Practical knowledge means the visualization of the knowledge, which we read in our books.
For this, we perform experiments and get observations. Practical knowledge is very importay
experience which are learned during my training period. And finally it is conclusion which
gives a summary about the training.. One must be familiar with the problems related to that
field so that he may solve them and become a successful person.

After achieving the proper goal in life, a designer has to enter in professional life. According
to this life, he has to serve an industry, may be public or private sector or self-own. For the
efficient work in the field, he must be well aware of the practical knowledge as well as
theoretical knowledge.

To be a good designer, one must be aware of the industrial environment and must know about
management, working in the industry, labour problems etc. so he can tackle them successfully.

Due to all the above reasons and to bridge the gap between theory and practical, our Bachelor

works in the industry and gets all type of experience and knowledge about the working and
maintenance of various types of machinery, procedures, productions details, fabric

About the Project (Designing in Sampling Department)

Sampling of garments is given excellent emphasis. It determines the approval of
future orders from customers and fetches enterprise for a garment production or export
organization. Sampling is considered one of key factors of the pre-manufacturing
procedures in a garment enterprise. Before a producer produces bulk orders, a prior
sampling of styles is finished to get approvals and jumpstart the fabrication of clothes.
Sampling isn't only for shoppers, but the manufacturers can also derive estimates of
yarn consumption for improvement of cloth, dyeing, printing, and stitching cost for a
specific style or sample given with the aid of the client. Companies could have a
separate sampling department or a merchandiser, who works intently with the
sampling segment to supply raw materials, and approaches for developing a fine
product for a low priced charge.
Sampling consists of information like a product/fashion code or a reference range,
coloration specs, form of material, composition, description, quantity, and details of
embroidery, buttons, zippers, or any other form of add-ons used. Hence it may be
stated that samples of clothes paintings as a bridge among customers and the
producers.

The summer training I undergone was in the Sampling Department, as a designer.

During the training period, it was totally understood by me how does the sampling
department works and what are procedures followed during the sampling.
I did the work in the sampling department is done in steps which include:
 Having a thorough research about the details and the kind of products our
buyers wants; understanding the need of the buyer.
 Designing and web searching further and finalizing the designs.
 Having a meeting with the Senior Designer and getting the designs approved.
 Start working on the mocks and test fits on a cheaper fabric, just to get the look
of it.
 Getting those approved.
 Understanding the trend-briefing thoroughly and go through the colors and
prints and details demanded by the buyer.
 Sourcing the fabrics according to the need.
 Finalizing the fabrics with the fits and mocks respectively.
 Approval by the senior designers.
 Finishing and Packaging and Costing.
 Final Sending.

The above procedures were followed in the sampling department there.

There were two sending’s in the time period of 40 days and I was a part of
both.
