What is social?

The term "social" refers to an individual's intimate interactions with others in their immediate
vicinity or the general public (Matúš & Timčák, Gejza., 2016). The word "social" can be
described in the sense of tourism as "the relations and phenomena related to the involvement
of people in destination countries as well as holidaymakers, of deprived levels of society or
those unable to engage in tourism, holidays, and their benefits for any reason." It also refers
to programmes, events, and activities that allow all demographic groups – particularly youth,
families, seniors, low-income persons, and people with physical limitations – to experience
tourism while also focusing on the quality of connections between visitors and host
communities (Ritchie, J. B., 2017). The increase in valuable relationships between the person
and the world around him or her is the increase of social capital. Improvements in self-
confidence, the expansion of community networks, innovative forms of prioritising
responsibilities, changes in work circumstances, and improved budgeting skills are all
examples of how social capital will develop.
