IMPROVING STUDENT'S ABILITY IN WRITING NARRATIVE TEXT BY


USING GOOGLE CLASSROOM IN A REMOTE AREA : CHALLENGES AND
PERSPECTION.

(CASE STUDY CONDUCTED AT SECOND GRADE IN SMA PGRI GARUT)

Proposed Title

A. The title of the study will be ” USING GOOGLE CLASSROOM TO


IMPROVE STUDENT'S NARRATIVE TEXT WRITING SKILL TO HIGH
SCHOOL STUDENTS AT A REMOTE AREA IN GARUT: TEACHER'S
CHALLENGES AND STUDENTS' PERSPECTIVES BACKGROUND.

B. INTRODUCTION

a Background of the Study

2 The whole world is currently experiencing a very dangerous phenomenon.


namely the emergence of a deadly virus called covid-19. So that many
countries have implemented the Lockdown system. Lockdown itself is a ban
on holding meetings that involve large numbers of people, closing schools and
universities, to public places. This effort was made to reduce the risk of
transmitting the corona virus to people outside the lockdown area. This virus
was first discovered in the Wuhan market, China. which eventually spread
rapidly throughout the world, including Indonesia.
3 As a result of the impact of the Corona Virus, the world of education is also
affected. So that the government, in this case the Minister of Education and
Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, has recommended the implementation of
distance education (online), with the aim of preventing the spread of Covid-
19.
4 one of the media used for online learning in every school is Google
Classroom,including in SMAN PGRI Malangbong-Garut. According to the
CALL (Computer Assessment Language Learning) course, researchers will
apply e-learning to increase student interest in learning English, especially in
writing skills. According to Hammi (2017: 27) in his thesis, the use of Google
Classroom is very effective because quick access can be used anywhere and
anytime by installing the Google Classroom application through the Play
Store. In this study, the researcher focused on how to improve students'
narrative text writing skills using Google Classroom media.
5 Riska (11/2020) Distance learning using online learning applications is less
effective due to network connection problems, students are sometimes late
online and students misunderstand what the lecturer has ordered. When
students often use online learning applications via cellphones and laptops, it is
not good for their eye health. This can cause students to use glasses to read
and see people.
6 From the many previous studies, none has discussed the use of google
classrooms for remote areas. And for some students, especially those in areas
with difficulty getting a good signal, not all students have cell phones, even
students who have cellphones who rarely open the google classroom
application. .
7 and for teachers this is a challenge because they must anticipate effective
learning for students through an online internet system.The provisional
conclusion is that the use of Google Classroom is less effective and it takes a
long time for teachers to visit individual students.
8 However, online learning (online) especially learning narrative text writing
skills using google classroom cannot be implemented properly because of the
many obstacles experienced by each region, especially remote areas. the
obstacles are as follows:
9 -internet signal / network is not good
10 As we know that, internet distribution in Indonesia is not evenly distributed,
where in urban areas it is more dominant than in rural areas. therefore, many
remote or rural areas struggle with online learning. Because the internet
network is difficult to reach, as a result, online learning such as video calls
cannot be done optimally.
11 -Students / teachers who do not understand use technology
12 Cluelessness (stuttering technology) is a problem experienced by people in
rural areas, the main reason is because of the backwardness of information and
knowledge about current digital technology.
13 -Students who do not have cellphones due to economic limitations.
14 In this day and age, it seems that cellphones are an item that must be needed
by everyone to access all information in the world and can connect one person
to another. However, what about the people who can't afford it? With the
emergence of Covid-19, they can't help but have to take part in online
learning, they must be very difficult to adjust.
15 The solution is students who do not have cellphones can go to friends who are
close to home and have cellphones. or you can go directly to the teacher's
house, provided that you still wear a mask and comply with the PSBB
regulations.
16 -Lack of adequate facilities in the online learning process.
17 Lack of facilities is also an obstacle to the success of online learning. so that
many prefer the WA group as a learning medium.
18 the way of learning is quite easy, namely providing subject matter, additional
assignments and practice questions
19 in the Whatsapp group of each class, which can be accessed by students on
their cellphones / laptops.
20 Based on the background above, in this case, based on the command to raise
the problem, the researchers investigated the use of google classroom in the
writing class and interpreted the perceptions of SMAN PGRI students living
in remote areas about the use of google classroom to improve student skills in
learning narrative text. Researchers also examined how teachers deal with
problems using google classrooms to improve student skills in remote areas.

ATURAN PENULISAN PROPOSAL PENELITIAN


Proposal penelitian skripsi harus ditulis dengan aturan sebagai berikut.
1. Ditulis di kertas A4 ukuran 70 gram, huruf Times New Roman dengan
font 12.
2. Margin sisi kiri 4 cm, sisi kanan 3 cm, atas 4 cm, dan bawah 3 cm.
3. Spasi dalam penulisan proposal adalah 2.
4. Nomor halaman diletakkan di sudut kanan atas
5. Proposal dijilid dengan plastik mika warna biru muda.
6. Huruf dalam cover menggunakan Times New Roman (Bold) dengan font
12, kecuali judul dan nama penyusun dengan font 14.
7. Spasi dalam cover adalah 1.
