Valedictorian
Mikayla M. Hickey, the
daughter of Michael and
Cherie Hickey, has been an
extremely active participant
in school and community ac-
tivities throughout her high
school career.
She has been involved in
National Honor Society and
Student Council all four years
of high school where she
served as the president of both
clubs.
Mikayla was a two-sport
scholar-athlete playing soc-
cer and softball while serving
as the varsity softball team
captain. She was named de-
fensive MVP of the varsity
softball team as a sophomore.
She would like to thank her
teachers, teammates, coach-
es, co-workers, family, and
friends for supporting her re-
gardless of the crazy schedule
she handled.
She was a member of the
band throughout her high
school career and also spent
time as a member of the Ski
Club, Math Club, and the
Mock Trial Team.
She held a strong passion for
softball where she has played
on travel teams for many years
and held team captain posi-
tions.
During her free time, she
worked at Target in Batavia
and competed at New York In-
ternational Raceway Park as a
drag racer.
Mikayla has also spent her
time volunteering for Tri-
Town Athletics, the Alexander
Wrestling Tournament, the Al-
exander Outdoor Classroom,
and the Alexander United
Methodist Church.
Throughout her years in
high school, Mikayla has
earned various honors such
as being named a National
Honor Society Scholarship
Semifinalist and a 2021 Com-
munity All-Star. She has been
awarded the National Junior
Honor Society Outstanding
Achievement Award, the Baus-
ch + Lomb Honorary Science
Award, the 2021 Youth Recog-
nition Award, the Chemistry
Achievement Award, the Presi-
dent’s Award for Academic Ex-
cellence, as well as awards of

Genesee Community College

natural sciences through the
ACE program.
Mikayla plans to attend UC-
LA to work towards a Bach-

He was selected to partici-
pate in the American Legion

Andrew was the recipient

2021. He has been immersed

school, Eddie was able to play

Fighting Irish hockey player and
baseball player for four years
in addition to playing hockey
for the Batavia Ramparts for 12
years. Sam was Ramparts team
captain for two seasons and as-
sistant team captain for two sea-
sons.
He earned the scholar athlete
team status all four years in addi-
tion to the scholar athlete award
two times. Sam was the recipient
of several other awards including
Rookie of the Year, The Sports-
manship Award, and a two-time
recipient of the Coach’s Award.

the YMCA Challenger Sports
Program — a program designed
for children ages 5-21 with med-
ical and learning disabilities —
for six years. Isabelle received the
GLOW YMCA Volunteer of the
Year Award in 2019.

Ambulance for three years and

Keegan Conway
Keegan Conway, son of Keith
and Angela Conway, ranks sev-
enth in the Class of 2021.
Keegan took many high level
courses throughout high school,
focusing on business, market-
ing and English his senior year.
Keegan played soccer, tennis,
and ran track, and was involved
in clubs such as Performance
Guild and Student Council. He
was president of his class both in
his junior and senior years.
Keegan has been very in-
volved in music during high
school, attending All County
Chorus, Area All State Chorus
and All County Band as the first
chair percussionist multiple
times.
Keegan will attend Canisius
College and pursue a major in
integrated marketing commu-
nications. He hopes to work in
both marketing and journalism
after earning his degree.

This year Amy volunteered
much of her time to helping our
new school librarians categorize
the books and organize. She also
worked on improving the Out-
door Classroom and helped cre-

that she accomplished this year
after breaking her collarbone
and needing surgery following
a four wheeler accident in Sep-
tember.
Amy will study Spanish and
pre-med at Alfred University.
She hopes to one day become
a bilingual surgeon in either or-
thopedic or general surgery.

Rounding out the top 10
of the Class of 2021 is Sydney
Finch, daughter of Jeff and Kelly
Finch.

Sydney has been involved in
Girls Service League, FFA and
been vice president of the class
since freshman year. Sydney is
an honor roll student and three-
year Breakfast of Champion
participant.
Her athletic involvement in-
cludes four years of varsity soft-
ball, four years varsity soccer,
two years varsity cheerleading,
one year junior varsity and var-
sity basketball. She was captain
of JV basketball, varsity cheer-
leading, varsity soccer, and var-
sity softball. Sydney was also
named MVP for varsity softball.
She was named scholar athlete
for three sports.
Sydney intends to study early
childhood education at SUNY
Fredonia.

T
his graduation special section is
made possible through the efforts
of many people.
And again this year. the novel coro-
navirus responsible for the COVID-19
virus was a factor.
We worked with counselors, secre-
taries and superintendents to gather
information as we do each year. But
this year that meant coordinating
around individual schedules that pre-
sented a mix of remote and in-person
work. Some students also worked
around different schedules.
Among the biggest challenges was
the class picture, typically the cen-
terpiece of each school’s section. As

restrictions eased this spring, schools
were able to carefully gather for pic-
tures. For others, such as Pavilion
Central School, the district created a
collage of senior photos. And for others,
such as Attica and Perry, the photo-
graphs highlight some of the activities
that seniors were able to take part in.
Every department at The Daily News
contributed to some part of this section
– from editing content to creating ads
to making sure this section gets deliv-
ered on time.
We also appreciate the helpful repre-
sentatives from each of the school dis-
tricts featured here and photographers
who took class pictures and individual
senior portraits that are the focal points
of this keepsake edition. Some we have
worked with for years, and others went
through this process for the first time
with this edition.
The school representatives are the
unsung heroes of this edition which
would not be possible without their
contributions. In addition to doing
their regular school jobs while navigat-
ing the pandemic, they compiled class
lists, biographies of top seniors and
photographs for this section.
They also promptly responded when
inevitable hiccups arose that come with
putting together such an extensive sec-
tion. When we needed to double-check
a name, track down a missing photo-
graph or biography, get a better quality
picture, or had a question about infor-
mation their prompt responses allowed
work to continue.
Here, it should be noted that the
class lists appearing in this special sec-
tion identify candidates for graduation
from each school’s senior class as of
early June. The students who ultimately
meet the qualifications to graduate
may differ from the published list.
Turn the page and learn about some
of the amazing graduates from Gene-
see, Orleans and Wyoming counties,
their achievements and the experienc-
es from high school that have shaped
their future plans.
