2.0 Pre-requisites.

2.1 The following pre-requisites must be in place before work can start.

• Suitable access to all Valves, Strainers and etc.

• Provide scaffolding and Mobil Lifting Platforms where necessary.
• Power supply available and constant.

3.0 Health & Safety.

The execution of works will strictly follow the project safety manual.

4.0 Risk Assessment & Hazard Analysis.

Risk assessment form is enclosed.

5.0 Equipment Required.

5.1 Any instrument that requires calibration must have a valid calibration certificate.
And be logged on the Instrument Log Sheet with a copy of the calibration
certificate.

The following test instrumentation & tools will be required to undertake the tests
detailed within this procedure:

• Pressure Gauges*
• Clamp-on Ammeter *
• Hand Tools ( screwdrivers etc)

(* Instruments requiring a calibration certificate)T

6.0 Reference Standards.

6.1 The following standards have been referenced when preparing these test
procedures:

• CIBSE Commissioning Code W – 1994 – Water Distribution Systems.

• BSRIA Commissioning of Water Systems in Buildings – AG2/89.

These standards should be adhered to throughout the testing and commissioning

process.

7.0 Commissioning & Testing Procedures.

Pre-Commissioning.

Carry out the following prior to starting any testing

7.1 All the pre-commissioning checks should be carried out as per the
Approved pro-forma checklist and all case strictly in line with the manufacturer’s
recommendations.

7.2 Confirm all valves correctly installed and should be made fully open or as
planned for testing (where applicable).

7.3 Confirm discharge pipe-work has been hydrostatically tested and that there is no
evidence of leakage at joints or valves.

7.4 Confirm that the pump is completely submerged and has been vented of all air.

7.5 All electrical connections to equipment should be completed and water tight.

Dewatering & Foul pumps Commissioning- Method Statement
The entire water system must be fully operational. All inspections performed as described
In pre-commissioning checks, set the system for testing in the following manner.

7.6 Note the pumps model and serial number, motor nameplate, the design L/s flow,
and the design head. (If the pump is accessible)

7.7 Verify the impeller size on each pump. By referring to the pump name plate.

7.8 Note the starter data and motor overload protection devices size and ratings.

7.9 Ensure that the discharge pipe-work is free from any blockages or obstructions.

7.10 When this is complete carry out the pump hydronic measurement test.

7.11 Open the pump discharge valve to its full-open position (if applicable.)

7.12 Turn the pump on firstly at the control panel then the local isolator.

7.13 Check that there is a good discharge flow from the pump.

7.14 Record pumps motor amps and voltage in the test sheet.
7.15 Ensure high & low level switches/ floats are operating correctly.

8.0 Witnessing
8.1 Dewatering & Foul pump has been commissioned, and all the relevant paper work
completed. It must be offered to the Commissioning Manager. He/she will organise
a time and date with all relevant parties to witness the system. After the system has
been witnessed the witnessing team or individual will decide to sign off the system
or not depending on the success of the witness.

Note: It is up to the witnessing team’s discretion as to what percentage of the system is

to be witnessed.
