In the praise of the noble prophet

Mohammed (peace be upon him)

In Madina is the grave of the prophet, which visited by angels

It is such grave, there is excellence in empyrean and in the sky

The tomb of the holy prophet in Madina

Is there any relation between desert of Madina with the

gardens?
So with the lovely air of Madina, it is envious the garden of
paradise

If Madina city is safe then everything is safe

So Allah keeps it as the cause of the blessing
4

Madina is such a garden city which is the décor of all gardens

The seasons of the gardens of paradise are due to the Madina

While leaving Madina, so no need to visit the garden of paradise

As it is better than heaven and it is a living paradise on the earth

Not we but Allah also love the city of the

prophet Madina

The love of Madina city is like the love of the

prophet and love of Allah

The beggar of this door is the king of fate and worlds

The beggar of this place is matter of envy of the kings

One who has become rich there so his fate could not known
In the resurrection day prophet, Ibrahim will find help there

Oh, Allah help us to reach Madina city to see how it is there?

Where is the mercy and there is available blessing everywhere?

If one leaves Madina then he will not find the resort of heaven
If there is a love of Madina then it is guaranteed of the heaven

On the earth, he is called Mohammed and Ahmed in the skies

His praise is in the world and also his praise is found in the skies

There is his great rule in Madina also he is a ruler of the skies

5

Madina is capital and he is the great ruler of the two worlds

What mistake you did Fatima by leaving the city of Madina ?

As it is such heaven and liked by the angles of the empyrean
6

Why visitor will go to heaven by leaving the city of Madina ?

What is heaven as it is gracefully for the sake of Madina city?

The miracle of Hadrat Sheikh Abdul Quader Jilani (R.A.)

Mausoleum of Hazrat Shaikh Abdul Quader Jilani R.A.

Hadrat Sheikh Abdul Quader Jilani (R.A.), is the leader of all holy
persons like the Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him.) who
10

is the leader of the group of all prophets of Allah which have

been sent down on the world. So, for this reason, he is called
and he is famous as a chief of all the saints. His spiritual benefits
and favours from his miracles were available in the all period of
time and even today is being continued and till the day of the
judgment, such favours and benefits will be available to the
mankind in the world. Because the favour and benefits of the
holy persons which is available during the life period and which
will be also available in the world after their demise from the
world. Allah the most Merciful and Beneficent has kept the holy
persons in every period of time so that there should available
favours of miracles and benefits to the mankind from them.
The holy persons due to the nearness of Allah and
perfection in the obedience of the prophet of Allah they were
away from the sins. Allah has given them the most excellent
status of the holy persons of the nation of the prophet
Mohammed (peace be upon him) and Allah’s divine power
being manifest by the holy persons

So for getting favour and benefits from the holy persons is

in fact of getting favour and benefits from Allah because their
saying, actions are according to the commandments of Allah
and as per the practice of the last prophet of Allah.
Hadrat Sheikh Abdul Quader Jilani (R.A.), and who was the
Qutub (highest cadre in spiritual pivot) of all time’s favour of
spiritual miracle is available in his saying which is as mentioned
as follows.
11

“If my disciple’s hiding will be open and if he will be there in

the East, and if I am in the West then I will cover it.”
In this way, his disciples and devotees were able to get his
favour of miracles and benefits of spiritual powers in all time
and at always. And they think him as a manifest of the help of
Allah and so, for this reason, they see his favour of miracles and
benefits from him. There is saying of the prophet, which is as
follows.
“If your animal will run away from you then you should call
as oh people of Allah help me.”
12

For the revival of the religion of Islam, Hadrat Sheikh Abdul

Quader Jilani (R.A.), is such an enormous personality and a
great leader and due to the blessing of his hand while finding
the religion of Islam as a patient in the exemplary shape and
given new life to it and so then he was becoming famous and
well known by the title of Mohiuddin.

The eleven principles of Naqshabandia Sufi chain

13

Mausoleum of Hadrat Khaja Bahuddin Naqshaband

The first eight principles are from 'Abd ul-Khaliq Ghujduwani (d.
1220). The final three principles were added by Baha ad-din
Naqshband (d. 1389).
1.Awareness in the Breath/Awareness in the Moment (Hush
dar dam)
14

"Every breath which is exhaled from within must be exhaled

with awareness and presence of mind and so that the mind
does not stray into forgetfulness."
Baha ad-din Naqshband said: "The foundation of our work is in
the breath. The more that one is able to be conscious of one's
breathing, the stronger is one's inner life. It is a must for
everyone to safeguard his breath in the time of his inhalation
and exhalation and further, to safeguard his breath in the
interval between the inhalation and exhalation."
As the seeker becomes occupied with the exercise of the
moment (i.e. remembering the breath), he turns his attention
from remembering the past and thinking of the future, and
focuses on each breath until it is expired.
Sa'd ud-din Kashghari added: "Hush dar dam is moving from
breath to breath so there is no heedlessness but rather there is
presence, and with each breath that we take should be the
remembrance of the Real."
Sheikh Abdul Janab Najmuddin al-Kubra said in his book,
Fawatih al-Jamal: "Dhikr (remembrance of God in the breath) is
flowing in the body of every single living creature by the
necessity of their breath—even without will—as a sign of
obedience, which is part of their creation. Through their
breathing, the sound of the letter 'Ha' of the Divine Name Allah
is made with every exhalation and inhalation and it is a sign of
the Unseen Essence serving to emphasize the Uniqueness of
God. Therefore it is necessary to be present with that
15

breathing,
16

in order to realize the Essence of the Creator."

The name Allah, which encompasses the ninety-nine Names
and Attributes, consists of four letters, Alif, Lam, Lam and Hah
(ALLAH). The people of Sufism say that the absolute unseen
Essence of Allah Exalted and Almighty is expressed by the last
letter vowelized by the Alif, "Hah." It represents the Absolutely
Unseen "He-ness" of the Exalted God (Ghayb al-Huwiyya al-
Mutlaqa lillah 'azza wa jall) in which the mystic loses his
separate identity with every "hah" in his breath.
17

The first Lam is for the sake of identification (tacrif) and the
second Lam is for the sake of emphasis (mubalagha).
The soul has long been thought to be in the breath. "For the
early thinkers the soul was visualized sensuously as a breath-
body." Awareness of the breath makes us aware of the soul and
the inner body, inner self, which belong to the moment.
In the path of the Khwajagan awareness in the breath is a
very great principle. Those in this path regard it a great
transgression to become unconscious of the breath.

2.Watch your Step! (Nazar bar qadam)

Direct yourself constantly towards the goal.
Sa'd ud-din Kashghari added: "Looking upon the steps means
that the seeker in coming and going looks upon the top of his
feet and thereby his attention is not scattered by looking at
what he should not look at." When the beginner's attention is
taken by shapes and colors outside of himself, his state of
remembering leaves him and is ruined, and he is kept from his
objective. This is because the beginning seeker does not have
the power of the "remembrance of the heart," so when his
sight falls upon things, his heart loses its collectedness, and his
mind becomes scattered.
Watch your step can also refer to watching circumstances,
feeling when is the right time for action, when is the right time
for inaction, and when is the right time for pause. Some have
18

said that Nazar bar qadam is an expression which refers to the

wisdom inherent in one's natural disposition.
Fakhr ud-Din Kashifi added: "Nazar bar qadam may be alluding
to the seekers traveling through the stages of breaking from
existence and putting behind self- love."
Of these three interpretations, the first refers to beginners' use
of this aphorism, the second refers to those in mid-progress on
the Way, and the third to the Attainers.
19

3.The Journey Home (Safar dar watan)

Your journey is towards your homeland. Remember you are
traveling from a world of illusion to a world of reality. The
wayfarer travels from the world of creation to the world of the
Creator.
The Journey Home is the transformation that brings man out
of his subjective dream state, so that he can fulfill his divine
destiny.
From the Rashahat-i 'ayn al-hayat: "[The journey home refers
to] that traveling which the seeker makes within his human
nature. In other words, travel from the qualities of humankind
toward the angelic qualities, moving from blameworthy
qualities to laudable ones." Sheikh Ahmad Sirhindi (d. 1624)
said: "This blessed expression [traveling in the homeland]
means traveling within the self. The source of its results lies in
putting the final [practice] at the beginning, which is one of the
characteristics of the Naqshbandi Way. And although this
[inner] traveling can also be found in other tariqas [schools of
Sufism], [in those] it is found only in the end after the 'traveling
on the horizons' [referring to the Qur'anic verse (41:53): 'We
will show them Our signs on the horizons and within their
selves until they know He is the Real']."
"Traveling on the horizons" is traveling from place to place.
At the beginning of the journey it can mean leaving home to
find a guide or teacher. Also it happened in former generations
that when the wayfarer had become established in a place, got
20

accustomed to it and become familiar with its people, they took

21

on traveling in order to break down habit and comfort and cut

themselves off from renown. They would choose travel in order
to experience complete emptying.
It means traveling within oneself, looking at oneself, examining
oneself and one's reactions, and how they act upon one.
This reflects the stress that the Naqshbandi path puts on the
inner states, stages, processes.
Be an external resident and let your heart
travel. Traveling without legs is the best kind of
travel.
22

4.Solitude in the Crowd (Khalwat dar anjuman)

There are two kinds of retreat. One is the outward kind in
which the seeker, far from people, sits alone in his cell until he
comes into contact with the spiritual world. This result comes
about because the external senses withdraw themselves and
the inner senses extend themselves to signs from the spiritual
world.
The second kind of retreat is the hidden one, where the seeker
is inwardly witnessing the secrets of the Real while he is
outwardly surrounded by people. Khalwat dar anjuman is of
this second type of retreat: outwardly to be with people,
inwardly to be with God.
In all your outer activities remain inwardly free. Learn not to
identify with anything whatsoever.
Khwaja Awliya Kabir, one of the deputies of 'Abd ul-Khaliq
Ghujduwani, explained khalwat dar anjuman as follows:
"'Retreat within the crowd' is that state when one is so
constantly and completely absorbed in divine remembrance
that 'one could walk through the market-place without hearing
a word.'"
They are with their Lord and simultaneously they are with the
people. As the Prophet said, "I have two sides: one faces my
Creator and one faces creation."
'Abd ul-Khaliq Ghujduwani himself was known to say: "Close
the door of the formality of sheikhhood, open the door of
23

friendship. Close the door of khalwat (solitary retreat) and

24

open the door of suhbat (companionship)." Baha ad-din

Naqshband said in this connection: "Our path is in
companionship. In [physical] retreat there comes fame and
with fame comes calamity. Our welfare lies with the assembly
and its companionship, on condition that [self-] negation is
found in one another."
When Baha ad-din reached Herat on his journey to Mecca,
the Amir Hussein arranged a gathering in his honour. At the
assembly the Amir asked him, "Since with your Presence there
is neither audible dhikr, nor voyaging, nor audition of special
music and poetry, what is your path?" He answered, "The pure
words of the tribe of 'Abd ul-Khaliq Ghujduwani, which are
'retreat within the crowd,' and we follow in their Way." "What
is retreat within the crowd?" the Amir asked. "Outwardly to be
with the people while inwardly to be with God," said
Naqshband.
25

The Amir expressed surprise and asked whether this was

actually possible. Baha ad-din replied that if it were not possible
God Most High would not have indicated it in a Qur'anic verse
which describes those who are not distracted from the
remembrance of God even while in the marketplace: "Men
whom neither business nor profit distracts from the
recollection of Allah" [24:37]. This is the way of the Naqshbandi
Order.
Ahmad Faruqi Sirhindî, Mujaddid-i-alf-i-thani (the Renewer
of the second millennium), said: "Retreat within the crowd is
derived from traveling in the homeland since if traveling in the
homeland is properly accomplished, then retreat within the
crowd will properly occur. The seeker within the diversity of the
crowd travels in his own land, and the diversity of the horizons
finds no way into the meditation cell of his inner self. This
treasure will manifest with difficulty at the beginning and with
no difficulty in the end. And in this tariqa it is the portion of the
beginning while in other paths it is at the end. This is so
because the treasure is derived from traveling within the self
(with presence in the moment), which is at the beginning of this
path, while traveling on the horizons takes place
simultaneously. This is the opposite of the other paths which
make the traveling on the horizons the beginning and the
traveling within the self the end."
In the words of al-Kharraz: "Perfection is not in exhibitions
of miraculous powers, but perfection is to sit among people,
sell and buy, marry and have children; and yet never leave the
26

presence of Allah even for one moment."

5.Remembrance (Yad kard)
Concentration on Divine Presence.
For the Naqshbandiyya remembrance is practiced in the silent
dhikr.Keep God, the Beloved, always in your heart. Let your prayer,
dhikr, be the prayer of your heart.
20

According to Khwaja Ubaydullah Ahrar, "the real meaning of

dhikr is inward awareness of God. The purpose of dhikr is to
attain this consciousness." The purpose of the dhikr is to keep
one's heart and attention entirely focused on the Beloved in
love and devotion.
The dhikr is not just repeated as words, but is in the heart.
Remembrance of the tongue becomes remembrance of the
heart. Abdu'l-Qadir al-Gilani said: "At the first stage one recites
the name of God with one's tongue; then when the heart
becomes alive one recites inwardly. At the beginning one
should declare in words what one remembers. Then stage by
stage the remembrance spreads throughout one's being—
descending to the heart then rising to the soul; then still further
it reaches the realm of the secrets; further to the hidden; to the
most hidden of the hidden."
6.Returning (from distraction), Going Back (Baz gasht)
Travel one way.The return to God. Single-minded pursuit of
divine truth.

This means banishing and dispelling every thought, good or

bad, that comes to mind involuntarily during the dhikr. When
performing the remembrance the heart is required to attain the
calm contentment of: “Oh Allah, my goal is You and Your good
pleasure; it is nothing else!” So long as there is any space left in
the heart for other interests, such calm contentment cannot
take shape, and the remembrance cannot be genuine. Even
21

if this
22

tranquility cannot be attained at the outset, one must not

abandon the remembrance, and it is necessary to persist in its
performance until this feeling is acquired.

The meaning of baz gasht is the return to Allah Exalted and

Almighty by showing complete surrender and submission to His
Will, and complete humbleness in giving Him all due praise. The
reason, mentioned by the Holy Prophet in his invocation, ma
dhakarnaka haqqa dhikrika ya Madhkar (“We did not
Remember You as You Deserve to be Remembered, O Allah”), is
that the seeker cannot come to the presence of Allah in his
dhikr, and cannot manifest the Secrets and Attributes of Allah in
his dhikr, if he does not make dhikr with Allah's support and
with Allah's remembrance of him. As Bayazid Bistami (d. 874)
said: “When I reached
23

Him I saw that His remembering of me preceded my

remembrance of Him.” The seeker cannot make dhikr by
himself.
He must recognize that Allah is the one making dhikr through
Him.

“Beloved, you and your approval are my purpose and desire.”

This attitude will rid one of impure thoughts and distractions. It
relates to the path of absorption. One Sufi was concerned that
he was not sincere, and was ashamed. So his sheikh took him to
a Sufi who was on the path of absorption, and this sheikh told
him that absorption, not hair-splitting, would free him from his
problem. The wayfarer realized that in his worry about his
dishonesty and shame, his wants and needs, he had been
focused on himself, separating himself from his Beloved.

According to Khwaja Ahrar, the saying “returning” means

that we have within us the goal of our striving. The seeds of
transformation are sown in us from above and we have to
treasure them above all possessions.
7. Attentiveness (Nigah dasht)
Struggle with all alien thoughts. Be always mindful of what
you are thinking and doing, so that you may put the imprint of
your immortality on every passing incident and instance of your
daily life.
Be watchful. Be aware of what catches your attention. Learn to
withdraw your attention from undesirable objects. This is also
24

expressed as "be vigilant in thought and remember yourself."

Nigah means sight. It means that the seeker must watch his
heart and safeguard it by preventing bad thoughts from
entering. Bad inclinations keep the heart from joining with the
Divine.
It is acknowledged in the Naqshbandiyya that for a seeker to
safeguard his heart from bad inclinations for fifteen minutes is
a great achievement. For this he would be considered a real
Sufi. Sufism is the power to safeguard the heart from bad
thoughts and protect it from low inclinations. Whoever
accomplishes these two goals will know his heart, and whoever
knows his heart will know his Lord. The Holy Prophet has said,
"Whoever knows himself knows His Lord."
25

Sa'd ud-Din Kashgari said: "The seeker must, for one hour or
two or whatever he is capable of, hold onto his mind and
prevent thoughts of other [than God] entering." Another
description from the Munahej ul-Sair has it that: "[Nigah dasht
is the] guarding of the special awareness and presence which
have resulted from the noble dhikr, so that remembering of
anything other than the Real does not find its way into the
heart/mind."
Yet others have written that nigah dasht also applies to
the time of the dhikr itself: "Nigah dasht is when the seeker at
the time of the dhikr holds his heart/mind upon the meaning of
LA ILAHA ILLA 'LLAH so that thoughts do not find entrance into
his heart, because if thoughts are in the mind then the result of
the dhikr, meaning presence of the heart/mind, will not
manifest." It has also been said, "Nigah dasht is an expression
meaning the prevention of the occurance of thought at the
time one is occupied with [repeating] the fragrant sentence [of
LA ILAHA ILLA 'LLAH]."
Abdul Majid Il Khani said that the meaning of preserving the
heart/mind from incoming thoughts is that they lose their hold
on the mind. In this connection Khwaja Ubaydullah Ahrar said:
"The meaning of preserving the mind [from thoughts] is not
that the seeker can avoid thoughts at the beginning [of his
attempts], but rather that thoughts do not disturb the
attendance and presence[required for the dhikr]. [Thoughts]
can be likened to straw which has fallen onto moving water and
yet the water is not prevented from its course. 'Abd ul-Khaliq
26

Ghujduwani said: "It isn't so that thoughts never enter the

heart/mind, but rather
27

that at times they do and at times they do not." His statement

seems to be supported by Khwaja 'Ala al-Din al-'Attar who
reported: "Succeeding with thoughts is difficult or even
impossible. I preserved my heart for twenty years from
thoughts, after which they would still appear but they then
found no hold there."

8.Continued Remembrance / Perpetual Invocation (Yad dasht)

Constant awareness in the presence of God. "The complete
experience of divine contemplation, achieved through the
action of objective love."
28

Those on the path maintain that when inner love is always

present in one's dealings with the world, then one has achieved
this mindfulness.
This is the last stage before transformation is completed. The
seeker becomes aware that his loss of "self" will be
compensated by objective love. The humiliation (abnegation of
self) that leads to this stage ceases to touch the seeker for he
discovers the unlimited joy that Truth will bring.
Yad dasht refers to the durability of the awareness of the Real
in the path of "tasting" (living in the multiplicity of illusion). In
the Rashahat-i 'ain al-Hayyat it is stated: "Some have said that
this is a perceiving/witnessing which is the domination of
witnessing the Real in the heart through essential love."
Ubaydullah Ahrar said: "Yad dasht is an expression meaning
the durability of the awareness of the Glorious Real." He said
further: "It means presence [with God] without disappearance."
Regarding the use of the term for the period of the dhikr
itself it has been said: "Yad dasht is that which the dhakir
(person practicing dhikr) during the dhikr maintains [fully the
meaning of] negation and affirmation in his heart in the
presence of the Named."
Khwaja Ubaydullah Ahrar has described the principles five
through eight as following each other in this manner: "Yad kard
(Remembrance) refers to the work of invoking/remembering.
Baz gasht(Returning) means turning to the High Real in the
manner that when saying the fragrant sentence of the dhikr the
29

seeker follows this in his heart with "God you are my true goal!"
and nigah dasht(Attentiveness) is the holding on to this
turning [to the Real] without words. Yad dasht
(Recollection) means constancy/firmness in [the holding on of]
nigah dasht (Attentiveness)."

9. Awareness of One's State of Mind / Time (Wuquf-i-zamani)

Baha ad-din Naqshband said that this consciousness is the
maker and guide of the disciple. It means to be attentive to
one's state of mind at any given moment and to know whether
it is a cause for giving thanks or for repenting.
30

It means: To keep account of one's temporal states. To

distinguish presence, huzur, from absence, ghaflat. Baha ad-din
described this as "self- possession" or "mindfulness." He added
that one should always be grateful when one returns to a state
of presence.
In wuquf-i-zaman the seeker remains constantly aware of his
changing states. Baha ad-din Naqshband explained: "Wuquf-i-
zamani is the work of the traveler on the Way: to be attentive
of his state, and to know whether it is a cause for giving thanks
or for repenting, to give thanks while feeling spiritual elation,
and to repent while in spiritual dryness or contraction."
He also stated: "The foundation of the work of the seeker has
been established in the awareness of time [exercise] as seeing
at each moment whether the perceiver of breaths is [breathing]
with presence or with forgetfulness."
Maulana Yaqub Charkhi, in his Explanation of the Names of
Allah, said: "Khwaja [Naqshband] instructed that in the state of
qabz (contraction) one should seek God's forgiveness, whereas
in the state of bast (expansion) one should offer thanks. Close
observation of these two states constitutes wuquf-i-zamani."
Wuquf-i- zamani of the Naqshbandi path is equivalent to the
term "mohasseba"(keeping account of/close observation) used
by other Sufis.
Jami, in the Resalah-i-nuria, said:"Wuquf-i-zamani is a term
meaning the keeping account of the times one passes in [a
state of] dispersal (tafriqah) or collectedness (jam'iyyat)."
31

10. Awareness of Number (Wuquf-i-adadi)

An expression meaning the observation of the number of
individual repetitions of the dhikr. Jami said: "Wuquf-i-adadi is
the observation of the number of dhikrs and of whether this
[observation] yields results or not." According to Baha ad-din
Naqshband, "The observation of the number of repetitions of
the dhikr of the heart is for gathering thoughts/mental activity
which are scattered."
According to Khwaja 'Ala al-Din al-'Attar, "The important
thing is not the number of repetitions but rather the
composure and awareness with which one makes them."
32

According to Baha ad-din Naqshband, this awareness is the

first stage of entry into the spiritual world.
This could also mean that for beginners, reading about the
achievements and states of consciousness demonstrated by
those advanced in this practice would be helpful, since in
reading about another's state of nearness, one acquires a
certain quality of inner inspiration.
For advanced disciples, this technique, which facilitates the
initial stages of acquiring inner intuition and inspiration, brings
a consciousness of the unity of diversity:

This diversity and proliferation is all but a

show, The One is manifest in the all.
Diversity, if you look with open eyes, is naught but unity. No
doubts for us, though there might be in some minds. Though
appearance is in numbers, the substance is but one.
(It should be noted that inner inspiration, that understanding
which brings the practitioner and people on the path closer to
higher teachings, comes through divine grace and is not due to
mind discoveries. "Knowledge comes from grace. The
difference between divine inspiration and divine knowledge is
that divine knowledge comes through internalizing the light of
the Essence and the divine attributes, while divine inspiration is
gained through receptivity to inner meanings and those types
of instructions which manifest within the practitioner.")
33

11. Awareness of the Heart (Wuquf-i-qalbi)

The heart becomes aware of God. This marks the awakening
of divine love. The individual becomes aware that his existence
is an obstacle to his final transformation and he no longer fears
to sacrifice it because he sees for himself that he will gain
infinitely more than he loses.
Wuquf-i-qalbi has been described as having two meanings. One
is that the seeker's heart in the midst of the dhikr is conscious
and aware of the Real. On this point Khwaja Ubaydullah Ahrar
said: "Wuquf-i-qalbi is an expression meaning an
34

awareness and presence of heart toward the Most High Real

felt in such a manner that the heart feels no need of anything
except the Real." This meaning is similar to that of yad dasht.
Heart consciousness means heart's resting with the Beloved,
as if nothing and no one else existed.
The other meaning is that there is awareness of the heart
itself. In other words, the seeker during the time of the dhikr is
attentive to the cone-shaped heart which is the "seat of
subtlety," and prevents it from becoming unaware during the
saying of the dhikr.
Baha ad-din Naqshband did not consider it necessary to hold
the breath during the dhikr as is done in some tariqas, even
though he considered that practice to have its benefits; nor did
he consider essential the wuquf-i-zamani and wuquf-i- adadi
(awareness of time and awareness of number). But
according to the Qodsîyyah he considered "the observance of
wuquf-i-qalbi the most important and necessary because it is
the summary and essence of the intention of the dhikr."
Like an expecting mother-bird, sit watchfully on the egg of
your heart, Since from this egg will result your drunkenness,
self-abandoned, uproarious laughter and your final union.

When Hazrat Shah Naqshband was a young

man, he went to Makkahtul Mukarrama to perform
his obligatory pilgrimage. When he arrived, he was
met by Hazrat Khizr (may Allah be pleased with
him), who blessed him with his teachings and
granted him a new cane as a gift. In Bukhara, this
cane grew into a beautiful tree that gave shade to
the area around Shah Naqshband's tomb for
hundreds of years.

The verse Fateha (The opening)

It is difficult Your praise and hidden Your virtues
You are visible there and You are in everything
Every particle, you created from beginning to end
You are Sustainer of this word and in another world
You are Lord of the worlds and forgiver of worlds
You are kind and Your favor is there for all persons
For pious persons, You are kind and merciful to all
Your favor and kindness is there for all of them
You are the owner who settles deeds upon death
In your kind hands, the penalty and a prize is there
All our worship is for You. Oh Lord of two worlds
All slaves big or small belong to you from the origin
For our needs, your personality is and must for us
You give all one who calls you as You are a helper
Guide us right path on which path who went away

With Your graces and went away on such path indeed

But there will be no such way, which is ignored by You
Which misguide persons in such way due to your anger
This is the prayer of your slave and you kindly accept
caller’s prayer as you are the owner of the 2 worlds

Introduction

PRAISE be to God who made love the foundation of the world;

God Himself was the first lover for He loved the Prophet,
Muhammad. Praise be to the Prophet whom God hath raised
from the dust of the earth to great dignity.

The prophet of the Islam has explained orders and issues of

the Islamic religion to his companions and from them, orders
and issues of the Islamic religion were reached to Taibin (Those
who saw him but held off believing in him until after his passing
are not considered ṣahābah but tābiʻūn.). And from these order
10

and issues were learned by Tabih Taibin (successors to the holy

prophet’s companion)
When Islamic religion went outside of the boundaries of the
Arabian peninsula then there were endeavors of preachers of
Islamic religion which were become successful. After Tabiun
then Taba Tabiun fulfilled their duties well in this matter. After
that this duty was fall on the shoulder of Islamic learned
persons, jurists, imams (leaders), and persons of Quran
exegesis. Holy persons of Allah and as well as pious persons.
And they have not shown any negligence in their duties. And
they have shown the right path to the Muslim nation.

Hazrat Khawja Nizamuddin Aulia is also included among
such genius learned and holy persons and he has performed his
duties to the Muslim nation well. And by living in his company
many thousand students of reality were able to reach their
destination.
Hazrat Khawja Nizamuddin Aulia is also a follower of his
spiritual chain of Chistia. And he was well known and genius
famous personality for his worship and mystical exercise. He
has complete knowledge of manifest in the service of his
spiritual master Hazrat Fariduddin Ganj Shaker. And when he
has finished knowledge of manifest then he was become his
disciple and afterward he has started stages of mysticism and
he was obtained robe of honor and caliphate from him. T
Hazrat Khawja Nizamuddin Aulia has obtained favour from
a large number of genius holy persons of Allah. And they were
in many thousands and who were reached to the higher status
of the saintliness.
11

There are many of excellence and quality of Khawja

Nizamuddin Aulia and aim of compiling a book of 100 events of
Khawja Nizamuddin Aulia” is that to know his different aspect
of biography and to act upon them. In the last, there is pray in
the court of Allah is that to accept the endeavors of this lowest
person. May Allah give us divine instruction to become true and
sincere Muslims. (Amen)

1.The miracle of Moulana Shadi Maqri

Mother has sent Khaja Nizamuddin Auliya for primary
education to the school and where he has started primary
education of the holy Quran by Moulana Shadi Maqri. Hazrat
12

Nizamuddin Auliya said that “In the Badayun Moulana Shadi

who was a person of the revelation and miracles.”
And his lowest miracle is that one who learns from him a
small portion of the knowledge of the Holy Quran and due to its
blessing and felicity then he will able to memorize the whole
Quran.
Khawja Nizamuddin Aulia said that “In my young age I have
learned from him one part of the holy Quran and due to its
felicity Almighty Allah has enabled me to memorized me the
whole Quran.”
         2. The turban of the felicity

It is mentioned in the book Khair Majalis that in Badayun
Moulana was learned book Qadaravi in the service of the
Hazrat Alauddin and Hazrat told him that “ Now you go have
decored your head by the facility of the turban.”
As Moulana Alauddin used to have four yards turban on his
head and a big size turban which was not available to Hazrat
Nizamuddin so he went to see her mother and told her that “
Moulana has asked me to have a turban on my head.” His
mother told him that “ Rest assured and I will make
arrangements in this matter.”
Then his mother has purchased cotton and after ginning she
was given to the weaver and she has made yarn from half
cotton and half cotton she was given to her maid for making the
yarn. Then she was given yarn with instruction by insisting in
this matter to one weaver who was her neighbor for making
turban to him. So the weaver has left all his works and he was
made turban within three days time. And by washing it without
13

rice-water he has presented turban into the presence of the

mother of Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya. And Hazrat told his
mother that “If with turban there will be available some money
so that he will take it in the presence of Moulana Alauddin.”
Then Hazrat Nizamuddin has taken turban and money into the
presence of Moulana Alauddin. And Moulana has added some
money from his side and arranged for the preparation of the
food. And he was given the order to Hazrat Nizamuddin to call
Moulana Shaikh Ali Moula.
In those days there were two Moulana Shaikh Ali Moula Khurd
and Moulana Shaikh Ali Moula. And Moulana Shaikh Ali Khurd
was called there in the meeting.
When in the holy meeting when holy persons of Allah and
all learned persons gathered then at that time eating and
drinking was over then Moulana Alauddin took the turban by
his hands and was opened by his and was given to Hazrat
Nizamuddin and asked him to wear on his head. And told him”
“To come near and wear the turban on your head.” Then Khaja
Nizamuddin was wearing the turban on his head. And then he
was bowed his head on the foot of Moulana Alauddin. Hazrat
Moula Ali Khurd was trained by Hazrat Jalaluddin Tabrizi when
he has seen the respect and honour of Khaja Nizamuddin with
his teacher then he told his teacher in the Hindi language
that”Yag Buda Hai.” It means this boy will become a holy
person. Then he has repeated his phrase again that this boy will
become a great holy person. Moulana Alauddin Asuli asked
Hazrat Moula Ali Khurd that “How he was known in this matter
that this boy will become a holy person of time?.” Hazrat Ali
Moula Khurd told that “ He found in him two things.” And its
14

meaning and interpretation are that “The person who wears a

turban of respite did not fall on the foot of any person.” And
second thing his turban will be simple type.”

3. The Asectism of Hazrat Kamaluddin Muhadis

Moulana Shamsul Mulk was recognized as the leader of
literature and dictionary and from him, Hazrat Nizamuddin was
studied and memorized book Maqamat Hariri and then from
Kamaluddin who was a well known and famous teacher of time
in the knowledge of Hadith (Hadith is an Arabic word, which
literally means a statement, talk, story, conversation or
communication. It also means new. “Hadith is a talk and which
may be brief or elaborated.” Technically Hadith means the
narration of the sayings, doings, or approvals (Taqrir) of
Muhammad (peace be upon him).) in expiation of Maqamat, he
was memorized Kitab Mashariq Al- Anawar and he has obtained
a certificate from him.
In Seraital Auliya, it is mentioned by reference of Hazrat
Nizamuddin that when there was reached news of perfection of
asceticism and plenty of the knowledge and action of Hazrat
Kamaluddin Muhadis to Sultan Ghiasuddin Balbon then he
wants to give him the post of his prayer leader for himself. And
he has called him in his court. And he went into the royal court.
Then he has treated him with much respect and honour and he
told him that “I have the perfection of trust in your service. So
kindly accept my request so that then there will be perfect
hope for me that my prayers will be accepted in the court of
Allah.”
15

Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya said that Hazrat Kamaluddin

Muhadis told that “With him, there is nothing except prayer
and now the Sultan wants to snatch from him his prayers.”
Hazrat Nizamuddin was told that “Hazrat Jamaluddin
Muhadis has given his reply by the hardness of the religion and
with dignity and horror.” So Sultan Ghiasuddin Balbon became
silent. And he was able to know that this holy person does not
want the post given by him. Then at last he has sent away him
away from the court with much regret in this matter.

4. He was found heavy upon all the learned persons

Hazrat Nizamuddin upon obtaining knowledge of the
manifest was shifted to Delhi from Badayun along with his
mother and sister during the ruling period of Sultan Ghiasuddin
Balbon. He was settled down in the neighborhood of Hazrat
Najibuddin Mutawakil.
In the book Jawahir Faridi it is mentioned that the Sultan of
Delhi has called all learned persons and told them that “ He
wants to appoint one learned person as Qazi of Delhi city. You
people tell who is suitable and qualified.” The learned persons
told him that “ During this period there is no better than Hazrat
Nizamuddin Auliya.” The Sultan was called him in his court and
there was held discussion of Hazrat Nizamuddin with all learned
persons and he was found heavy upon all the learned persons.
So the sultan was very happy for this reason and he said God
bye by giving him a robe of honour and many rewards to him.

16

 5. You did not become the Qazi

Upon reaching Delhi Hazrat Nizamuddin was busy for many
years with obtaining knowledge. He was benefitted very much
from the company Moulana Shamsul Mulk and Moulana
Aminuddin Ahmed Muhadis. Specially Moulana Shamul Mulk
who used to pay attention very much. Many of the learned
person of the city who were disciples of him.
In the book Jawahir Faridi, it is mentioned that one day Hazrat
Nizamuddin went to the house of Qutub of time Hazrat
Bakhtiar Kaki to kiss his foot. And where has met on Majzub
(one lost in divine meditation) person? He told him to pray so
that he can become a Qazi.” That Majzub told him that “You
want to become a Qazi but I want to see you Sultan of the
world. And you will get such a position that all world will get
benefitted from your favours.”
Upon hearing the saying of the Majzub person and upon
hearing his result of felicity and in his heart there was created
passion and his desire of the posting judge was become out of
his heart. Then he began telling all his friends and well-wishers
that “I will adopt darwesh system and indigence and my heart
is upset with Qazi work and endeavours of the world.”
As Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya used to reside in the
neighborhood of Hazrat Najibuddin Mutawakil and usually he
was benefitted from his company. So when his mother died
when he was sitting with him in his company in loneliness. Ad
one day he has requested him to pray for him for the
appointment on the post of judge. Then Shaikh Najibuddin told
17

him that “ You Inshallah (if Allah wills it.) will not become judge
and you will become such and such person which I know well.”

6. The guest of the Allah

The mother of Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya was a glorious
woman. And in asceticism and piety, she was the second Rabia
of Basra. Upon the death of his husband there came many hard
situations and problems but she never left the edge of the
patience from her hands. Nor he spread her edge of the shirt
before anybody. There will be less income from yarn making
but mother and his son used to spend life in it with patience
and thankfulness of Allah. Sometimes there will be starvation in
the house. And when there will be starvation in the house then
she will say to her son Hazrat Nizamuddin that “ Baba
Mohammed today we are guests of Allah.”
In the beginning, due to his younger age Hazrat Nizamuddin
could not able to understand its meaning but when he was
grown up then he was able to understand its meaning and he
has found taste in it. And he said that “I used to wait for that
day when my mother will say this phrase again to me in this
matter.”

7.The sudden death of his mother

18

Hazrat Bibi Zuleqa used to be happy to see the interest of his

son in education. And she used to give him many prays in this
matter. Still, his education was not completed then she became
ill and when the illness was increased very much then she has
stopped eating meals and drinks. And at that time she was
come to know that there will be a call to him from Almighty
Allah for his death.
One day Hazrat Nizamuddin came to see her say salam upon
seeing the new moon of the Jamad Al-Awwal. Then at that
time, it was said by his mother bi that “ My son in the next
month to whom you will salam upon seeing the new month’s
moon and get prays .” Hazrat Nizamuddin began weeping very
much and he said that “Oh my mother I can not live without
you.” Hazrat Bibi Zuleqa consoled him and told him that “ Now
go and sleep and to come tomorrow morning.”
Hazrat Nizamuddin has spent all night in worries and he
went in the morning in the presence of his mother. And her
mother took his right hand in her hands and Bibi Zuleqa looked
at the sky and she has said:” Oh Allah this orphan boy is
surrendered to you.” Upon saying this she has left this mortal
world and went to her final destination in the other perpetual
world.

8. The swearing in the name of love of the shaikh

Hazrat Nizamuddin said that “When his age became 12 years
old then at that time I was engaged in learning knowledge of
dictionaries in Badayun. At that time in the presence of my
spiritual master Alauddin one person and his name, Shaikh
19

Abubakar Qarat and who is also known as Abu Baker Qawwal

came from Multan. When my teacher was asked with him
about details of holy and learned persons of Multan and in its
surrounding areas. First, he has praised very much Hazrat Baha
Uddin Zikeria Multani that his worship and mystical endeavours
are very much an outreach of the description. Even his maids in
the working condition never neglect the remembrance of Allah.
There available his favours of saintliness in all surrounding
areas.
Hazrat Nizamuddin said” Abu Baker Qawwal told that “ He was
recited his poetry to Hazrat Bahauddin Zakaria Multani. And he
has forgotten the phrase in between and Hazrat Baha Uddin
Zakaria Multani has reminded him phrases which he has
forgotten by me.”
Hazrat Nizamuddin told him that “There was no effect upon
my heart about the conversation of Abu Baker Qawwal. And
nor there was no devotion which created into my heart. Then
Abu Baker Qawwal told about Pak Patan where there is one
holy person of Allah and with the higher condition. And who
has conquered all the world by his saintliness and the world is
lighted by the light of his knowledge. And his name is well
known and famous as Hazrat Masud Ganj Shaker.
Hazrat Nizamuddin said that “When he was heard about the
praise of Hazrat Baba Ganj Shaker then there was created love
for him in my heart. Then I made my habit and began reciting
his holy name after every prayer. And I used to recite 10 times
Shaikh Farid and 10 times Moulana Farid and unless and until
there will be no recital of the above then there will be no peace
at all to my heart in this matter. Then my friends were known
20

about my love of the innermost. And they swear for me in the

name of love of the shaikh.

9.Who is your peer? and from whom you ask his help and
protection

Hazrat Nizamuddin said that “ When he became 16 years old
when he was migrated to Delhi from Badadyun. On the way,
there was one person and his name was Awadh who
accompanied us in our caravan of the journey. When there will
be a situation of danger will be found on the way during the
journey period then he will call “Oh peer help me and give me
your protection.”
Hazrat Nizamuddin was asked him” Who is your peer from
whom you ask his help and protection.”? Hazrat Nizamuddin
said that person told me that “My peer is the same person
whom he has attracted your heart from him. And who made
fondness of his love in your heart. His is shaikh of the world
Hazrat Farid Eldin Ganj Shaker.”
Hazrat Nizamuddin said that “From that day my sincerity and
faith were increased in the service of the Baba Farid Ganj
Shaker. As such that when I have reached Delhi and when I was
heard qualities and attributes of the shaikh of the world Baba
Faird by his brother and caliph Shaikh Najib Mutwakil so, for
this reason, my interest and fondness was increased more and
more in this matter. During this time three years were passed
away very soon.

10. Two great holy persons
21

Hazrat Nizamuddin said that” I have asked my relatives and

friends to make him a disciple of any holy person upon my
pledge to any holy person.” And all have said that in Delhi there
is no great and holy person of Allah than Shaikh Abu Najib
Mutwakil. So you become a disciple of him in Delhi. I went in
his presence and request him for my pledge at his hands and
then he told him that “ At the present time in India there are
two holy people of Allah one is Hazrat Bahuddin Zakaria
Multani and Hazrat Baba Farid in Pakpatam. You become a
disciple of any one of the above holy persons and get your
destination.”

11.The peer who is helper and intercessor

When Hazrat Nizamuddin was heard about two genius holy

persons by Hazrat Najib Uddin Mutwakil then fondness and
devotion of which was such overpower upon him that Hazrat
Nizamuddin without intention went on the journey. And when
he has reached Hansi but could not cover onward journey by
single person and alone due to law and order situation. So he
was halted at Hansi for waiting of the caravan of the travelers
and after two or three days when the caravan was ready then
he was accompanied with them on his onward journey. There
was one guide of the caravan and all people were following the
way shown by him. And all were going behind him and where
ever he will go during the journey period. Where ever there will
22

arrive at the danger place then that person will stand and cry in
loud voice and say that “ Oh peer help and intercessor us at this
time.”
Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya has asked him “Who is your peer.?”
And from him, you are calling for your help.” And that person
told him that” My peer is shaikh of all shaikhs and the world
Hazrat Baba Farid Ganj Shaker.”
Upon hearing the reply from him there was increased my
fondness of Pakpatam. And I have started my journey and have
reached Sirsa village. And from where there will go two ways
and one way to Multan and another way to Pakpatm. At that
time there were worries in this matter whether to go either
Multan or Ajhodan.? And three days in this suspense. And I
could not decide where to go.?

12.Seeing the prophet in the dream

Hazrat Nizamuddin said that “In this suspense on which way

I should go. But could not able to know this matter. In the third
night I have seen the prophet in my dream and who told me
that “ Moulana Nizamuddin to go on the way of Pakpatam.”
Upon saying of the prophet I was able to know that my
destination is Pakpatam. And I will get my holy aim in
pakpatam.”

13.There was fondness to kiss his foot

Hazrat Nizamuddin said that “ Upon saying of the prophet I
went on the way of Pakpatam. And discontinued all my daily
23

recitals and daily round of practice and by saying Ya Farid, Ya

Farid went on the journey of Pakpatm and was reached at
Pakpatam on the Wednesday on the 15th of Rajab month in the
year 355 Hegira. And at the time of the Zuhar prayer I have
blessed the kissing of the foot of the Hazrat Baba Farid. Baba
Farid by seeing my face he was proceeded further toward me
and said the salam first to me and welcomed me and he recited
this following couplet.
In those days there was great fame for the greatness and
miracles of Baba Farid Ganj Shaker. During the meetings of
Sheikh Najibuddin Mutawakil, Sheikh Nizamuddin becomes an
admirer of Baba Farid and wanted to see him upon hearing the
events and endeavours of his life. In the morning without
traveling expenses and convenience facilities, Sheikh
Nizamuddin started his journey towards Ajodan by walking on
his feet and he was met Baba Faird on Thursday and upon
seeing Baba Saheb recited the following Persian couplet.

Sheikh Nizamuddin wanted to explain Baba Farid, his condition
of the eagerness of the heart and sincerity, but due to his fear,
he could not say anything in this matter.

14.The worthy person for the saintliness of India

Hazrat Nizamuddin said that “ He was made a pledge at the

hands of Baba Farid and who was shaikh of the world. He was
given me four corner Turkey cap which he was wearing on his
head and also given me qirqa (saintly dress) and wooden
24

sandals.” And upon this, he told me that “ Moulana Nizamuddin

I want to give saintliness of India to some another person but
you came on the way. And there came an invisible voice in
which it was told that “ Wait Nizamuddin Badayuni is coming
and who is eligible for the saintliness and so saintliness should
be given to him.”
Hazrat Nizamuddin said that “ He became disciple but he
did not have the intention to shave off the hairs of his head as
there will be feeling of the shame with me to sit in the meeting.
But after that I have seen the next day when Bader Uddin Ishaq
was cutting hairs of his head then in him I was found some light
in him. And then after this two-three persons were cut hairs of
the their heads and in their manifest and innermost which were
found light for this reason. Then I said that I will also cut hairs
of my head and said this to Bader Uddin Ishque and who has
requested in the service of Baba Farid and he was given the
order to clean the head and immediately I have shaved my
hairs of the head. And at the time when I was present in his
service of Baba, Farid and who was given an order to put a bed
for me. I thought in mind that Quran-conners and lovers of the
court of Baba Farid who will take rest on the earth so how he
can have comfort on the bed. And when this information was
reached to Bader Uddin ishaque then he told me that “Whether
you follow your saying or the instruction of the shaikh?.”
Hazrat Nizamuddin said that “I am a follower of the order
shaikh of the world. Then afterward I have put the bed in the
upside position so its rush string for plaiting bedstead was
touched with the earth. Then I was rested upon it. This trick
was the same as per the order of Baba Farid. And in it was
25

there respect. So it was confirmed as per the above two things

of order as well as respect in this matter.

15.It is also compulsory for the obtaining knowledge of

manifest for the darwesh persons
Somebody was asked with him what was his age at the time
of his devotion.”? He said that “ Twenty years, I said in the
presence of the shaikh of the world, your honour what is your
order for me.? If there will be order then leave learning and
teaching and will be engaged in recital and supererogatory
prayers.”?. Then shaikh told him that “ I did not prohibit
anybody from learning and teaching. So do this and that and
watch one of them will be overpowered there. But It is also
compulsory for obtaining knowledge of manifest for the
darwesh persons.

16.The system of the shrine of Baba Farid Ganj shaker

In the book Fawad Al-Fawaid it is mentioned that when he

has found the effects of fear in me then he said that “Welcome
to safety and inshallah there will find my son the grace of both
worlds to you.”
Hazrat Nizamuddin said that “When he has become a disciple
of Baba Farid then he wants to surrender his time and hours in
his service and employment. And think it as blessing .In those
days there was very much poverty in the shrine. It happened
26

usually that darwesh persons related to the shrine and sons

used to have breakfasting 2 or 3 times in the week. And due to
blessing of his company, there will be not difference on the
condition the persons
One day Khaja Jamaluddin Hansavi brought from the jungle
one local fruit of dela (tenti) which is found usually in Rajasthan
and North India and its tree is called Karil.

This fruit is available in the market during summers. Khaja

Ishauqe brought firewood from the jungle. And Khaja
Nizamuddin was put the dela (tenti) fruits in the boiling water
on the firewood. Husamuddin kalbi used to bring water and
wash utensils in the kitchen.
The firewood was brought from the jungle by Moulana
Baderuddin Ishauqe and dela (tenti) fruits were brought by
Jalaluddin and the water was brought there by Husamuddin
and he was boiling the fruit on the firewood. And it will be
presented to all persons at the time of breakfast. And for this
food, there will be available salt or not. Near the mosque of the
shrine, there is the shop of grocessor and when there will be
received money from victories then at that time from that
grocessry there will be purchase food grains and spises from
him.
27

17.The loan and trust on Allah

By chance at that time there was no salt available in the

public kitchen to put into the dela (tenti) fruits so Khaja
Nizamuddin went to the shopkeeper and brought some salt on
credit basis from there.
Upon arrangement of the food on the eating cloth all
Darwesh were present there so Sheikh started eating the food
with supplication and put his first morsel in his mouth, but
immediately he put back it on the eating cloth and told the
Darwesh persons “It is heavy morsel and there is doubt in this
matter,?” Upon hearing this Khaja Nizamuddin stood and with
great respect he was explaining him that the firewood was
brought from the jungle by Moulana Baderuddin Ishauqe and
dela (tenti) fruits were brought by Jalamuddin and the water
was brought there by Husamuddin and he was boiling the fruit
on the firewood so he could not know how the morsel was
becoming heavy in this matter?. After one minute of silence the
Sheikh asked him “ From where the salt was coming there.?”
Upon hearing this Khaja Nizamuddin was surprised at this
matter and while folding his two hands, he was told “ Your
honour your personality which knows all revelation that it was
his mistake that the dela (tent) fruits are sour in nature, so for
this reason it will be difficult to eatable them so for this reason
he was brought the salt from the shopkeeper on the credit
28

basis.” Upon hearing this Sheikh told him to distribute the food
among the beggars and advised him which is as follows.
“ Nizamuddin : it is better condition of Faqa (hunger) for
the Darwesh person than borrowing food for the soul’s
pleasure by the purchasing food on credit.” So Khaja
Nizamuddin determined in heart that he will not borrow loan
from others. So the Sheikh revealed in this matter and he was
given me one blanket and said that “There will be no such
situation of the loan which will arise for him in the future.”
18. The effect of the company
Hazrat Nizamuddin used to say that “When he was made
pledge on the hands of Hazrat Baba Farid then he used to say
always that to agree friends and foes together. And he insist
and give importance upon fulfilling rights of human beings.
Hazrat Nizamuddin said that he was taken one book from one
person for reading and which was lost by him. Also I was taken
20 chitals from one person. When I was heard many time times
saying of Baba Faird then I was able to know that he was aware
of condition of my heart.I thought that when I will go to Delhi
then I will fulfil the rights of the above persons. Then time came
that I was reached to Delhi. But at that time I did not have that
book and 20 chitals with to give that person from whom I have
bought cloth for me.One day came I0 chitals with me and I
went to house of that person and called him then he came out
of his house.” I told him that I am not in position to pay your
amount of 20 chitals in one time and I have ten chitals with me
29

so you take this money. And if there will be will of Allah I will
pay balance amount soon to you.”
Hazrat Nizamuddin said that upon hearing my conversation
he told that “ You have returned back from holy spiritual
master. So you pay me 10 chitals and for balance amount I will
forgive for you.”
Hazrat Nizamuddin said that” Then he went to see that
person from whom he has taken the book for reading. And
which was lost by me. And I told him that I will try to obtain
that book and will give you copy of that book.” Upon hearing
my conversation he told me that “This is effect of the place
from where you have come back here. And then he was
forgiven me for that book.”

19. The blessing of saintly dress of Chistia Sufi order

Hazrat Nizamuddin told that “Baba Farid was given me his

special saintly dress. And that saintly dress was belongs to
higher grade sufi chain of Chistia and which I have with me.”
Upon obtaining this saintly dress I went on journey to Delhi
from Pakpatam and there was one friend with me. During the
journey there was one jungle in which robbers used to loot the
travelers. At that time rain falling was started. And we have
stayed under shed of one tree there. There was came thought in
to my mind that if the robbers will snatch my special saintly
30

dress so in that condition I will not go to any city or place of

habitation and will settled down in any jungle place for this
reason.Still there was thought in my heart that the robbers
were passed away before us not doing any damage to us. And
in this way due to sake of the saintly dress of the Sufi chain of
Chistia we were safe and secure in the jungle area from the
robbers.

20. During the period of whole life he did not purchased any
house
In the book Sair Auliya it is mentioned that during the period
of whole life Hazrat Nizamuddin did not purchased any house
independently. When he was arrived from Badayun to Delhi
first time he was stayed in bazaar in one sarai which was
famous and well known as Namak Sarai in which he was stayed
with his mother and sister in this place and he was stayed in the
nearby area of the cemetery of Falan Qawwal.”In this place
there was house Hazrat Amir Khusro. After some days the
house of Rawat Arz was vacated and by source of Amir khusro
he was shifted in that house. and which was situated near the
Mandra bridge adjacent to the Delhi fortress as such that its
bridge was entered into the house. The building was very wide
and as well as it was on higher level.

21. Result of vacating the house

31

Syed Kirmani was the father of the compiler of the book Sair
Auliya. When he was migrated with his family members from
Pakpatam to Delhi and he was settled down in one house near
the house of Hazrat Nizamuddin and that house has three
floors and on the below floor Syed Kirmani used to live along
with his family members. On the middle floor, Hazrat
Nizamuddin used to live in it. And the upper floor was reserved
for the persons of Sufi way. And on this floor, there will be
cooked food for them.
The father of the author of Sair Auliya said that “In those days
except him nobody was junior to him in that building there. I
have two salves with me whom I have purchased from the
market. There was no servant in the service of Hazrat
Nizamuddin and for cooking service for him which will be done
by my mother who was a disciple of the shaikh of world Baba
Farid. My father was a fellow disciple of his father. At the time
of breakfasting who will bring for him food. And other services
like making him ablution and putting earthen clod in the toilet
was my duty. In short in this way, a period of two years was
passed away. The sons of Rawat Garz came from the journey.
And they have not given much time to search another house
and shift into it with comfort. At last except his books, there
was nothing other goods were there for him in the house and I
have put his books upon my head and which I took to the
Chappar mosque which was opposite of the house of the Siraj
shop keeper. One night he was spent in that place. In the house
of Rawaz Graz there was such great fire accident that all house
building burnt down and leveled on the ground.”
32

Syed Kirmani’s family lived in the villa of the mosque. And

next day Saeed Kagzi who was a disciple of Hazrat Shaikh
Saderuddin Arif who he has heard all this story than with much
love he has taken Hazrat Nizamuddin to his house and he was
given to him an upper floor to live him there and for Syed
Kirmani another house was vacated. And he was lived in that
house for a period of one month. And after one month he was
shifted into another house in the area of Sarai Kabdar which
was adjacent to the Qaiser bridge. In that Sarai, there was one
house in which he was shifted. And family members of Syed
Kirmani were given one room for living them. And after this
after a long period of time, he was shifted from here to the
house of Shad Kali and which was in between of shop of
Mohammed fruit seller. But relatives of Shamsuddin Sharabdar
who were his devotees and disciples who did not allow him to
stay in the above house. After many requests, they have taken
him into the house of Shamsuddin. Comparing to other houses
there was available to him much comfort and peace in this
house.

22. The feast of Khaja Mohammed Nailn Doze

In Sair Auliya it is mentioned that in that locality one holy

person used to reside there and his name was Khaja
Mohammed Nailin Doze. And his fingers were always colored
with leather color. And once he was met with Hazrat Khizer
(A.S.). One time he has arranged a banquet of Hazrat
Nizamuddin along with other three friends and he has brought
33

Khichdi ( rice boiled in split pulse ) in one tray out of the house
before the guests and by chance, there was available more salt
in it. When friends began eating they began saying about its
defect in this matter. He told that “Do not say to him anything
as a little salt was there in the house and who was cooked it
and presented before all of you.”

23. The advice of invisible people

Hazrat Nizamuddin said that he was in worry that there

should be an arrangement of residence somewhere. One day I
went to the garden in Rani Bagh. This garden is called Bagh
Hasrat. When I have done ablution and performed two Rakat of
prayer and engage in the hymen there. And said “ Oh Allah I do
not want to reside as per my option. Where there will be
welfare and the good of my world and religion send to me
there.”
Hazrat Nizamuddin said that still I was busy in pray and at
that, I was heard one invisible call in which it was said that your
place is in Ghiaspur. I have not heard ever name of Ghiaspur
and was surprised where it is there? Then I went to the house
of one of my friend Neshpuri so that to ask him where is
Ghiaspur.?. The household people told him that he has gone to
Ghiapur.”Then I said in my heart that it is sure that it is the
same Ghiaspur where he has given the order to reside.
Hazrat Nizamuddin said that I came to Ghiaspur along with my
friend. And this village was not much habituated and nobody
did not know about it. I have settled in this place. As such that
Sultan Moizuddin Keqabad at the bank of river Joan in
34

Kelokhedi has constructed a palace and one Jama mosque

there. Then at that time, there were a large number of rich
persons of the city were came there. Then due to the rush and
a large number of people, there was a disturbance to me and
for my daily work. Then I thought in my mind to go somewhere
from here. Then decided that tomorrow there is the 3rd day of
the Fatiha meeting for the passing of the reward for the
deceased Moulana Aminuddin Muhadit. And I will participate in
it. And live in the city area where there is less traffic of the
coming and going of the people there.
Hazrat Nizamuddin said that “During this time there came
one young beautiful man and who was a weak person. And on
his face, there were find effects of perfection. And he may be
an invisible person or who is not known came to see and he sat
near me. And he recited two couplets before me.”
Hazrat Nizamuddin said he addressed me and he said that
“First he did not become famous when Almighty Allah made
him famous then he should not say such and such thing and
from which he should be ashamed before the prophet on the
day judgment.”
Hazrat Nizamuddin that he said that “What is this courage and
bravery is that to be separate from the mankind and search for
a lonely corner than engage in the remembrance of Allah.”
Hazrat Nizamuddin said that when he has finished his
conversation then I have presented before him some food but
he did not put his hand in it. Then I have made the intention
that I will live here and did not go some other place then he has
eaten some little food and went away from there.” Hazrat
35

Nizamuddin said that after that he did not see that person
again in my life at any place.”

24. The perpetual fasting

In Sair Auliya it is mentioned that I was in the boat along with

shaikh of world Baba Farid and other darwesh persons were
also with us there. There was a severe season of the summer.
So darwesh persons slept there for this reason. I was busy by
hand fanning of the Baba Farid. And he was asked about
darwesh persons and I told him that some of them are taking
rest. Then Baba Farid told me that “ Come on I want to say
something to you. When you will reach Delhi to follow
endeavors there and do not live idle. It does not matter that
keeping of the fasting is halfway and other remaining deeds
such as Hajj and others are also another halfway.”
Hazrat Nizamuddin told that “ After Baderuddin Ishaque told
me that Hazrat Shaikh of the world was performed this boat
travel for the sake of you.” It means by this travel you have
obtained many pieces of advice from the Shaikh of the world.
Hazrat Nizamuddin told that due to the advice of the Shaikh of
the world I have such fondness that I could not ask with him
which type of endeavors I should adopt in this matter. At last, I
have told in this matter to other darwesh persons and they
have advised me to follow Saim Daher it means to keep always
fasting. And it is not given clear advice in this matter so
sometime there will be a gap of keeping fasting by me in this
matter.

36

25. The sustenance will come from an invisible source

Hazrat Nizamuddin said during the rule of Sultan Ghiasuddin

Balbon there will be available two munds musk melon for two
chitals. All season will pass away but I did not eat it. And I will
be happy in this matter. And I desire in this matter that there
should be passed the season of musk melon not eating by me.
In the last season, one person came with bread and musk
melons with him for me. As it was from an invisible source so I
accepted it and
I ate it.
Hazrat Nizamuddin said that “One time night was passed
away and another night came. But I and my family members did
not eat anything. And in those days there will be available in
market one kilo of bread in one chital but I did not have any
money with me to purchase bread and eat it. And in such
conditions, if any person will bring sugar candy or sugar and
cloth as a gift then by selling it I can fulfill my desire. But I will
do that whatever will be found by the invisible source which
will be used by me. But is apparent that by these things hunger
can not go away.?”

26. Dry Khichdi

In Khair Majalis written by Nasir Uddin Chiragh Dehlavi that he

was heard by the holy tongue of Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya that
when I used to reside near door Manda which in the fortress of
the city bridge. Then at that time 2 or 3 days were passed away
but did not receive money from victories. At last, one person
37

came to the door and knock on the chain of the door. And I told
to go and see who is there at the door.? When he has opened
the door and find one person who was holding one tray of the
Khichdi in his hands. And that person was given a tray and went
away from there. When that person came inside then I was
asked that person do you know who was person.? But that
person told him that he did not know the person. At last, we
have eaten Khichdi together. And we find much taste in that
dry Khichdi ( rice boiled in split pulse ) which was not found
before.

27. Still there is required to keep us hungry

In the book Sair Auliya it is mentioned that when Hazrat

Nizamuddin was settled down in Ghiapur then at that time
there were many days of starvation with him there. After
hunger for 3 or 4 days, his friends used to do begging in the city
and collect whatever pieces of bread and they put on the eating
cloth. And break with the fast. One day friends have kept the
piece of bread on the eating cloth and waiting for breakfast
time. At that time one darwesh came there and he ate those
pieces of the bread by thinking that all have eaten food and
those bread pieces were left there. At that time Shaik was
smiled and he said that “Still there is required to keep us
hungry.”

              28. To become a helper in the works of the religion

38

In the shrine of Hazrat Nizamuddin, there was such

condition of starvation and due to this state of the friends and
servants became very worse. One day when this news reached
sultan Jalaluddin Khiji then he has sent victory money for him.
And he has also asked if there will be ordered then the village
will be given for the endowment for expenses of the servants.
So that they can engage peacefully in the worship of Allah in
this way.
Hazrat Nizamuddin did not accept the request of Sultan
Alauddin Khilji. When the servants were able to know in this
matter so all of them went into the presence of Hazrat
Nizamuddin and they told him that “you do not receive one
paise from the income of the endowment of the villages but we
are facing the condition of hunger and starvation very much.”
Hazrat Nizamuddin upon hearing their conversation he
thought in his mind that I do not mind by their sayings. What
more they can do that in the helpless condition they will leave
my company. Yes, I have to ask their opinion so that their
examination can be done for the acceptance of the world. So
he was asked Syed Kirmani and other sincere friends whether
to accept villages are not.?
All have said that “ Moulana Nizamuddin now we ate your
bread but if you accept allotment of the villages then we will
not drink water in your house.”
Hazrat Nizamuddin was happy to hear the conversation and he
said that “ he ignores other people and my aim is with all of
you. So my heart is much happy to hear this. Thanks to Allah
you are my helpers for the work of the religion. And friends
should be like this.”
39

29. The condition of content

In the Sair Auliya, it is mentioned that when Hazrat Nizamuddin

Auliya went to Pakpatam then at that time his dress became
dirty and it was in the poor condition. Bibi Rani wife of Syed
Kirmani told him that “To give his dress to her and she will wash
and stitching in it.”
Hazrat Nizamuddin could not give his dress to her due to
shame. But upon her insisting he was given his dress to her.
And she was given lungi of Syed Kirmani to him and asked with
it to wear as Tahbund and give his dress to her. So in such
helpless condition, he was given her his dress for washing and
stitching. She was washed his dress and near the edge of the
shirt done complete patchwork with cloth from the turban of
Syed Kirmani. Then he has worn his dress with many obligations
and thanks in this matter. And till the end of their life, he was
remembered his help. And with Syed Kirmani he was treated
with much love and favour.

30. The fragrance of the love of Allah

In Sair Auliya it is mentioned that when he was settled down at

the door of the Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin said “ I was in
much worry condition. And think myself as a poor person and
where is an intimate knowledge of Allah? and I am not suitable
to get the respect of this grace. Then I went on the grave of
40

Hazrat Rasan with this intention that my name may be included

among accepted persons of Allah.
Hazrat Nizamuddin said that “There was one tree of tamarind
on the grave of Hazrat Rasan and which was dry since long
period of time. During my Chilla (Chilla (Persian: , Arabic: , both
literally "forty") is a spiritual practice of penance and solitude in
Sufism known mostly in Indian and Persian traditions. ... The
word chilla is derived from the Persian word chehel "forty".
Chilla is commonly performed in a solitary cell called a chilla-
khana.)period it became again green and fresh. I was stood
before the grave of Hazrat Rasan and said that “Hazrat in forty
days period there was a change in the condition of the tree but
there are no changes in my condition.”
Hazrat Nizamuddin said that “ By saying this I went towards
my house. I have seen on the way one person is coming in
walking and falling condition and I thought that person an
intoxicated person. And I was moved from his side. But he was
paid attention to me. When I was moved other side then he
came to see me on that side. At last in the helpless condition, I
was stood there and said in my heart that “To see who is that
person and what he does in this matter.”
Hazrat Nizamuddin said that “ When he came near to me then
he was embraced with me by spreading his two hands. And
there was coming from his mouth and chest the smell of scent
and amber and I was able to know that he is Hazrat Rasan. And
he told me that Sufi there is coming smell of love Allah from
your chest.” And by saying this Hazrat Rasan was disappeared
from there. Then I was able to know that by favor of Allah I will
41

get the love of Allah and intimate knowledge of Allah. As Shaikh

Rasan was said as such.

31. My going towards Allah

It is mentioned in Sair Auliya that during the day's hunger
and starvation one person came to the shrine of Hazrat
Nizamuddin and when he has seen the condition of hunger and
starvation then he told him that “ I know knowledge of
chemistry and as well as knowledge of zahbi (gold) and if there
will be your order then I will teach this art to any of your
servants. So that there will go condition of hunger and
starvation and there will be available easy circumstances.
Hazrat Nizamuddin smiled and said to him that “Oh my dear
friend I do not require your wealth and gold. And my direction
is toward Allah and other remaining things are greediness only.

         32. The excess of the self-denial

Hazrat Nizamuddin said that “During the days when he was

in Pakpatam in the company of Baba Farid and there was one
friend who was a learned person and who was my class fellow.
And we both have a discussion of the issues of the knowledge
and he came to Pakpatan and he has seen me in an old dress.
And when he has seen me in such a condition then he was
regretful for it. And told me that what condition you have
42

adopted. And if you were a teacher in Delhi then you will be a

jurist of time there and your life will be in easy circumstances.
Hazrat Nizamuddin told that “ I could not give a reply to my
friend. When I went in the presence of Baba Farid then I was
able to know that Baba Sahib was able to know my condition by
his revelation of the innermost. He told me that “ If your friend
will meet you and he will regret upon your condition and will
say that “ What you made your condition and if you will
become a teacher then what you will reply to him in this
matter?.”
Hazrat Nizamuddin said that he told him, “Your honour, you
say in this matter. And he said one couplet in the Persian
language.
Then Hazrat Nizamuddin told me that afterward Baba Farid
told me that “To go and bring different kinds of dishes in the
tray and take them in the presence of your friend.” I have acted
as per the order of my shaikh of the world. When my friend was
seen this then he came near me by weeping and he was taken
out a tray of dishes from the head and he told me that “Why
you have done like this.”? I told him that “ My spiritual master
was given me this order.” When he has heard my conversation
then he told me that “ Your spiritual master was taken you such
a place of mortification. You take me to your spiritual master. I
told him first we will have food then I will take you in the
presence of my spiritual master. My friend told his servant to
take away the tray of the disease from there. I told him that “ I
will not do like this. Put the tray of dishes upon my head. And I
will go same as come here.” Then I have taken my friend in the
43

presence of Baba Farid. And then my friend was a made pledge

on the hand of Baba Farid and he became a disciple of him.

    33. Oh Allah, give me sustenance without any source.

In the book Jawab Kalam, it is mentioned that there was

starvation with Hazrat Nizamuddin for many days. And he did
not receive money from victories. And one teacher was able to
know in this matter. And he was told some weavers who used
to live there. And he told it is regret that there is one holy
person living in your locality and he is passing starvation for
many days. And you did not have information. The weavers
were prepared meals at the same time and went into his
presence. When he has started his meals then one weaver told
him there is mercy upon that teacher. Then he has to stretch
away from his hand from the meals. And he told him “What you
have told.?” that weaver has mentioned statement of the
teacher that if that he will not say to them then they did not
know in this matter.” He was become sad after hearing the
conversation of the weaver. And he said, “By swear of the head
of the shaikh I will not eat this meals.” The weavers were
ashamed severally in this matter. And they said that person has
spoken conversation without manners so kindly forgive his
mistake. And eat the meals. He told that “Whatever you have
done by you only. And take back these meals. And eat by
yourself. And to him, absolute sustainer will provide substance
without any source.”
44

               34. The cauldron of indigence of manifest

In Sair Arifin it is mentioned that at the beginning from Hazrat

Nizamuddin who has obtained the first status of devotion and
first the caliphate was Hazrat Burhanuddin Gharib and he was
sent by him to Deccan and the city Burhanuddin was
established in his name. The tomb of Hazrat Burhanuddin
Gharib is situated in Doulatbad and his second caliph was
Moulana Kamal Uddin Yakoob. And he sent toward the Gujrat
area. In the city Patam near the water reservoir of Sham Ling,
his tomb is situated there. His grave in Patam is famous even
today for the fulfillment of the desires and wishes of the
persons who visit his grave. These two holy persons were
engagement in worship and endeavors in the service of the
felicity of the Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya. One time there was
not received money from victories for four days. From which
there will be opened fasting. In his neighborhood, there was
one old pious woman who used to reside there. And she has
devotion with him. She used to get labor charges by running
the weaving machine of yarn and purchase barley from the
bazaar and by grinding it she will get flour and cook bread
without salt and she used to break their fasting and on that day
the old lady brought half a kilo of the flour in his service then he
was given the order to Moulana Kamaluddin to put the flour in
the cooking pot with some water in it and there may possible
that there may come any guest in the shrine. Moulana Kamal
did the same as per order and made a fire under the cooking
pot. The cooking pot became so hot and it was so hot that if
any water drop will on the body then it will become blister
45

there. By that time one beggar with blanket wearing came

there. And he said, “Oh shaikh if there is some available food
bring it for him.” Shaikh told him the work of darwesh persons
is kindness. Please enter the house the food is cooking in the
pot.” Darwesh told him that “ You himself stood and bring the
pot before me.” He stood at that time and with sleeves, he
caught the pot so that he could not get burnt and presented
before him. And darwesh began eating food by putting his hand
in the pot. Even though the cooking pot was very hot. And he
was standing by holding the cooking pot there and when
darwesh was finished eating then he was taken the cooking
from the shaikh and throw it on the earth and it was broken
into many pieces. That darwesh told Hazrat Nizamuddin that
“Hazrat Baba Farid was granted you the grace of innermost. I
have broken your cauldron of indigence of the
manifest.”
Then darwesh person was disappeared from there. Then by
that time began coming of a large number of victory amounts,
presents, and amounts of thankfulness which is not possible to
write as well mentioned by the coverage of the speech.

35. Baba Farid's teaching of the pray

In Rahatal Quoob with reference to Hazrat Nizamuddin, it is

mentioned that when he was reached in Pakpatm then at that
time he told him that “ Moulana Nizamuddin remember this
pray and then he has recited the following prayer.
“Oh, the mercy of the mankind oh opener of both hands with
giving and awarding and giver of good, the repeller of
46

hardships, epidemics, oh sender of blessing on the prophet

Mohammed his progeny. Forgive our daily sins and forgive us.
And give us death on the Islamic religion and connect with the
pious persons. There is a blessing on prophets and messengers
and closed angels. You are more merciful than other merciful.”
Hazrat Nizamuddin said that “ Your honor it is very good.”
Hazrat Nizamuddin said that in those days he was engaged too
much in the condition of engrossment. Bab Farid told me that
“if you remember this pray and follow this pray then I will
appoint you my caliphate.”
Hazrat Nizamuddin told that as per order he was done like
that and came to the city. He was visited baba Farid in
Pakpatam from Delhi three times.

36. His love and sincerity is still there

Shaikh of the world Baba Farid said one day that “One person
became my disciple and he was with me for some days period
then he left to his place and he comes back again in his
previous condition. And in the same way one another person
who was become, my disciple. And till in my presence, he
remained in good condition but when he left from the company
then he was coming back in his previous condition. But since his
arrival time, Moulana Nizamuddin did not return back to his
previous condition. And his love and sincerity are still there.
