Spoiler alert!
It is recommended to play Little Misfortune
before venturing into this artbook
Preface
We wanted to create a story that mirrored many aspects of our
lives, especially those we felt ashamed and afraid of sharing.
To make a change for ourselves and give us the prize of Eternal
Happiness, by accepting everything that could be interpreted as a
failure in our lives.

For example, parents that neglected us, leave us, kill themselves.
A society that couldn’t nourish the best parts of us. Instead we
were oppressed and undermined by social laws.
We were taught to be afraid of giving and receiving love for many
years. And by accepting everything that had happened, we could
finally let go.

Little Misfortune is our manifesto, when even in the darkest of

times, we could always be creative, play and have fun. To be
grateful and be amused by the smallest of things, to live life with a
lot of joy.

With the process of creating Little Misfortune, we have become

stronger emotionally. We have laughed and cried, without being
ashamed. We have learned so many valuable lessons.
It gave us the strength to embrace every dream and if failure would
make an appearance, we would embrace it, learn from it and later
make the necessary changes to use failure to our advantage.
Because every experience is a gain and it is our task to sprinkle our
lives with some sparkle.

Truly yours,
Isak and Natalia Martinsson.
Misfortune Ramírez Hernández.
Eight-year-old little lady

She is imaginative, loves to draw, to dance and to play with cut-out

dolls. She has three best friends, Bubsy, Stony and Sweet Unicorn.
This young lady loves to sprinkle sparkle on things, so they become
fabulous.
Lately, Misfortune has been hearing a voice in her head, that she
calls, Mr. Voice.

Misfortune lives in a tiny town called Openfields.

Openfields is rich in woods, endless hay fields and a gorgeous open
sky. In the town we can find different stores, a church and the train
station. Sometimes the amusement park “Phantasmagoria” comes
around and that’s where the whole town gathers at least once a
year.

Misfortune’s family moved to Openfields in search of new

opportunities. Sadly, her father is abusive and her mother an
alcoholic.
Misfortune herself wishes to become a “juice drinker” when she
grows up.

Misfortune knows that something is wrong in her family. She

wishes to give her mother the happiness that she deserves.
The mysterious Mr. Voice then invites her on a quest for eternal
happiness, if she can reach the end of his game.
Isn’t it convenient?
Benjamin Juhanelius Redfox.
Really cute fox

Benjamin is a young fox. He is shy and enjoys taking long walks in

the woods. Collecting sticks and mushrooms is one of his favorite
activities, as is also listening to music and taking long baths.

Benjamin lives in Senersedee. Senersedee is the common name

given to the Fourth Reality of The Ultrareality.
He was sent to Openfields with an important task; to find the para-
sites who usually visit Pandora. Pandora is the common name
given to the Third Reality of The Ultrareality. And that’s the
reality we humans normally live in.

The parasites come from “The Beyond.”

This place resides in The Ultrareality but is not accepted by the
F.R.E.E (Five Realms of Essential Existence).
“The Beyond” is still a misunderstood realm.

In his journey, Benjamin finds one of the most dangerous parasites

out there, Morgo.
Benjamin, while being in Openfields gets another important task;
to bring Misfortune to his boss, Death itself.
Environmental Inspiration
The environment of Little Misfortune is strongly
inspired by the area of Dalecarlia in Sweden.
The developers, Natalia and Isak, moved to a tiny town called
Hedemora in Dalecarlia, in the Spring of 2016. The church in this
picture is based on a local church in Hedemora.
Morgo
The Monster, the parasite

Morgo is a parasite from “The Beyond”. Lurking in the shadows,

trying to find his next prey to lure into his sturdy jaws.

Morgo’s favorite food is confused little children, who are hungry

for love. He feeds on pain, shame and sadness.

He then invites his victims to play dangerous games, deforming

their reality into absurdity, showing the children what they desire
the most. He keeps the victims clueless, of the real intentions of his
evil plans, until it is too late.

When Morgo the parasite is near, the environment changes,

warning signals appear everywhere. Large flocks of black birds
arrive, children go missing and the citizens start feeling ashamed
and fearful.

The black birds are the eyes of Morgo, giving him an overview of
his playing ground.

Morgo possesses other abilities as well, such as telepathic

communication with his victims and telekinesis. He is also a
shapeshifter.
