CHAPTER-1

INTRODUCTION

1
Introduction

I have select the topic of this report on “International Marketing on Akash Engineering Works.”

I tried to integrate my theoretical knowledge and combine it with practical examples as observed
during my internship. I have tried to cover all the major functions of Human Resource
Management- recruitment, selection, compensation and benefits, training and development and
convey my understandings of the different functions of Human Resource Management through
this project. At the end of the report I have done a SWOT Analysis on the Marketing Practice of
Akash Engineering Works followed by discussing critical points. I have also tried to provide
some recommendations based on my knowledge followed by the conclusion which I gathered
during my internship.

International Marketing defined At its simplest level, international marketing involves the firm in
making one or more marketing mix decisions across national boundaries. At its most complex, it
involves the firm in establishing manufacturing/processing facilities around the world and
coordinating marketing strategies across the globe. At one extreme there are firms that opt for
‘international marketing’simply by signing a distribution agreement with a foreign agent who
then takes on the responsibility for pricing, promotion, distribution and market development. On
the other hand with same gratitude and marketing skills akash engineering also want to lead
therie market in domestic as well as foreign markets and I had that great chance to become a part
of them as an intern.

Environmental study

The various external factors like political, economic, social, technological (PEST) which impacts
its business along with legal & environmental factors. The PESTLE Analysis highlights the
different extrinsic scenarios which impact the business of the brand.

PESTLE analysis is a framework which is imperative for companies such as , as it helps to

understand market dynamics & improve its business continuously. PESTLE analysis is also
referred to as PESTEL analysis.

Let us start the PESTLE Analysis:

Political Factors:
According to recent data Akash engineering works have contacted with more than 10 countries
around the globe and thus several political factors affect the day to day operations of the
organization are many. A major task that the organization needs to perform is to keep a track of
the various changes that are made in the various policies related to import, export, taxation,
environmental regulations, etc. in these countries. These changes may sometimes be in favor of
the organization, but sometimes are major bottlenecks to production in certain countries.

A positive happened when India reduced its corporate tax in its latest budget. This gives the
group an advantage to produce more and better-quality products at a lower cost and serve the
society better.

Economic Factors:
Below are the economic factors in the PESTLE Analysis

With the Akash Engineering group operating across multiple countries, it becomes a mandate to
create various economic policies, relating to the economic conditions prevailing in that country.

9
With affordability being a major factor, providing quality foods for all in a market where the
prices of the raw materials keep fluctuating due to various political and environmental factors is
a major challenge. The cost of the raw materials of steel and other industrial products has been
increasing, with trade wars continuing between China and the US creating further unrest between
suppliers. The lower rise in disposable incomes, posed by the difficulty of producing and
supplying quality Such situations are common when the rate of the exchange rate of currency
drops or increases or there is some political unrest in the region.

Social Factors:
Following are the social factors impacting PESTLE Analysis:

Any company that works on such a large scale, gets affected by even the slightest change in
trends created by the consumers. Working towards trends related to improved health and low
price of high end products ,that’s why the ceo vijay singh had made the decision to work at
optimum level of production to maintain the change in price due to small changes and reduce
competition during trade wars. The success of the company depends on their ability to anticipate
the needs of the customer, and be able to offer high quality, competitive, relevant and innovative
product.

Technological Factors:
Akash engineering group believes in the integration of digital solutions, services, and models,
both internal and external. With increasing cyber-attacks disrupting the reliability, security, and
privacy of data, a contingency plan needs to be developed to avoid major mishaps while trying to
expand into the digital segment. To overcome the days quality with adequate quantity, company
is linked with todays technological word, they use to search optimal technologies with

sustainable industrialization without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their
own needs.

10
CHAPTER-2

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

11
Statement of the problem
As the company is very old in this field of manufacturing high end kitchen equipment for
commercial use, either it don’t have much experience of outer world and international trading
and outsourcing the needs and understanding foreign market, their needs according to the
customer.

They are best in providing their full efforts to any projects to make their needs easy to work in
day to day work in heavy pressure of cooking fast and tasty.

They try to make things handy and easy to access for human kind.

Main thing that I recommend in their feed is to make their marketing more digital and socialized
by the firms that can advertise them at international scale.

Also the company needs to collaborate with other local distributors or traders who understand the
needs of their locals to bring them the best and easy to use equipment’s.

If the problem doesn’t solve then they might get lost in this big market as due to international
marketing there are international oppositions who duly wants to overcome the markets with new
and strong ideas. That’s why company needs to understand the trend and make then updated with
technologies and as well as marketing ideas.

If they don’t do that then they might not get proper quantity orders and that will led in reduced
production which will automatically affect the value of company and its revenue.

12

CHAPTER-3

CONCEPTUAL DISCUSSION

18
CONCEPTUAL DISCUSSION

Review of literature
Akash engineering works is a milestone in their field and well known for their quality and price
over the market. But this market is very competitive these days and also the impact of products
shipment and new procedures have made It more competitive to sell on other countries and
continents. Before also cost of shipment was a major cause in this industry due to heavy weight
of products and making things according to the measurements, changes after a cargo is sent is
very difficult or impossible sometimes which cause big losses too.

Bestekloza a well known brand name in commercial kitchen equipment is not so old in this
business. This company was registered at 2015. And within 5 years of hard work it is one of the
leading company. Main reasons for it to overcome the market so soon is their way of marketing
according to the changing generation and fatly adopting changes in the market.

Maintaining a minimum standard of quality for product design and function has become a
priority for companies entering the global market. Competition on the international market
means competing against different sets of markers and criteria that vary from nation to nation
and region to region. In order to compete on this level, companies must adhere to principals of
quality that are often set by international organizations. International quality standards are
criteria or rules set up by organizations that help determine compliance across national borders.
These rules make it easier to conduct business on a level playing field and also allow more
collaboration by overcoming local or regional constraints. A number of organizations have taken
the lead to set, monitor and manage these standards. The most influential group that monitors
global standards is the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). The ISO helps
define a consensus among participating groups, such as national standards institutes from over
160 counties and various industry associations. The 18,000 and still growing number of
consensus points define standardization rules around environmental issues, telecommunications
guidelines and product design.

19
Current issues

The kitchen equipment market is primarily driven by the rise quality concerns of the hospitality
industry, need for modular & advanced kitchen equipment, and increase in spending power of
the population. Other factors such as smart appliances and cost effective & eco-friendly
equipment are influencing the market. Rising concerns toward health and hygiene, growing
penetration of restaurants and food junctions, need for smart & compact kitchen appliances, and
increasing number of working population are boosting the demand for smart kitchen appliances.
This, in turn, is propelling the kitchen equipment market. Moreover, rise in adoption of ease of
handling equipment having energy efficient and time saving feature are factors that are expected
to fuel the market. Additionally, the hospitality sector is growing in emerging economies,
especially in Asia Pacific.

This is expected to boost the kitchen equipment market during the forecast period. However,
high cost of smart & advance equipment, lack of awareness in underdeveloped nations, poor
quality of kitchen equipment and local players are expected to restrain the market. However, rise
in demand for modular, compatible, and smart & advance kitchen equipment is expected to
create significant opportunities for the global market.

The six main factors that create challenges:

• Cultural limitations.

• Insufficient management preparation.

• Insufficient employee preparation.

• Employee attitudes.

• Specific legal regulations.

• Technological limitations.

20
Cultural Limitations

Cultural limitations, like all other factors, are dependent substantially on the region in which
quality systems are being introduced. Results based on the 100 largest corporations grouped by
asset value demonstrate Africa has the most significant occurrence of cultural challenges. Results
calculated as an arithmetical average of the indicators among the second 100 largest corporations
are least favorable for Central and Eastern Europe. Taking into consideration indicators
researched among all 500 corporations, the position of Africa is the least favorable. However, the
difference dividing this continent from Central and Eastern Europe is very slight. 3 Among the
300 largest corporations, those in North America, Western Europe, Australia and Oceania
consider the level of challenges in Central and Eastern Europe as equal to that of Central
America

Insufficient Management Preparation

The basic requirement of practically every new system change in quality management is the full
involvement of top management. The attitudes of people leading the company should constitute
an example to be followed by other employees, so the • lack of suitable preparation of
managerial staff may be a barrier limiting new concepts or even making it impossible to
implement them. The results of my survey also unanimously prove the influence of insufficient
preparation of management on QMS implementation, but the results are more differentiated than
they were in the case of cultural limitations

Insufficient Employee Preparation

Both susceptibility and inclination of employees to adjust and accept new methods of work
differ depending on the region in which these systems are to be applied. The objective of this
part of the research was to evaluate the extent of challenges resulting from improper preparation
of employees by location of affiliates. An important task that needs thorough analysis is to
identify relationships between this part of the research and the indications obtained for improper

21
management preparation. Correlation between these two issues would verify my thesis that
management preparation is reflected in the attitude presented by other employees toward
introduction of quality systems.

Employee Attitudes

The willingness to acquire knowledge and apply new concepts is dependent on and related to
employees' attitudes or mind-sets, Solutions successful in one region of the world may fail in
another

Specific Legal Regulations

Difficulties in the field ofQMS implementation in affiliates of the world's largest corporations
are also caused by legal regulations. The research results indicate the .scale of challenges in this
case is determined more by type of regulation than by place.

New development of the company and industry

Commercial Kitchen Equipment Market is anticipated to reach USD 112.47 billion by 2025.
Commercial cooking equipment are an important part of food processing & service industry.
This equipment is commonly used in hotels, restaurants, and the other commercial kitchens for
ease in food preparation, and reduction in labor & operational cost and rising concerns regarding
food safety will boost the commercial kitchen equipment industry growth in the years to come.
Increase in disposable income is bound to boost the market growth.

On the other hand, there are factors that may hamper the growth of the commercial kitchen
appliances market such as volatile prices of raw material, and high cost of initial investment in
with regards to the production plant. The market is anticipated to grow at a significant CAGR in

22
the upcoming period as the scope, product types, and its applications are increasing across the
globe.

Commercial kitchen appliances industry may be explored by end user as Fast Food Chain (FFC),
Café & Bar, QSR, Railway Dining, Institutional Canteen, Ferry & Cruise, Resort & Hotel,
Hospital, FSR, and Others. The "QSR" segment dominated the market in 2016 and is anticipated
to maintain its dominance by 2025. The QSR segment is anticipated to grow at the highest
CAGR of 7.5% over the forthcoming period.

GLOBAL QUALITY STANDARDS

Quality standards are defined as documents that provide requirements, specifications, guidelines,
or characteristics that can be used consistently to ensure that materials, products, processes, and
services are fit for their purpose. Standards provide organizations with the shared vision,
understanding, procedures, and vocabulary needed to meet the expectations of their stakeholders.
Because standards present precise descriptions and terminology, they offer an objective and
authoritative basis for organizations and consumers around the world to communicate and
conduct business.

23
WHO USES QUALITY STANDARDS?

Organizations turn to standards for guidelines, definitions, and procedures that help them achieve
objectives such as:

• Satisfying their customers’ quality requirements

• Ensuring their products and services are safe

• Complying with regulations

• Meeting environmental objectives

• Protecting products against climatic or other adverse conditions

• Ensuring that internal processes are defined and controlled

Marketing Manager:

He, along with other marketing activities, also directs and controls physical distribution
activities. Under him, the physical distribution manager is placed. Here, physical distribution is
treated as a part of marketing. He takes care of marketing and distribution activities.

27
Physical Distribution Manager:

He is a direct authority responsible for physical distribution. He works under marketing

manager. His functions involve storage and warehousing, inventory management, transportation,
order processing and dispatching, communication, etc. He coordinates various activities needed
for effective physical distribution. Various officers are appointed under him for each type of
activities.

The officers who work under his direct supervision and control include:

1. Storage and warehousing officer

2. Inventory officer

3. Transportation officer

4. Order processing and dispatching officer

5. Communication officer, etc.

As per need, the required staff is appointed to assist each of these officers in performing their
respective tasks. Sometimes, more officers are appointed for different types of works such as
accountant, packing officers, and so on. The entire department headed by distribution
manager works as a team to deal with total distribution system.

Inventory Management:

Inventory refers to stock of goods meant for the future sales. It can also be said as reservoir
of goods held in anticipation of sales. Demand is fluctuating and exact prediction is not
possible. So, the primary purpose of holding inventory is to meet market demand
continuously. The firm always maintains adequate stocks of products to meet customer
orders immediately. It is considered as a link between ordering and production. Inventory
management supports demand creation and consumer satisfaction. Three types of costs are

28
associated with inventory. The first is, holding costs (carrying costs), which include
warehousing and storage costs, costs of capital tied up in inventory, costs of price decline,
obsolescence, spoilage, pilferages, and taxes and insurance on inventory. The Second is,
costs of stock out or shortage, which include loss of sales, adverse impact on goodwill, losing
customers permanently due to shortage of stocks, and administrative costs. And, the third is,
replenishing or reordering costs (order processing costs), such as preparing and placing
order; transportation, insurances and wastage during movement; and costs of receiving,
inspecting, and handling materials. However, carrying costs and ordering costs are more
important, and if they are balanced, the total costs can be effectively reduced. A company has
to decide on total annual need of inventory, ordering size, and level of inventory (called as
ordering level) at which new order should be placed. It must determine maximum and
minimum quantity that may be needed at any time. The main issues are ordering size – how
much to order, and (reordering) ordering level – when to order.

Ordering and carrying costs are important considerations in inventory management. Ordering
and carrying costs are adversely related. If more inventory/stock is maintained, carrying costs
are high and ordering costs are low. Quite opposite to it, when low level of inventory is
maintained, carrying costs are low, and, due to more frequent order of smaller quantity,
ordering costs go high. Therefore, the manager should decide on the optimum order size to
reduce total cost of inventory. It is necessary to strike out balance between two types of costs
to minimize total costs

Recruitment:

Recruitment is the process by which a firm finds its employees, are perhaps the most critical
tasks any organization faces. Without the right people, no firm can function effectively. For a
recruitment program to be successful, managers should cooperate with the human resources staff
to define needs and predict vacancies. This recruiting may be done by internal or external.

29
Types of Recruitment:

There are two types of recruitment in this organization. They are:

 Internal Recruitment

 External Recruitment.

For Internal Recruitment:

The principal methods are-

 Job posting

 Use of computerized skills inventories Referrals from other departments

For External Recruitment:

Organizations rely on-

 Advertisements

 Public or private placement agencies

 Field recruiting

 Including campus recruiting

Point of Recruitment:
There are two level of recruitment.

 Entry level

 Lateral entry (Recruitment of experienced person)

30
Entry level:

There are two entry-level post for recruiting fresh graduates and postgraduates. These are:

QUALITY ISSUES FOR INDIAN PRODUCTS IN INTERNATIONAL
MARKETS.

Geography and transportation

One of the first exporting challenges that you might have to deal with is the distance. If
you are planning to export your goods to a country that is far away from your location,
the process can get a bit complicated. Especially if the country is in a different continent
and therefore, a different system can be utilized. And the longer the distance gets, the
more complex transportation gets.

Payment methods

The payment method is very important when it comes to international trading. Some countries
might not share the same fiscal system with your country. And you will need help and assistance
when trading with such countries. There are also some international forms of payment that will
cover such situations, but they need to be present in both countries. There are several ways to
reach one of these payment methods, and with proper research, you should identify them. An
accountant will also help you make the best choice.

Different legal norms

When it comes to possible problems of exporting goods, the legal systems is an important one. It
also implies the safety system of a certain country that you want to trade with. You should stay
informed regarding government laws for goods safety, especially when you export foods. Some
regulations might delay the export-import process and create issues for both you and the local
importer. The most important problems of import and export come from a bad legal system in
one country or another

40
Language barriers

Language barriers can be a real issue when trading internationally. If your importer doesn’t
speak the same language things might be lost in the translation. The main trading language can
be used in English. However, many countries don’t have English as their national language, so
importers might use different translation programs to communicate with you. You can still make
a deal as long as you keep the language simple and as standard as possible. Hiring a translator
will save you from a lot of struggle when it comes to communication problems. And it is an
investment worth making because no one needs misunderstandings when there’s a lot of money
involved!

Understanding Porter's Five Forces
Porter's Five Forces is a business analysis model that helps to explain why various industries are
able to sustain different levels of profitability. The model was published in Michael E. Porter's
book, "Competitive Strategy: Techniques for Analyzing Industries and Competitors" in 1980.The
Five Forces model is widely used to analyze the industry structure of a company as well as its
corporate strategy. Porter identified five undeniable forces that play a part in shaping every
market and industry in the world. The five forces are frequently used to measure competition
intensity, attractiveness, and profitability of an industry or market.

Porter's five forces are:

1. Competition in the industry

2. Potential of new entrants into the industry

3. Power of suppliers

4. Power of customers

5. Threat of substitute products

Competition in the Industry

The first of the five forces refers to the number of competitors and their ability to undercut a
company. The larger the number of competitors, along with the number of equivalent products
and services they offer, the lesser the power of a company. Suppliers and buyers seek out a
company's competition if they are able to offer a better deal or lower prices. Conversely, when
competitive rivalry is low, a company has greater power to charge higher prices and set the terms
of deals to achieve higher sales and profits. Having good understanding of porters five force
model akash engineering understand competition in industry very well.

42
Potential of New Entrants Into an Industry

Firm knows that the entries for new competitors in this business is not so easy because of
high investment on machineries and trust worthy name of themselves in the market and
even providing best rate and good quality products to the consumers its very competitive
for new competitors to battle with old strategies.

Power of Suppliers
The next factor in the five forces model addresses how easily suppliers can drive
up the cost of inputs. To sort out these problems they buy raw material like steel
sheets and steel pipes directly from the main manufactures so that intermediate
dealers cannot short out their profit margin on daily basis.

Power of Customers
The ability that customers have to drive prices lower or their level of power is one
of the five forces. It is affected by how many buyers or customers a company
has, how significant each customer is, and how much it would cost a company to
find new customers or markets for its output. Their customer base is very large
and running at international level so they have different strategies for different
countries.

Threat of Substitutes
The last of the five forces focuses on substitutes. As per changing technologies
and easy to use machineries are in demands so that it is easy for competitors to
work in substitute products (which is not an easy task). Because they create
every product according to the customers need so that it’s easy for them to make
better substitutes and overcome the market.
