Migration Essay
“I wrote some notes at the beginning of a song someone will sing for me, America, you
great unfinished symphony you sent for me. You let me make a difference, a place where even
orphan immigrants can leave their fingerprints and rise up.” This is a line from the famous
Broadway musical Hamilton. This musical follows the life of Alexander Hamilton and what he
did to help build our country as we know it. If you know anything about Alexander Hamilton you
will know that he himself was an immigrant. With this in mind, the government should be more
lenient with the situation of taking in immigrants. We should focus more on not letting in Illegal
immigrants because legal immigrants can still benefit the country like a normal US citizen
would.

For example, in the situation of the economy, all they speak about, on the news, is how
illegal immigrants harm our economy, however, legal immigrants can benefit the economy by
creating jobs, offering a new set of skills to better forward jobs that already exist, and just by
having a job in the first place. Them creating new jobs gives a wide spectrum of the jobs that
are available to the public. Better forwarding jobs with their skill set can provide many more
opportunities in a certain job that are not available at the moment. And just plain out working for
a given job position already and being a normal hard working citizen betters our country. Some
people may say that the immigrants will take their jobs and then they would be left with no way
to provide for their family. However, even if someone loses their job to immigrants there are
other fields of work that you can take up. For example, if you are an entrepreneur your job
cannot be taken because you are basically your own boss.

However, illegal immigrants, on the other hand, can burden the common taxpayer. This
is due to the fact that if they are not a US citizen they are not on the countries record and they
do not have to pay taxes. This burdens the common taxpayer because instead of our takes
going into things to benefit our country they go to helping immigrants and other minority groups
that don’t legally have to pay taxes, and this causes taxes to go up even for the people that can
barely handle the price before. The other side of this argument may say that taxes are a part of
life and that they are going up because of inflation, not illegal immigrants. This is not true,
however, seen as they can't pay taxes because they are poor the taxes that all of them would
have to pay gets spread out onto what we already pay just to keep our economy stable.
