HEAT, CAUSE, PREVENT

Since our country is near the equator, high temperature is expected


by the Filipinos. But as time pass by, the temperature become hotter
every summer. One of the reasons are the CLIMATE CHANGE and the
GREENHOUSE EFFECT.

What to Do When Experiencing Heat: PREVENTION


-One of the basics are drinking lots of water for you to stay hydrated.
-Stay in a cool place if possible.
-Always stay in a tree shade whenever you’re in an open places
like quadrangle, oval, field,etc.;
-Avoid exhaustion whenever you are in direct heat to preserve your energy.

IT’S FIRST AID

HEAT EXHAUSTION:
-is caused by loss of salt and water due tonexcessively high temperature. This may lead
to heatstroke and worst, death.

You May Apply First Aid by:


-Transport to a cool place like; shade of a tree and etc.
-Drink plenty of water.
-Then seek for medical health.

HEAT STROKE:
-is caused by a failure of the “THERMOSTAT” in the brain to regulate the body
temperature. When this happens, the body becomes seriously heated.

You May Apply First Aid by:


-Move the victim immediately to a cool place.
-Remove as much of his/her outer clothing if possible.
-Call for medical help.
-Wrap the person in a cold , wet sheet and keep the sheet wet until his temperature drops
to 38⁰C or 37.5⁰C under the tounge or armpit, respectively.
-If the victim has returned to normal temperature replace wet sheet with dry one.
-Monitor vital signs until help arrives.
-If temperature rises repeat cooling process.
