contestants will each win a scholarship, and everyone else will get an
honorable mention. In how many different ways can 3 winners be chosen?

2. In a 10-item Mathematics problem-solving test, how many ways can you


select 5 problems to solve?

3. Suppose you are the owner of a sari-sari store and you want to put 10 pieces
of canned goods in a row on the shelf. If there are 3 identical cans of meat
loaf, 2 identical cans of 555 tuna caldereta, 3 identical cans of sardines, and
2 identical cans of corned beef, in how many different ways can you display
these goods?

4. Juana, Maria, Susan, Anna and Petra want to take a group picture. In how
many ways can they arrange themselves in a row for picture taking?

5. Grade 10-Jade students went to watch a play at school auditorium. Seating 8


students in 8 seats in the front row of school auditorium.

B. Direction: Formulate your own example of permutation and combination


problems/situations/scenarios. Make at least 2 permutations and 2 combinations.

NOTE: This problem set is 50% 0f your grade. Everybody should try their
best to answer the problems. It will only be submitted on the 4th
week(MODULE) of this quarter, so you have enough time to answer. All
solutions should be written on this paper.
