REVIEW ON CURRENT ISSUES

THE GOVERNMENT WILL TAKE ACTION AGAINST EMPLOYERS WHO

TOOK RECRUITMENT INCENTIVES WITHOUT EMPLOYING
Recently, there have been reports saying that there are employers who take the hiring incentives from the
Government but do not employ workers. On 19 May, the Minister of Human Resources had already emphasized that
the Government will not hesitate to take action against employers who did so.

Various incentives to businesses involve high allocations to address unemployment issues and help businesses
maintain their respective capacity in order for them to recover quickly and grow as global economy improve and we
achieve cluster immunity.

Dishonesty in seeking assistance without doing what is necessary to achieve the objectives of a policy will not be
taken lightly by the Government. Based on the investigation made, there are cases in relation to the misuse of
employees personal information and false claim made by employers when applying for financial incentives for the
PenjanaKerjaya Initiative, Recruitment Incentive Programme and Training Programme under the Penjana Career
2.0 Programme.

When applying for the Recruitment Incentive Programme and Training Programme conducted by SOCSO,
employers are advised to apply directly through official channels.

Job seekers are also reminded that there is no additional information through informal channels with any party for
data required for those who are not abused to benefit from Government programs provided to help the people.

THE GOVERNMENT WILL CONTINUE TO GO AFTER THOSE WHO

CAUSE LOSSES TO 1MDB AND SRC
The Government will not compromise in hunting down parties who have caused losses to 1 Malaysia Development
Berhad (1MDB) and SRC International Sdn Bhd in the course of carrying out their responsibilities, whether through
direct or indirect involvement in the various operations and transactions of 1MDB and SRC. Recently, about RM1.9
billion (USD452.363.867.40) was deposited into the Assets Recovery Trust Account by the United States Department
of Justice (DOJ). The money is part of 1MDB-related funds that have been seized.

This is an encouraging development as the current balance of the Trust Account is only enough to pay off the
principal and interest of 1MDB’s debt for 2021 and 2022. This balance does not include the total settlement
of RM2.83 billion to be received from the Ambank Group and RM336 million from Deloitte PLT. In addition,
negotiations are also underway with KPMG. Once all the Trust Account funds are used up, the Government will still

have to bear the obligation to pay the balance of 1MDB’s debts as the debts are supported by the Government
through Government Guarantee and Letter of Support when these debts are issued.
