Effect of Auditory Cues on Object’s Material Property

Perception
Research Advisor: Asst. Prof. Dr. Dicle Nahide Dövencioğlu –
Department of Psychology
Researcher: Ömer Faruk Yıldıran – BSc student of Psychology
Project Objectives
Pilot Study:

Figure [1]: Aspects of material softness in active

touch (Dövencioğlu et al., 2018) Figure [4]: Line plot of eigenvalues

Figure [3]: Graph of first three component

Figure [2]: Pilot experiment screen

Goals:
1.Investigate the influence of auditory cues on
material perception.
2.Explore the most evident dimensions of auditory
perceived material properties.
3.Investigate the way incongruent sounds manipulate
tactile perception.
