USAGE RESTRICTIONS
Recommendations for use :
• Handle the product with care - do not drop it or subject it to strong impacts.
• Do not dismantle the watch. This would void the warranty and could cause
damage and loss of waterproofing.
• Do not subject the watch to extreme temperatures. If the watch is exposed
to the sun for too long, the display may darken temporarily, before returning
to normal when it has cooled down.
• Only clean the watch using a soft damp cloth. Do not use detergents, as
these may damage the watch equipment. Only the elastic part of the strap
may be machine washed (30°).
Waterproof design :
This watch is waterproof to 5 ATM. It can therefore be used in wet conditions,
in heavy rain, in the shower or when swimming. However, you must not dive
when wearing it, or swim to depths greater than 5m. Do not press the buttons
under water.
The chest strap is only “water resistant”. This means it is impermeable to
sweat and can be worn in the rain and under wet clothing, but should not be
worn in the shower or when swimming.
Warning !
This product is designed for sports and leisure activities. It is not a medical
device. The information given by the device or in this booklet is merely for
information purposes and must only be used to monitor medical progress
after consultation with and the agreement of your doctor.
Likewise, healthy athletes should bear in mind that determining maximum
heart rates and personal training goals are vital elements of an effective and
risk-free training programme.
It is recommended that you seek the advice of your doctor or health
professional to set a maximum heart rhythm, your upper and lower rates,
and an exercise frequency and duration suited to your age, physical
condition and desired results.
Finally, because of possible disturbances caused by the radio transmission
system, we advise that users of pacemakers do not use a heart rate monitor
which uses this technology, such as the CW T500.
Failure to comply with these recommendations may cause a fatal risk.
FIRST USE
Before using your CW T500 heart rate monitor, read the instructions
carefully and follow the setting procedures closely.
Batteries
The chest strap uses a CR 2032 3V battery.
The watch uses a CR 2032 3V battery.
20
Watch :
We recommend that you do not change the watch battery yourself. Instead
you should ask a DECATHLON specialist to change it for you.
If you change the battery yourself, you risk damaging the seal, thus impairing
the waterproof design and voiding your warranty.
EN
Please check the availability of the battery with your retailer before you
travel.
Chest strap :
If the heart rate data becomes incoherent or the heart symbol does not flash
on the screen when the watch is placed in its cradle, it may be necessary to
change the chest strap battery.
You can change the battery yourself, without the aid of specialist tools.
How to change the battery :
• Unscrew the battery compartment lid using a coin and then remove it.
• Remove the old battery by tapping the other side of the strap.
• Replace the used battery with a CR2032 3V lithium battery without
touching the 2 poles (it may lose its charge). The battery should be
positioned with the + pole (printed side) facing upwards.
• Replace the lid carefully (be careful with the waterproof join) and turn it a
quarter of a turn to the "close" position.
RECYCLING
The “crossed-out bin” symbol indicates that this product and
the batteries it contains cannot be disposed of with household
waste. They are subject to a specific type of sorting. Deposit
the batteries and your unusable electronic product in an
authorised collection area for recycling. This treatment of your
electronic waste will protect the environment and your health.
Measurement pads
21
Placing procedure :
1. Moisten the pads with
water or a conductive
liquid gel to ensure good
contact.
2. Insert one of the ends of
the elastic into one of the
specially designed holes
in the strap.
3. Join the strap around
your chest and position it
just below your pectoral
muscles. Place one of
the pads below your
heart and the other Receiver
under your right pectoral
muscle.
4. Adjust the length of the
strap for a firm but
comfortable hold. The Receiver
strap should not move if
you jump or move your
arms.
5. Check it is positioned correctly by holding the watch 50cm away.
The heart symbol should flash on the display.
Important :
• Avoid positioning the pads on very hairy areas.
• In cold and dry climates, the strap may need several minutes to work
correctly. The pads need a layer of sweat to ensure contact with the skin.
• When it begins taking measurements, the watch may show very high
values for around 20 seconds. This is the algorithm beginning. After this
time the display will stabilise and show correct values.
• Be careful to insert the elastic strap clip into the hole in the strap designed
for this purpose. Maintain the lock pin by passing your finger behind the
strap.
NAVIGATION SYSTEM
The heart rate monitor has six different modes :
HRM mode : displays heart rate on the top line. Displays the exercise
stopwatch, exercise intensity in %, time in the target zone, calories
expended, and average and maximum rate on the middle line. Displays the
heart symbol and out of target zone arrows. Displays recovery time
necessary after exercise.
DATA mode : displays data saved during each session: exercise time,
exercise intensity, time in the target zone, calories expended, average and
maximum rate, time out of the target zone and the time needed to reach
recovery rate.
22
ALARM mode : displays the time set for the alarm and whether or not the
alarms are activated (ON or OFF).
To change modes, press S2. The mode name (TIME, HRM, etc) is displayed
on the screen for two seconds before the home screen of the function

If you have selected manual mode (“manu”), you now set the lower limit.
“SET LO” is displayed. Set the value you have chosen using S1.
Now access upper limit settings by pressing S2. “SET HI” is displayed. Set
the value you have chosen with S1.
If you have selected automatic mode (“auto”), you can now set your resting
heart rate. This should be measured when you get up in the morning, before
any physical exercise. Set the value with S1. The default value is 50 beats
per minute but you can set a value as low as 30 beats per minute. Go to the
next setting.
Now set your maximum heart rate. The default value displayed is the result
of a theoretical calculation based on your age and gender. If you wish, you
can modify this value with S1. To accurately calculate your maximum heart
rate, we recommend that you undertake an exercise test with your doctor.
Go to the next setting.
Next set the lower target zone limit, shown in %. “Min In” is displayed. Set
the desired value with S1 and then go to upper limit setting (“Max In”) with
S2. Set the desired value with S1.
Having set the limits for the target zone, press S2 to activate the out of zone
alarm. Select “ON” or “OFF” with S1.

Operation/Procedure
Check that the strap is positioned correctly around your rib cage, as in the
diagram featured in these instructions.
After checking the two points above, bring the HRM watch close to the strap you are
wearing to check that transmission is re-established. If necessary, change the strap
battery as indicated in the instructions.
You may be in an area with a strong magnetic field, a power line, a catenary
system, radio communication equipment, etc. In this event, move away from the
area.
The strap does not have a coded transmitter. The strap does not have a coded
transmitter.
Check that the strap is fastened correctly and that the electrodes are well
moistened. If the strap rubs it will send a signal which does not match your heart
rhythm.
When the weather is dry and cold the product may send out erroneous
information for a few minutes. This is normal because a layer of sweat is needed
to provide good contact between the skin and the electrodes.
For several dozen seconds the value displayed may not match your actual heart
rhythm. This is due to the beginning of the algorithm.
Activate the RESET function by holding down S1, S2, S3 and S4 simultaneously
for two seconds. Then follow the setting procedure described in the instructions.
The target zone alarm is probably activated, and you are out of the zone. Refer
to the instructions for how to set the zone or deactivate the target zone alarm.

TRAINING GUIDELINES
For best results and to protect your safety, it is essential that you are aware
of various physiological factors linked to training.
The advice we provide below is aimed at healthy, sporty people without any
medical difficulties.
We strongly advise you to seek the advice of your doctor to design more
accurate training zones.
To maximise the benefits of your physical training, you should first find your
maximum heart rate (MHR) in beats per minute (bpm).
Your MHR can be estimated in the following way:
MHR = 220 - your age
During a fitness programme, several training zones will give specific results
corresponding to different objectives.
Depending on exercise intensity, the proportion of energy coming from the
combustion of sugars and fats changes.
