Schedule
• Friday night is comedy night on Channel 4. This is traditionally the time
that new comedy is aired;
• Scheduled post-watershed because of the adult themes and alternative
humour that is not suitable for young children
• Scheduled in a late evening slot, which is a traditional time for cutting
edge comedy on Channel 4, and appeals to their niche audience
• Scheduled against news and drama, but also against another comedy
on BBC2, however it is a completely different genre of comedy and so
wouldn’t pose too much of a threat to their audience.
BBC One: 10 o’clock News
BBC Two: Comedy – Fast and Loose
ITV1: 10 o’clock News
C5: Law & Order (drama)
• Scheduled between popular programmes: Embarrassing Bodies, and
Rude Tube, who are likely to attract the same audience

Audience
• Scheduled on Channel 4 which is a niche audience – it is aimed at an
audience of approximately 16-40 year olds.
• The programme stars comedy actors who are well known for other
Channel 4 comedy work and so will bring with them an inherited
audience

• The characters and situations in FND, two sons coming round for dinner
with their parents on a Friday evening (Jewish Sabbath) is a situation
that a lot of young people could relate to – same embarrassments,
irritations etc
• Positioned in the schedule to appeal to a younger audience to

• Witty sophistication of the style of comedy;
• Comedy mocking Jewish religion – breaking taboos and boundaries –
which follows their vision and brand;
