The Lands
of Urek
These are the lands of Urek, a cold and arid
place in the northern reaches of the known
world. Here lives the nomad giant folk of
Dunar, descendants of the now-forgotten
titans that once ruled this huge territory.
In the Muraz citadel down south lives
a hideous, but gentle curious people.
Little is known about the northern titans
because long ago they simply vanished.
The Dunar tell a story about an enormous
bright, sparkling cloud that suddenly formed
in the sky on a summer night throwing
lightning bolts all over the place. Since this
strange event ages ago, no single titan was
encountered walking over Urek.
Urek is a cold, rugged territory cut by some
rivers flowing from the northern frozen
mountains. The giants travel these lands
in search of food, mainly roots, berries,
honey, lizards, snakes, small mammals, and
birds found living in this harsh area. Dunar
folk rides the furry, primitive Den, a huge
muscular ox breed used to carry all their tents
and pottery. In times of need, the Dunar eat
Den meat and use their large bones to build
hunting weapons and improvised tools.
Den milk is too unpleasant and indigestible
for the Dunar stomach.
Sometimes the Dunar visit the old Muraz
citadel for trading goods. However, the
inhabitants of this walled, fortified place don’t
have the giant blood in their veins. Instead,
these human-sized beings have limp, rubber-
like whitened skin. Their heads are bulbous
and have many tiny, poor low vision eyes.

Normally the Muraz have eight eyes but some
rare individuals grow twenty or thirty. Their
arms are long, thin, fragile, and reach the
ground. They walk slowly because their legs
are short and their backs bend with their big
deformed heads.
Although the Muraz folk are unhealthy and
weak, their intelligence gave them enough
knowledge to create wonders: their city is a
splendid place, full of round towers with high
domes made of colorful glass in intricate
geometric patterns. Almost everything
is lavishly adorned with bronze, silver,
and precious stones.
The people of Muraz trade bronze tools for
precious stones with the Dunar. Some of the
giant tribes say they can find these purple-
colored pellets near an ivory-white tower in
the north. The Muraz don’t know this place
yet and nothing is said about it in their prolific
libraries but they are willing to discover what
it is and most importantly, what lies inside it.
The Dunar are strong but not so smart. Their
health is superb although they can’t stand Den
milk. They can fight with bone-tipped spears
and bone clubs. They can weave short but
resistant Den hair ropes and wear leather
to withstand the dangers of the wilds.
The Muraz are weak but very bright. They
aren’t warriors although they can use some
sharp tiny bronze blades. They can defend
themselves with chain mail and round shields.
They can read and write in their own language
to record their discoveries.

Estas são as terras de Urek, um lugar frio e
árido no extremo norte do mundo conhecido.
Aqui vive o povo nômade gigante de Dunar,
descendentes dos agora esquecidos titãs
que governaram este enorme território.
Na cidadela de Muraz, no sul, vive um
povo curioso, medonho, mas gentil.
Pouco se sabe sobre os titãs do norte
porque há muito tempo eles simplesmente
desapareceram. Os Dunar contam a história de
uma enorme nuvem brilhante e cintilante que
de repente se formou no céu em uma noite de
verão, lançando raios por todo o lugar. Desde
este estranho evento há muito tempo, nenhum
titã foi encontrado caminhando sobre Urek.
Urek é um território frio e acidentado, cortado
por alguns rios que fluem das montanhas
congeladas do norte. Os gigantes viajam
por essas terras em busca de alimentos,
principalmente raízes, frutos silvestres,
mel, lagartos, cobras, pequenos mamíferos
e pássaros que vivem nesta área inóspita.
O povo Dunar cavalga o peludo e primitivo
Den, uma raça de bois enormes e musculosos,
usada para carregar todas as suas tendas
e cerâmicas. Em tempos de necessidade,
os Dunar comem carne de Den e usam seus
ossos grandes para construir armas de caça
e ferramentas improvisadas. O leite de Den
é muito desagradável e indigesto para
o estômago dos Dunar.
Às vezes, os Dunar visitam a velha cidadela de
Muraz para negociar mercadorias. No entanto,
os habitantes deste lugar amuralhado e
fortificado não têm o sangue gigante nas veias.
Em vez disso, estes seres de tamanho humano
têm uma pele esbranquiçada como borracha.
Suas cabeças são bulbosas e possuem muitos
olhos minúsculos de visão limitada.

Normalmente, os Muraz têm oito olhos,
mas alguns raros indivíduos chegam aos
vinte ou trinta. Seus braços são longos, finos,
frágeis e chegam ao chão. Eles caminham
devagar porque suas pernas são curtas
e suas costas se dobram com suas grandes
cabeças deformadas.
Embora o povo Muraz seja pouco saudável e
fraco, sua inteligência deu-lhes conhecimento
suficiente para criar maravilhas: sua cidade é
um lugar esplêndido, cheio de torres redondas
com cúpulas altas feitas de vidro colorido em
padrões geométricos intrincados. Quase tudo
é ricamente adornado com bronze, prata
e pedras preciosas.
O povo de Muraz troca ferramentas de
bronze por pedras preciosas com os Dunar.
Algumas das tribos gigantes dizem que podem
encontrar essas bolinhas de cor roxa perto de
uma torre branco-marfim no norte. Os Muraz
ainda não conhecem este lugar e nada é dito
sobre ele em suas prolíficas bibliotecas, mas
estão dispostos a descobrir o que é e, o mais
importante, o que está dentro dele.
Os Dunar são fortes, mas não tão espertos.
A saúde deles é excelente, embora eles não
suportem o leite Den. Eles podem lutar com
lanças de pontas de osso e porretes de osso.
Eles podem tecer cordas de cabelo Den curtas,
mas resistentes, e usar couro para suportar
os perigos dos ermos.
Os Muraz são fracos, mas muito brilhantes.
Eles não são guerreiros, embora possam
usar pequenas lâminas de bronze afiadas.
Eles podem se defender com cota de malha
e escudos redondos. Eles podem ler e escrever
em seu próprio idioma para registrar
suas descobertas.
