5. RESPONSIBILITIES
5.1. Project Engineer
1. To ensure that all the preparation and application works are carried out according to the Contract
Specification.
2. To ensure that the progressing of works is carried out according to the planned program and as per
the approved Method Statement.
3. To ensure that all the equipment’s and materials required executing the work are available according
to the planned construction program.
4. To coordinate with the Main Contractor MEP Coordinator & Safety Officer for a safe and proper
execution of the works.

5.2. Site Engineer


1. To ensure that the works are carried out according to the Contract Specifications and approved
Method Statement.
2. To provide all necessary information and distribute responsibilities to his construction team.
3. To monitor the progress of work in relation with the work program and report to the Project Engineer.
4. To coordinate with the Safety Officer and to ensure that the works are carried out in safe practicing
methods.

5.3. Foreman
1. The foreman will carry out his duties by maintaining continuous coordination with the Site Engineer on
daily basis and ensure proper distribution of the workforce in the required and planned locations.
2. To ensure that his assistant foreman/ charge hand are aware of the job requirements and they have
enough information to carry out their duties properly.
3. To ensure in consultation with the Site Engineer that the manpower involved in the works are moving
as agreed and planned for the work.
4. To ensure that the daily work is progressing as planned and advice the Site Engineer of any
requirement for additional resources.
5. To control disposal of waste materials according to the instructions received from the site Engineer.
6. To ensure full coordination with the Safety Officer to maintain safe working and proper housekeeping
of the site, following the approved safety measures and further ensures that all his working team are
aware of the same to prevent accident and losses.
7. To inform the Site Engineer of the areas ready for inspection.

6. EQUIPMENTS/ TOOLS / MANPOWER/MATERIALS


6.1. EQUIPMENT
The equipment’s that will be engaged for the installation of system works shall be as follows:
1. Screw driver set
2. Cutting Pliers
3. Soldering Iron
4. Label Printer
5. Insulation tape

6.2. MATERIAL
Materials used will be as approved by the engineer and installation & routing will be as per the
approved shop drawings.
7. INSTALLATION
Adhere to drawings as closely as possible. The right is reserved to vary the runs and sizes of conduits &
Trays and to make offsets but maintain as far as possible the free area of each section, where necessary to
accommodate conditions arising at the building.
The installation will be carried out according to the approved shop drawings, site requirement and the
Engineer’s instruction at site and comply with local authorities.

7.1. Installation of cables and Tap–off units


1. All cables shall be installed in conduit and/or Tray
2. All cable junctions and taps shall be accessible.
3. Cables shall be installed and fastened without causing sharp bends or rubbing of the cables against
sharp edges and must be fastened with hardware which will not damage or distort them.
4. Tap-off units are to be provided as per approved shop drawings.
5. RG 6 Coaxial cables shall be provided between TV outlet and Tap-off units.
6. RG 11 Coaxial cables shall be provided between Tap-off units and Distribution Amplifiers in MTR.
7. Cables and Tap off unit shall be labelled at the equipment terminals

7.2. Power provision


8. Power for all Fiber Optic Receivers shall be provided on a dedicated circuit, being connected to the
UPS unit in the MTR room.

7.3. Installation of TV+SAT-IF OPTICAL RECEIVER (FRD-350)


1. FRD-250 is suitable for indoor application only. Use two Q4.2x32 screws to fix the housing to the wall
through the two holders at the top and bottom.
2. The optical connection is made using a single mode fibre optic cable of 3mm with SC/APC8 connector:
3. Remove the protective cover from the optical head of the receiver, as well as protection cap from the
connector on the single fibre cable.
4. Plug the connector into the head, making sure that the ledge on the connector meets the slot on the
head. Press home.

7.4. Installation of CATV EXTENDER AMPLIFIERS


1. Use four Ф4.2 x32 screws for the wall-fixing through the holders of the housing.
2. Connect the input and output RF coaxial lines to the amplifier

7.5. Installation of VHF/UHF TV MODULATOR


1. Remove cover.
2. Screw the modulator to the wall.
3. Put the plastic cover on.

7.6. Installation of Equipment Rack IN EQUIPMENT ROOM/3BG


1. All EQM, CGT and Fiber optic Transmitter are installed in a metal rack complete with glass doors with
hinged doors and locks so as to be accessible for maintenance without interference to other nearby
equipment.
2. The location of the rack will provide for adequate installation space for correct mounting of
components and associated hardware, and will observe clearances for connecting cables and
installation tools.

7.7. Installation of Equipment Rack IN EQUIPMENT ROOM/1C


1. All EAM, MAO and Fiber optic splitters are installed in a metal rack complete with glass doors with
hinged doors and locks so as to be accessible for maintenance without interference to other nearby
equipment.
2. The location of the rack will provide for adequate installation space for correct mounting of
components and associated hardware, and will observe clearances for connecting cables and
installation tools.
7.8. Testing and Commissioning
Refer to Method statement for Testing and commissioning of MATV.

7.9. Documentation
1. Prepare As Built Drawings
2. Prepare Operation & Maintenance Manual
3. Prepare Commissioning Report.

7.10. Handing Over


Training shall be provided to the client representatives on the system operation and troubleshooting.

8. HEALTH, SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT


1. All statutory and site safety regulations shall be adhered to. Access to areas and equipment under test
shall be restricted to authorized personnel only.
