To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow.

– Audrey Hepburn
Plants bring natural beauty to our living spaces. By creating texture and balance, a
room or patio can be transformed into an environment that comforts and
welcomes. But, , plants can do more than look pretty. They’ve been proven to
reduce stress so well that one glance at a plant lowers your heart rate. They also
help clean the air we breathe by absorbing toxins and acting as little oxygen
factories. Plants simply make us feel better.
By easing mental fatigue and improving air quality plants manage to find
themselves an indispensable part of your home life.
Keeping this theme in mind students showed great creativity and beautifully
decorated their spaces .They used innovative ways to decorate with biodegradable
materials and bring their spaces to life .They emphasised that our very basic
needs are food, cloth and shelter and it is quite true that these three basic
needs cannot be fulfilled without plants. Also plants are a great source of medicine
even for life-threatening diseases. Also, plant medicine is safer due to their lower chances of side
effects and also better compatibility to humans. Medicines derived from plants include
vincristine, digitalis, colchicine, reserpine, quinine, morphine, taxol and aspirin.

Besides instantly boosting a home’s aesthetic, being surrounded by greenery can

help with cleaning the surrounding air, creating a sense of well-being, and
enhancing our life.As beautifully put by the students for a reminder to break
toxic ties, plant aloe vera. For a reminder to relax and stay calm,
plant lavender. For a reminder to survive and thrive during hard times,
try a snake plant. For a reminder to stay present, try a eucalyptus and
caring for your plants is essentially a reminder to care for yourself
Some students shared how plants are also the source of insecticides and pesticides. Artificial
pesticides are harmful to the environment. They may even enter food causing health issue to
human and animals. Using these naturally derived pesticides are safe. They degrade with time
and even do not harm the soil. Ex: Pyrethrin (as Mosquito repellant), Neem, bacteria etc
They discussed the importance of plants and how they are becoming ever more
important in our life. How plants can bring happiness and satisfaction in our lífe
and develop skills like patience and perseverance in students life.

I guess we’re finally learning what our ancestors have known for centuries, plants are more
than just ornaments. At some level, we are deeply connected to them. So much so, that simply
cohabitating with them brings us health and repose.
