Matter - Any substance that has mass and occupies space by having volume is called
matter. All everyday objects that can be touched are ultimately composed of atoms, which
are made up of interacting subatomic particles, and in everyday as well as scientific usage,
"matter" generally includes atoms and anything made up of them, and any particles
or combination of particles. Matter exists in various states. These include solid, liquid,
and gas. Solid substance has both a definite shape and a definite volume. Liquid substance
has a definite volume but no definite shape. Gas has neither definite shape nor definite
volume.
