Company Overview

We are a transportation company, designing and manufacturing an all-electric,

vertical take-off and landing aircraft which we intend to operate as a commercial
passenger service starting in 2024. We have spent more than 10 years perfecting
the design of our piloted, five-seat aircraft which will make clean, quiet, and fast air
travel an everyday reality for journeys of five to 150 miles. Our prototypes have
already flown more than 1000 test flights and we have secured a ‘G-1’ certification
basis for our aircraft with the FAA, paving the way for us to achieve certification of
our aircraft in 2023. Following certification, we intend to deploy our aircraft
ourselves as part of an on-demand, aerial ridesharing service.

Commercial Strategy

Joby Aviation is developing a piloted, all-electric, vertical takeoff and landing

passenger aircraft which it intends to operate as a fast, clean, quiet and affordable
air taxi service. Over time, the cost of these trips per passenger is expected to be
on par with an UberX.

The aircraft will be part of an on-demand commercial aviation service similar to

today’s ground-based ridesharing and will not be available for individual sale.

For example, instead of driving the 44 miles from Los Angeles Airport to Newport
Beach - a trip that may take up to an hour and fifteen minutes - a Joby aircraft could
get you there in just fifteen minutes with zero operating emissions.

In the growing metroplex of Dallas, TX, it can take more than a half hour to make a
20 mile commute from Plano to downtown each morning. A Joby aircraft can do
that trip in under 10 minutes!

Joby is targeting commercial operations to start in 2024.

Certification

In 2015, Joby settled on the design configuration of the Joby Aircraft and we
started policy discussions with the FAA at that point. We began our formal Federal
Aviation Administration (FAA) certification program in 2018 by applying for type
certification.

Joby is certifying the aircraft under FAA’s part 23-64 rules plus special conditions,
with the majority of the conditions reflecting a normal category aircraft and the
remainder consisting of special conditions to address performance such as fly-by-

wire and batteries. Because Joby has designed and matured the motors and
propellers, we are also certifying those aspects as part of the overall design
approval process with the FAA.

In 2020, Joby and the FAA agreed to a ‘G-1’ certification basis for the aircraft. This
agreement lays out the specific requirements that need to be met by Joby’s aircraft
in order for it to be certified. Press Release

Our certification schedule leads us to completing FAA type certification in 2023.

We expect the Joby Aircraft to be the first part 23 aircraft to be certified with a
version of unified flight controls.

Aircraft Milestones
2009 A small group of engineers explored the frontiers of electric motors,
flight software and lithium-ion batteries designing almost every
component from the ground up.

2012 Joby was selected by NASA to work together on what became the
first of several groundbreaking electric flight collaborations, including
LEAPTech and the X-57.

2015 Joby’s first subscale prototype flew for the first time.

2017 Joby’s first full-scale prototype first took to the skies.

2019 Joby’s first production prototype began the rigorous flight test
program to support certification.

2020 The U.S. Air Force granted its first ever eVTOL airworthiness
certification to Joby as part of its Agility Prime program.

2021 Joby’s flight test program achieved over 1000 flights

Partnerships

Toyota
Toyota invested $394 million as the lead investor in Joby’s Series C financing, but
will provide more than pure financial backing. We’re fortunate to have insight into
Toyota’s engineering and manufacturing expertise. Toyota engineers are working
shoulder to shoulder with Joby engineers on projects. Toyota’s CEO Akio Toyoda
has stated that his belief in and commitment to Joby is rooted in his goal to “realize
the flying car dreams of his grandfather Kiichiro.”

Uber
In late 2020, Uber Technologies, Inc agreed to invest $75 million in Joby (in addition
to its $50 million Series C investment) as part of a broader transaction involving the
acquisition by Joby of Uber Elevate and an expanded partnership between the two
parent companies. Joby and Uber have agreed to integrate their respective services
into each other’s apps, enabling seamless integration between ground and air
travel for future customers.

Elevate
The Elevate team, which was acquired by Joby from Uber, has not only played an
important role in this emerging industry, they have also developed a remarkable
set of software tools that build on more than a decade of experience enabling
on-demand mobility. The team has now been fully integrated into Joby.

Agility Prime
Joby Aviation is grateful for the role that the US government is playing in
supporting, and accelerating, the next generation of civil aviation – and
supporting American innovation and manufacturing – through programs like
Agility Prime. The program provides Joby access to key research facilities and
equipment and allows us to prove out the maturity and reliability of our aircraft.
Through this work we will gain further knowledge that will accelerate our joint
success over decades to come.

REEF/NPG
REEF is the country’s largest parking garage operator focused on transforming
these underutilized assets into multi-use mobility hubs. REEF’s assets include more
than 5,000 sites across North America and Europe and reach more than 70% of the
American public. Through the partnership, Joby gains access to an unparalleled
range of rooftop locations across all key metropolitan areas in the US, as well as a
mechanism to fund the acquisition and development of new skyport sites.

Toray
Joby Aviation and Toray Advanced Composites completed a long-term supply
agreement for the composite material used for Joby’s aircraft. Carbon fiber
materials are used throughout the aircraft structure, propulsion systems, and
interior components.

Garmin
Garmin will be providing their state-of-the-art G3000 integrated flight deck to
Joby for our aircraft. The G3000 integrated flight deck has been reliably
demonstrated across a variety of aircraft and brings seamless integration for the
unique requirements of eVTOL aircraft.
