This chapter details how to install the unit, including receiving, levelling, connecting services,
setup and commissioning.
Some procedures described this chapter may refer to controls on the Human Machine Interface
(HMI).
All bolts, screws, fittings and other hardware should be torqued in accordance with the
standard values listed in section 3, unless specified otherwise.
The special shipping bolts or wooden braces between the platens must not be removed until
the levelling mounts have been installed.
The tie wraps that fasten the operator’s and non-operator’s gates must not be removed.
Removing the tie wraps from the gates will cause the gates to move freely during installation.

Bases - Connection and Alignment

Proceed as follows to align the clamp and injection bases:

1. Ensure that the purge guard is in the fully open position.

1
2. Move the clamp unit towards the injection unit. Align the mounting pads with the
flanges.
3. Lower the clamp unit. Ensure that the mounting pads are fully seated against the
flange.
4. Using screws and washers, secure the mounting pads to the flanges.
5. Measure the gap between the clamp and injection bases on the operator and non-
operator sides of the machine at the top and bottom of the interface bar, using a feeler gauge.

If the gap is not equal:

• Tighten the screws that secure the injection base to the clamp base
• Using a suitable overhead crane and lifting slings, lift the clamp at the stationary platen
end
• Lower the machine and loosen the screws

The difference between the operator and non operator side (top and bottom of interface bar)
should not be greater than 0.05 mm.
Machine misalignment may result from failure to ensure the gaps are equal.
Raise the stationary platen end of the clamp unit slightly to relieve any stress on the mounting
pads.
Lower the clamp unit to the floor. Remove lifting slings.

Hydraulic Hoses - Connection

To connect the hydraulic hoses between the clamp and injection units:

1. Connect the return line to the flanged connection on the hydraulic tank.
2. Connect the pressure line and pilot line to the bulkhead in the power pack.
Connect the manifold drain line to the port on the hydraulic tank
