1. In making accurate pattern first of all you have to take the body measurements accurately.
Then you have to prepare all the necessary materials in drafting your pattern. Then follow
the procedure in drafting the pattern so that you will be guided on what to do and what to
adjust upon drafting your pattern. And lastly work with patients and care.
2. The importance of pattern drafting in sewing garments is that pattern has been a right
alteration to construct or to sew a garment. With the help of the pattern you can attain and
create a perfectly fit garment that you wanted to sew based on your measurements.

ACTIVITY 2

1. Shrink fabric
 Fold the fabric lengthwise
 Immerse and soak the fabric in cold water
 Let it stand for 30 to 60 minutes.
 Remove it from the water. Do not wring nor dry the fabrics on the clothesline.
 Press the cloth when completely dry. Be sure that the fabric to be cut is soaked
before cutting. Soak the fabric overnight in cold water.
2. Straighten fabric
 Tearing the fabric. Fold your fabric in half lengthwise and match selvages so that
they are flush.
 Pulling a thread. Some fabrics won't rip easily.
 Stretching. Another method to try if ripping or pulling a thread isn't successful is to
stretch your fabric.
 Ironing.
3. Stretch fabric
 Grasp opposite diagonal corners and pull.
 Check to see if the fabric has been straightened.
 Keep on pulling until the selvage comes together.
 Smooth the material on the table and check if the fabric ends even.
4. Press fabric
 Lay your fabric down on your ironing board or on another flat surface with the
wrong side of the fabric facing up.
 Once you have found the proper setting it is time to press your fabric.
 Now take your iron and press down for several seconds on the crease or wrinkle.

ACTIVITY 3

Preparing your fabric before you cut is the first step to ensuring that your garment or sewing
project does not look homemade. So, make sure you follow the care instructions provided by the
manufacturer of your fabric. Using fabric that has been pre-shrunk or isn't in danger of shrinking.
Washing your fabric before you cut ensures that shrinkage will happen before you cut out your
garment or sewing project. This is especially important for garments.
