1. What are the elements of visual arts? Give a brief one sentence definition on each
element.

The Visual Elements are Line - Shape - Tone - Color -  Texture - Form.

Line is the foundation of all drawing. It is the first and most versatile of the visual
elements of art. Line in an artwork can be used in many different ways.

Shape can be natural or man-made, regular or irregular, flat (2-dimensional) or solid (3-


dimensional), representational or abstract, geometric or organic, transparent or opaque,
positive or negative, decorative or symbolic, colored, patterned or textured.

Tone is the lightness or darkness of a color. The tonal values of an artwork can be
adjusted to alter its expressive character.

Color is the visual element that has the strongest effect on our emotions. We use color
to create the mood or atmosphere of an artwork.

Texture is the surface quality of an artwork - the roughness or smoothness of the


material from which it is made.

Form is the physical volume of a shape and the space that it occupies.

2. How is shape/form used in establishing balance?

 Shapes or objects located toward the edge or corner of the composition have
greater visible weight and could offset visually heavy factors in the composition.
Foreground and heritage can stability every different. Items also can stability
every different alongside a diagonal axis, now no longer simply vertical or
horizontal.
3. How can the elements of arts help an artist in achieving balance in virtual arts?
