I would love to work at Netflix, mainly because of its work-life philosophy which

motivates an employee and improves productivity. The company supports good health of

employees and, as such, has various health packages for its workers. Every year, employees

get a total health allowance of 15,000 US dollars. Besides, there is vison and full dental

coverage for its workers. Netflix also provides an opportunity for an employee to grow. For

instance, one can buy the company's shares at a set cost at a later day of own convenience

(Futurefuel, 2019). This promotes an investment attitude which is key for the financial

growth of employees.

Netflix has characteristics of an innovative culture, evident in its history over time.

When Netflix began in the year 1997, it allowed its clients to rent DVDs via its website. The

DVDs would then be delivered via mailbox, and once an individual finished with the DVD,

he or she would post it back. After considerable growth, the company introduced a new

subscription model where a client would only order another DVD after returning the previous

one. By 2010, the company had introduced a streaming service that is still popular to date

(McFadden, 2019). An innovative culture is what enabled the company to develop from a

website-based rental service, now to a globally recognized entertainment industry with online

streaming services.

Organizational culture refers to existing beliefs that guide how employees act

(Robbins & Coulter, 2016). Netflix's culture has contributed to the success of the

organization. The company has adopted vital cultural values that guide the behavior of

employees in the workplace. These values have been essential in driving the success of the

company by fostering a strong organizational culture. As part of its culture, Netflix has

placed a heavy focus on wise decision making, even when one is in an ambiguous situation.

Employees are encouraged not to make decisions basing on intuitions but to

strategically assess available data and make informed decisions. Consequently, quality

decision making promoting the success of the business is enhanced. Effective communication

is also another facet contributing to a robust organization culture in the company. Employees

are encouraged to be open to each other and learn to listen to one another. Whether verbally

or in written form, respect is critical when one is communicating. Where there is efficient

communication, employees stay united for a common goal, leading to improved productivity.

Other positive cultural values at Netflix include courage, selflessness, passion, and loyalty.

Investing in a culture that encourages technological innovation has also been a plus

for Netflix. For this reason, the company has been able to evolve from a DVD renting

company to a global entertainment industry with home streaming services. The organizational

culture in Netflix emphasizes on people and results, and not the background processes. As

such, the company's team forming process is dynamic in that once a team has completed its

objective, it is dissolved, and another group formed to handle another goal. Finally, Netflix is

keen on employees' performance, and any worker who does not deliver is sacked. This has

challenged employees to go to greater lengths in delivering results, thus contributing to the

company's success.

Another company can copy Netflix's culture successfully. Netflix mostly focuses on

people and results instead of processes. Therefore, this means copying their culture will not

entail a change in operations, which could be expensive, but on the attitude of workers.

Copying Netflix's organization culture will also include outlining professional values deemed

vital for the success of an organization. While Netflix has qualities such as communication,

passion, and selflessness as core cultural values, it is not compulsory for an organization

emulating it to focus on the same factors. The management should; however, draft values

fitting to their processes. Overall, copying Netflix's culture will undoubtedly also lead to the

success of a company.
