You have been having a class discussion on eliminating Friday classes and implementing a 4-day
school week for high school and university students. You have made the notes below.

Reasons for switching to a 4-day school week:

• reducing costs
• attracting people to the teaching profession
• more time for other interests

Some opinions expressed in the discussion:

“Just think of all the money we could save on building

maintenance and transportation, to name just two.”

“Teacher turnover rate would drop drastically if they could

add an extra day onto their weekends.”

“Quality of life would increase with the opportunity to seek

out other passions in life.”

Now, write an essay for your teacher discussing 2 of the reasons in your notes. You should explain
which of the reasons for putting into effect a 4-day school week is the most decisive. Provide
reasons and examples to support your opinion.
