WELCOME AND ENJOY

WORKING ON YOUR

TASK IN

THE TEACHING PROFESSION COURSE

I. COURSE DESCRIPTION
The course deals with the teacher as a person and as a professional within the context of national and
global teachers’ standards and educational philosophies. It will include professional ethics, core values,
awareness of professional rights, privileges and responsibilities as well as the teachers’ roles in the
society as transformative agent of change. Considering the Philippine Professional Standards Vincentian
School Vision and Mission, the course gives emphasis on the influence of a teacher in the development
of student’s life and competencies as future professional teachers.

II. COURSE LEARNING GUIDE

In order to be effective and efficient in doing your task, you have to follow some guidelines. Should you
have questions or comments on any of these guidelines, let’s discuss them! FEEL FREE to add to the lists
that are appropriate.

Guidelines for SYNCHRONOUS (Online) Participation

Attendance and presence are required for this class. You are expected to log on a minimum of once per
week (during synchronous meeting once a week) and are expected to post a substantive contribution to
the discussion at that time. Simply saying “hello” or “I agree” is not considered as substantive
contribution. You must support your position or begin a new topic or you may add somehow to the
discussion when logging on.

Assignments will be posted online. You will be asked to comment on and provide feedback to one
another on your work.

Although I strongly suggest that all issues, questions, and problems be dealt with online, you can feel
free to call or e-mail either of us regarding these issues between 7:00 am to 8:00 pm ONLY.

Use good “netiquette” such as:

Check the discussion frequently and respond appropriately on the subject.

Focus on one subject per message and use pertinent subject titles.

Capitalize words only to highlight a point or for titles – capitalizing otherwise is generally viewed as
SHOUTING!

Be professional and careful with your online interaction.

Cite all quotes, references, and sources.

When posting a long message, it is generally considered courteous to warn readers at the beginning of
the message that is lengthy post.

It is considered extremely rude to forward someone else’s messages without their permission, so always
ask first.

It is fine to use humour, but use it carefully. The absence of face-to-face cues can cause humour to be
misinterpreted as criticism or flaming (angry, antagonistic criticism). Feel free to use emotions such as :)
or ;) to let others know that you’re being humorous.

Rubrics will be used on the points given in every activity that you will do and will be discussed to you
during synchronous meeting.

Guidelines for ASYNCHRONOUS (Offline) Participation

Take responsibility for your own learning. Plan to be a self-directed learner. Do not expect the instructor
to provide you with all the information and direction you need in the course.

Before you start doing your tasks, read and understand the assessment tools provided. Do not settle
with the low standards, target the highest standards

Read work on the content of this learning packet RELIGIOUSLY and INDEPENDENTLY.

Make a schedule of on how you are going to finish activities. Be sure to follow the schedule you made.

If you did not understand the readings and other tasks, re-read. Focus. If this will not work, engage all
possible resources. If this will not work again, text me first so that I can call you or text you back for
assistance.

I strongly suggest that all issues, questions, and problems be dealt accordingly. Feel free to call or e-mail
me regarding these issues between 7:00 am to 8:00 pm ONLY.
