PRAXIS ANALYSIS PAPER 2

Praxis Analysis Paper

I must pass the Praxis Core Exam, to be fully accepted into my bachelor’s level program

at UNLV. The passing score for the Reading Praxis Core Exam is 156 in the state of Nevada. In

addition, the passing score for the Writing Praxis Core Exam is 162. Lastly, the passing score for

the Math Praxis Core Exam is a 150. All three Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators (Core)

exams must be passed to get licensure. You can take all three Core exams at once or take the

combined test where you do all three tests in one sitting. For each test, the fee is $90. The

combined test is $150. My goal is to be able to sit confidently for the combined test, instead of

having to take each of them one by one.

Exam Preparation

I was not well prepared for the Praxis Core Practice Exams. My results I obtained on the practice

exams show my preparation and readiness. I took a prolonged break from college because I was

unsure if I wanted to continue the path to being a Special Education Teacher. I now know that

this is exactly what I want to do and to reach that goal I must be more prepared and be willing to

put in that work. I need to start utilizing test prep resources, such as Khan Academy and practice

tests/videos, to be fully prepared. I am not confident with my test-taking ability now and I need

to take full advantages of the resources that are out there at my disposal. I am being fully

transparent with myself and know that I have to put in a lot more work in order to pass all three

exams.

Exam Results

My practice exam results were disappointing and made me realize how hard I need to study and

prepare for the actual Praxis Core Exams. I obtained a 41% on the Practice Praxis Core Reading

Exam (version 1), indicating that I need significant improvement. I got a 63% on the Practice

Praxis Core Writing Exam (version 1), indicating that I need slight improvement. I received a

31% on the Practice Praxis Core Math Exam (version 1), indicating that I need significant

improvement. This was a wake-up call for me and has motivated me to start utilizing study

resources and get prepared. I can only move forward from here.

Future Exam Preparation

To prepare for the Praxis Core Examinations, I will have to seek out resources that will

best help me succeed. Knowing the way I learn, I am a visual learner so I am going to look into

sources that I can read, like a test prep book. I enjoy working through online programs as well,

so I am going to stick to using the Teachers Test Prep website and getting more readily prepared.

I know a math teacher at a school working with children with special needs, who is more than

willing to tutor me, which is such a blessing. I am going to start working with her this month to

feel more confident about passing that specific section. There are so many resources available for

this extremely crucial exam. It is my job to utilize them and to take full advantage of the help

there. I have seen where I struggle and need to improve. I am ready to pass all three sections of

the Praxis Core Exam and do it with flying colors.
