    DESIGN OF SEPTIC TANK: STAFF HOUSE

    Type of Occupancy = RESIDENTIAL


    Quantity of Sewage = 75gallons/ per person

    Assumed number of persons to be served:


    Persons per room = 2 persons
    Number of rooms = 30 rooms

    Therefore,
    60 persons

    Q= 75 gal. X 60 persons
    Q= 4500 gal.
    FORMULA:
    V= 1.125+0.75Q
    where V = Liquid volume of the tank in gallons
    Q = The daily sewage flow in gallons per day.
    1.125 and 0.75 are constant values.
    V= 1.125 X 0.75 4500
    V = 3376.125 cu.m.

    CONVERSION:
    V = 3376.13 X cu meter/ 264 gal
    V = 12.788352 cu.m.

    For the dimensions of the septic tank,


    assumed depth 2.5 meters
    assumed width 3 meters

    LENGTH OF DIGESTION CHAMBER:

    L= V/ 3X 2.5

    L= 1.70511 meters
    say= 1.75 meters

    TOTAL LENGTH OF SEPTIC TANK:

    TL= L/2+L

    TL= 2.625 meters

    NOTE: IF 2-leaching chamber required by local municipalities

    air space minimum requirement= 0.30 meters
