Movie title: Hidden figures

Hidden Figure is a movie based on a true story that shows the inequality and discrimination
among African- American people.

3 Gender-related biased/ discrimination from the Hidden Figures
1. Racial discrimination is one of the gender-related biased/ discrimination in the movie.
African-American women have been given a chance and opportunities to work in NASA,
black people still facing discrimination and biases. They are treated less favorably than
the other workers because of their skin color. Racial discrimination for the black people
that they had to use separate bathrooms, cafeteria/canteen, drinking fountains,
entrances on buses, and library that is exclusively for black people only.

2. Black people or the African-American women who are working in NASA experiencing
discrimination in the workplace. Black people can’t have a position they wanted and
that matches their ability. All they got was being in low positions and getting a low
salary even though they work hard. And even if they can be promoted to a higher
position, they can’t be promoted because of their skin color and lack of education.

3. Gender discrimination that is more likely to happen to women because they often
considered being weak and underestimating their ability. Katherine being discriminated
against by other white men, underestimating her ability, and treated like nobody. On
the other hand, Mary’s application to be an Engineer in NASA was being rejected
because she is a woman, particularly an African-American woman, although she has all
the requirements to be an engineer. However, she has all the requirements and
knowledge to be an Engineer.

What would you do PERSONALLY to correct these biased/discrimination, and WHY?

Gender-related biases and discrimination happen around us all the time, particularly
racism and unfair treatment for people because of their skin color that affects their life.
“Hidden Figures” is a movie that shows discrimination in every area in a workplace, library,
comfort room, and segregation of black people to white people

As an individual who against any biases and discrimination, I personally correct these
biases and discrimination by listening to other people's stories about their experience of being
discriminated, give advice as much as I can because discrimination may affect the mental health
of the people experiencing discrimination. More importantly, educate myself, take time to think
about other people's feelings, and give equal treatment to them, rather than relying on
stereotypes to describe them. I see myself from the perspective of other people who are
experiencing bias and discrimination. For a reason, that what if I experience this discrimination,
what would I do, what action should I make to overcome those biases and discrimination?
Correcting those biases and discrimination is a very hard to accomplish. All I can say is that
educating ourself and give an equal treatment to everyone is the best way to stop those biases
and discrimination.
