Amidst the busy academic life at IIM Kozhikode, fun is
an element that one keeps craving for. To satiate this
thirst for fun, Cultural Committee or CULCOM, as it
is more popularly known on campus, proves to be a
messiah of sorts. Be it the celebrations of various
festivals or the cultural extravaganza of Echoes, the
much-awaited cultural fest of IIM Kozhikode, CULCOM
ensures that the
case studies and quizzes don’t get to gobble up the
crazy part of you.
Section Wars is one such event which invokes you to

mark the beginning of your awesome two years at
Kampus. The time to showcase almost any kind of
talent and try your hand at a variety of things like
singing, dancing, walking the ramp, quizzing, orating,
acting (and whatnot?) is here.
The onus of defending your section name is on

your shoulders. You either live for your section
or you die fighting for it!
The event details and the rules for them are explained
in
the following pages.
In case of any clarification, feel free to contact any of
the committee members.

of us”, only this time, he was much more convincing than the other
times and much truer.

Event Rules
• Only one team per section. No bar on the team strength
• Videos to be recorded and clubbed together to make a final video for
each section
• Maximum time limit is 12 minutes
• Parameters of evaluation are:
▪ Theme – each team will have to convey their theme beforehand
to the POCs.
▪ Costumes & Dresses.
▪ Creativity & Innovation.
• Music to be played in background while video is recorded or can be
attached to the video in final editing
• A total of 15 marks will be given to the section with the best crowd
participation virtually at the discretion of cultural committee
• Submission link and deadlines will be informed
• The videos will be uploaded on the cultural committee social media
handles, and brownie points will be allotted depending on likes,
comments and shares of the post on official culcom pages

Event Rules
• Each section would be allocated a total of 5 minutes time for sledging
with no limit on the number of people who participate
• The submission would be in the form of a video

▪ Content and transitions within the video
• Slots will also be provided between the showcase of performances
for sledging
• Winner will be announced on the final day

tolerated and would entail punitive action

Event Rules
• The competition will be knockout matches between sections and
there will be 3 rounds.
• One person will represent the entire section in the battle
• The battle will be between two sections at a time. Sections for a
battle will be selected randomly.
• 2 minutes will be given to the participants of each section to perform
• The order of performance in the battle will be decided through
random function of excel or any other alternative
• Event will be Live and schedule will be informed
• Total of 8 Rap Battles between sections will be there in the knockouts

The Section Canvas
You are nothing special unless you can present yourself and what you stand
for. The way you present your section and its theme is an integral part of
Section Wars and bringing this to the fore is rewarded.

Event Rules
• Each section has to decide a theme and design a concept around it,
complete et al with section T-shirt design, Section slogan, logo, mascot,
Posters/Flexes, etc.
• • Sections can either draw/paint on a single A3 canvas or can make it
digitally
• No bar on the extent of creativity

MEME War
Put your thinking caps on get ready to find the most innovative ways to mock
other sections in public through our ever so favourite memes. The harder you
tickle the funny bone of the audience, the easier you win the event!
Points Allocated 1st Place-50, 2nd place-30, 3rd place- 20
Event Rules
• The competition will be held on Instagram Handle of the Cultural
Committee (@culcom.iimk) in the form of story/status uploads.
• Each round will take place for a period of 12 hours i.e. noon 12 pm to
midnight 11:59 pm. The link for submission of entries will be closed 1
hour prior to the upload time.
• The winner will be decided on the basis of the number of votes received
on the story. The decision will be at the discretion of the Cultural
Committee.
• There would be 2 rounds: 1v1 round and Royal Rumble
• 1v1 Round: There would be 5 groups based on random pickings. Each
group will have 2 sections each. The memes will be pitted against each
other via Instagram, and the winner advances to the final round.
• Royal Rumble: It’s showdown time. The top 5 sections will compete for
the title of Meme Lord. Each section will have to compete with the other 4
sections at the same time, by submitting 1 meme each against the other
finalists. Then the memes of each section are pitted against each other,
and cumulative votes of each section would be considered for the final
evaluation.

Khadi Bakchodi
We define EOI (Entertainment on Investment) as the ratio of entertainment

provided by the number of people involved in the act. Now, Stand-up is one
such act which allows you to have a healthy figure of EOI.
So, if you feel that you have the stamina to pump up an extravagant
audience, it’s time to get your “timing right”.

• Maximum of 2 entries per section (solo, duo or group)
• Maximum time limit is 3 minutes per entry
• Mimicry, jokes, special art/talent, mono-act, shayari, magic tricks or any
other activity that can entertain the crowd

Have you ever been to any live concert? Have you ever enjoyed the aura
created by any famous singer like Freddie just by his voice? Do you also
aspire to perform and create such an aura? If yes then get ready for an
opportunity to prove yourself and be the new singing sensation of the IIMK
community.
Points allocated 1st Place – 50, 2nd Place -30, 3rd Place- 20
Event Rules
• Maximum 2 participants per section
• Participants can use an instrument of their choice to accompany the song
(should play the instrument himself/herself)
• Karaoke if used should be arranged by the participant
• The maximum time limit of the performance will be 5 minutes each

Six String Showdown Instrumental Solo
Jordan Rudess, the famous lead keyboardist of Dream Theater, Eric Clapton
who is known for creating such mesmerizing music by just swinging their
fingers on six strings or for that matter who cannot dance to the sounds and
energy liberated from Chad Smith’s drums. When these artists play any
instrument then make sure that the audience is only dancing to the music
coming from their instrument
If you can be that energy boosters for your audience through an instrument,
this is the platform to showcase that talent of yours. Plug in and riff us apart!

Vi-REEL
Your time starts now! But there is no stage and audience. We open the
world to you an infinite crowd.
Event Rules
• Create an interesting instagram reel challenge
• Make an instagram reel and tag 3 of your section mates. They have to
continue the challenge and make instagram reels while tagging 3 others
and it will continue like this.
• Be fresh and creative with your challenges. Inculcate your section name,
theme or essence as per your intuition. Subtle digs (no abbusiveness or
vulgarness should be displayed) at other sections are most welcome,
but remember you are showcasing your work on a social platform!
• Mention your Section Name, tag 3 people from your section, tag Cultural
committee Instagram handle in every Reel.
• Reel from each section will be uploaded on the cultural committee social
media handles.
• Ultimate winners will be decided on the creativity of the challenge,
number of participats from each section as well as from the total likes,
shares and comments drawn at the end of the final day on the official
handles.

Shoot Your Shot
Event Category Bronze

Event Rules
• The competition will be held on Instagram Handle of the Cultural
Committee (@culcom.iimk) in the form of story/status uploads.
• Each round will take place for a period of 12 hours i.e. noon 12 pm to
midnight 11:59 pm. The link for submission of entries will be closed 1
hour prior to the upload time
• The winner will be decided on the basis of the number of votes received
on the story. In case of a tie, the decision of the qualifier will be at the
discretion of the Cultural Committee.
• In the first round, each section needs to upload 2 pickup lines from a
guy’s and a girl’s perspective.
• Kavyanjali : This round will see 6 qualifiers in 3 groups of two uploading
a video of a short poem narrated by each section on a given topic. The
narration of the poem should be done by section mate(s), however,
creativity of the video is upto the discretion of the finalists.
• Alfaaz-e-Shayari : This final round will have the three finalists battling
against the other two finalists for a final showdown (Eg: Section A will
have to post 2 shayaris, one with Section B and one with Section C).
Every group will be provided a different topic on which they will have to
upload a shayari.
• The theme/topic of the last two rounds will be communicated well in
advance of the commencement of the last two rounds.

The Lens

Event Rules
• Every day a theme will be given during the course of section wars
• One Photo/Theme/section should be submitted
• If edited the original should also be sent
• The deadline for submission will be informed
• The entries should be mailed to culcom@iimk.ac.in with subject “Section
Name Theme”
• The format for submission should be photographs with the name
“Section_Name_Theme_Day” (ex Ekaksh_Reflections_Day1) and should
have a caption in the body of the mail.

▪ Relevance to the theme
• The photos will be uploaded on social media platforms of the cultural
committee, and extra brownie points will be allotted depending on the likes,
comments and shares on the official page
NOTE-EXIF data should be intact, and no stocked photos should be used,
any discrepancies will lead to immediate disqualification from the event

If all the world’s a stage, then all the world’s an audience too!
Upload candid pictures or selfies or bloopers from videos or zoom planning

meeting screenshots or anything interesting every day during Section Wars
on Facebook and Instagram by tagging the cultural committee.
Apart from your own hashtags, do not forget to use the following two
hashtags: #<Section_name> e.g. #Hunkaar (in 2019)

The best photos from each section shall be reposted and shared on the
official Culcom IIMK Instagram and Facebook handles.

Les Quizerables General Quiz
You don’t need to gulp down Knowledge potions to be there, the only
things you need to come up will be a pen and Lisbeth Salander’s mantra
that “There are not so many questions that cannot be countered with a
decent guess.” Don’t let this great power of yours rust out, do Kwiz!
Points allocated 1st Place- 30, 2nd Place – 20, 3rd Place- 10
Event Rules
• Maximum of 2 teams from each section
• Team size of 3
• Prelims would be conducted on Kahoot
• Top 8 teams would qualify for the finals, no cap on the maximum or
minimum number of teams from each section
• Finals would consist of an interactive session, with the quiz master
deciding upon the rules
• The rules for the finals would be told as and when the quiz takes place

just your style but your personality as well. Fashion is art and you are the
canvas.

Event Rules
• Two participants from each section (1 male, 1 female)
• First round - Showcase your talent - Video submissions (time limit is 3
minutes). The video should showcase both the participants talents
(Karate, dance, singing, art, etc.) The videos from each section will be
uploaded on the cultural committee social media handles.
• Second round- Rapid Fire Round
• Second round shall take place online over zoom platform.
• All the participants must remain on call during the event.
▪ First round- Talent, number of Likes, comments and shares
▪ Second round – Confidence, quirkiness, spontaneity and creativity
