Understandings
• Cooperating school refers to the public or private elementary / high school where the
teaching intern undergoes off campus teaching under a cooperating teacher who
assists him/her on his/her teaching stint.
• The cooperating school serves as a training ground or laboratory of teaching. The
prospective teacher gets the “feel” of the school and the “feel” of being a “real”
teacher.
• A teacher training program greatly depends on how well the internship program is
carried out in the cooperating schools.
The characteristics of cooperating school that nurture and inspire teacher participation:
friendly atmosphere where the learners and other members of the community live in
love, care, and understanding
safe and secure environment where the learners and other members of the community
are free from hazards, accidents, and other calamities.
A clear vision and a common mission identify the learning to be aligned and achieved to
help the school, its staff, and students on target.
• Mission statements are the how to “statements” or action plans that help the school
achieve its vision. They prompt change and growth.
– Peterson, 1995
• Core Values are the fundamental beliefs of a person, school, or organization. These
guiding principles dictate behavior and help people to understand right or wrong.
These create an unwavering guide to determine if they are on the right path in
fulfilling their goals.

I can concretize the school’s VMG by looking at every single activity (sports trips, extra
curricular, hall policies, homework policies, teacher requirement, everything) and see if each one
reflects the mission. If not make changes. An outsider should be able to look at any aspect of the
school and see that the mission is being carried out there. When a school goes through
accreditation, this is one thing that is looked at committees help when your gathering all this
information.

My Reflections / My Insights
A. Check only one and explain.
I am ready for the teaching profession.
I still need to overcome my apprehensions.
because
I still need to overcome my apprehensions because apprehension is one of the
reason why one never achieve his or her goals. Yes I am ready for teaching profession but
I should overcome my apprehensions first to boost my confidence and self-esteem, I
believe that these are the fundamentals of teaching. Fears would never hinder me to attain
such goals. I need also to have some review about some vital content about my
specialization since we already hang the academic practice for about a year. Some
essential information might forgotten.
Prepare simple drills and activities so that the students will not get bored.

C. To fully equip myself to better understand my cooperating teacher, I need to know
her/his personal characteristics. Choose any three (3) significant characteristics and
why you need to do to emulate these virtues.
