OBJECTIVE
1. To determine all the variables involved in a mathematical relationship of Ohm’s Law.
2. To state the effect variables to the total current flow.

APPARATUS
1. Simulation devise (PhET website) : https://phet.colorado.edu/en/simulation/ohms-law

INTRODUCTION
Ohm’s law states that:

At constant temperature, the potential difference, V across a conductor is

directly proportional to the current, I that flows through it. The constant of
proportionality is known as resistance of the conductor denoted by R.

Formula written as
PROCEDURE
Part A - Effect of voltage changes towards the flow of current with fix resistance

1. The interface of Ohm’s Law simulation circuit had been set up as shown in figure 1.1
2. From the PhET interface, the voltage of the battery had been set up from its mininum
value by dragging the using the mouse and the value of resistance had been same. The
value of current flow in the circuit was observed and recorded.
3. The voltage of the battery had been slowly increased from minimum value to maximum
with a chosen fix value of resistance. The value of adjusted voltages and changes of the
value of current in the table A was recorded.

Part B - Effect of resistance towards the flow of current with fix resistance

1. The value of total resistance had been slowly increased from minimun to maximum and
a fix value of voltage was constant. The changes of current flow was observed. The
value of adjusted resistance due to changes of the value of current in table B was
recorded.

DISCUSSION
Based on the results obtained in part A, we can discuss that the value of slope of graph of
current due to different voltage are represent as 1/R while the results obtained in part B, the
value of slope of graph current due to resistance are represent as 1/V. The differentiate
between on the results obtained in part A and part B is where the value of current due to
different voltage are are directly proportional that it’s can shown in the formulas V=IR, where
the resistance is constant. When the value of voltage is increase, so the value of current also
increase and the value of current due to resistance are are inversely proportional that it’s can

V
shown in the formulas R= where voltage is constant. When the value of resistance is
I
increase, so the value of current is decrease. The effect of the voltage towards the current flow
in the circuit is the increasing values of current that depend on the values of voltage because
in ohm’s law, where I ∝ V while the decreasing values of current that depend on the values of
resistance, where R∝V/I.

CONCLUSION
In conclusion, the purpose of this experiment that used simulation devise (PhET website) to
determine all the variables involved in a mathematical relationship of Ohm’s Law and state
the effect variables to the total current flow was successful by meets requirement and
principle.
