Procedures
 Take a Cold Work Permit from Asset Owner.

 Ensure test bottle (containing H2S Gas of 10 ppm

concentration) & accessories are free from defect & not
Defective Tool & Equipment leaking.
 Refer manufacturer instruction for refilling of test gas bottle.
Planning
 Assess the risk & Override the H2S detector to be function
Unintended Shutdown of Facility / tested.
Equipment
 Do not remove override prior to resetting the alarm in the
panel.

 Maintain a radio communication between worker at Gas

Lack of Communication Detector site and the person stationed near F & G panel /
Control Room.

Wrong Identity of Gas Detector  Ensure the identity of detector before charging the gas into it.

 Apply only the required amount of gas as needed to actuate

Excessive Charging of H2S to the detector sensor.
Detector  Refer manufactures instruction for functional testing &
calibration of detector.

Toxic Gas Leak  Keep the Test Bottle valve closed when not in use.

Functional Testing  Do not bring any naked flame or spark generating equipment
Fire & Explosion near the test gas bottle.
 Do not dismantle or puncture the test gas bottle even if empty.

 Confirm the alarm on gas charging through radio

 Keep the test bottle in safe and secured location.
