Activity 1: Answer the following questions based on your


understanding of the topic presented.

1. What is Family Planning (FP)? What is the difference between


the Natural FP and the Artificial FP methods?
Family planning entails having the number of
children you want and when you want them using modern,
safe, and effective ways. Natural Family Planning
Methods, also known as Fertility Awareness Based
Methods, are based on human fertility awareness
concepts. Artificial Family Planning Methods, on the other
hand, are any unnatural contraception methods.

2. What is the only family planning method that provides the


best protection against sexually-transmitted infection (STIs)
and HIV? Give at least 3 disadvantages of using this method.

Condoms are the only method of contraception that can


prevent the transfer of sexually transmitted infections
like HIV.
The following are some of the disadvantages of condom
use:

3. What is Intrauterine Device (IUD)? What are the advantages


and disadvantages of using IUD?
Intrauterine devices (IUDs) are small devices that are
implanted in your uterus to prevent insemination.
The IUD's advantages and disadvantages
Depending on the type, it protects against pregnancy for 5
or 10 years. When an IUD is implanted, it begins working
immediately. It is usable by the vast majority of people who
have a womb. There are no adverse hormonal effects such
as acne, headaches, or breast tenderness.

1. What are the 3 criteria that must be met before using Lactation
Amenorrhea Method (LAM)? Why is this method only effective
during the first 6 months after giving birth?
This must be met in order to ensure adequate protection

Amenorrhea Method (LAM):

2. What are the benefits of Family Planning for the mother,


father, and children? Discuss the benefits for each member of
the family.
The benefits of family planning

providing for his family. Allows him to provide for his
children's basic needs (food, shelter, education, and better
future). Allows him to devote more time to his family and
personal development. Allows enough time for treatment
and recovery when suffering from an illness.
