The Capitol Arts Alliance
recognizes March as Youth Month.
The Capitol Arts Alliance is a non-
profit corporation dedicated to
supporting the arts for the citizens of
south central Kentucky. The mission
of the Capitol Arts Alliance is to
enrich the quality of life in our region
through arts experiences as a
presenter, an arts educator, and a
leader.
The house was packed Sunday as I
attended the reception recognizing
students from the Bowling Green/
Warren County area. Over 10,000
students K-6 competed in the yearly
art competition. I was proud to be
there with my granddaughter, Ava
Johnson, one of nine students chosen
from McNeill Elementary. The
Awards are an important opportunity
for students to be recognized for their
creative talents.
Teens in grades 7 through 12 can
apply in categories of art for the
chance to earn scholarships and have
their works exhibited or published.
The Regional Scholastic Arts
Exhibition, which was sponsored by
the Bowling Green Kiwanis Club,
featured 28 Gold Key awards which
were entered into the National
Scholastic Art Awards competition.
Four of the regional entries earned
national awards. Those four are:
