K-Pos DP

FAMILIARISATION COURSE

DURATION: 3 days.

DESCRIPTION:
This course is intended for trained DP operators with experience from other DP systems who need a
familiarization to the K-Pos system. After completing this familiarization course the participant will have
acquired the necessary knowledge for operating a K-Pos system. The course will introduce the participants to the
K-Pos technology, train them on the K-POS Human-Machine Interface (HMI) and describe K-Pos solutions to
old and well-known functions. We assume that the participants have sufficient general know-ledge of dynamic
positioning.

AIM:
After completing this three days course with theoretical and practical training on the K-Pos DP, the participant
will have acquired general knowledge of:
Kongsberg Dynamic Positioning.
The K-Pos DP-system’s operation and use.
The K-Pos DP system’s functions and system reactions.
cJoy, the Independent joystick system
Further experience will have to be obtained through subsequent practical operations onboard the vessel.

FROM THE COURSE CONTENTS:

Basic DP theory.
Studies of the system configuration, operator panels, displays and controls and indicators.
System start-up.
The Operator manual.
Theoretical and practical operation.
DP operational modes and system functions.
The DP trainer.
Position reference systems and peripheral equipment with emphasis on:
Operation and use.
Functions.
Limitations.
The alarm and warning system with system messages.
