SUMMARY, CONCLUSION, AND RECOMMENDATION

Summary
The main objective of this study is to determine the causes of stress and its relation to
the academic performance of Senior High School.
Specifically, it will aim to determine the profile of the students (name, grade, and
strand), influence of stress from social factors to the intellectual abilities of the students, and
the most influential stressor.
The study will be conducted at Licerio Antiporda Sr. National High School- Dalaya
Annex, Dalaya, Buguey, Cagayan on the second semester of the school year 2019-2020.
The respondents of this will be the students of the Senior High School at Licerio Antiporda
Sr. National High School- Dalaya Annex. The researchers will use descriptive survey
research design with non-probabilistic sampling method specifically quota sampling. It was
used to yield a better result and it is advantageous for the researchers to use this method in
order for them to tabulate the data easier and can save time and effort. In gathering the data,
the researchers used the survey questionnaire. The questionnaire consisted of three parts.
Part I, profile of the respondents. Part II, what are the causes of the respondents’ stressors.
Part III, the effects of stress towards their academic performance.
It is revealed in Figure 3 the different causes of stress of the respondents in both
grade level and strand in the school. For the Requirements, 37 of the respondents said that
this is the cause of their stress, 27 for the examination, 24 for the financial, 16 said that the
cause of their stress is also with their fellow students, 9 for the parents, 7 for the siblings, 5
for the teachers, and 2 said others.
The following are the positive response received: I feel that my parents feel that I am
not serious with my studies (17), I feel confident about my ability to support myself
financially (19), I cannot pay attention in class (16), I study but have trouble passing
tests/assignments (19), I am not sure if I am able to do well in school (19), My attendance is

poor (30), I am often late for class (19), I have too many assignments (17), I cannot stay
awake in class (30), I feel sad/ depressed (18), I do not feel like anyone cares about me (23),
I do not want to do things that I used to like to do (18).
Negative responses were received in respect of the following: I feel that the
assignments and projects given by some teachers are too hard (12), Some teachers provide
too much data which causes me to be unable to finish studying and to understand the
knowledge 13), I do not get good enough sleep at night because I worry about quizzes and
exams (15), I often face problems as how to share work with my classmates when some
exercises or reports require group work (30), When I give a presentation, I worry that my
classmates will laugh at my inability to perform well (24), I feel that my parents feel that I
am not serious with my studies (14), I worry that my academic results will not meet
expectations of my parents (23), When I want to study on my own in class, I am affected by
my classmates’ chatting (22).
The learners were uncertain about the following aspects: I feel that the assignments
and projects given by some teachers are too hard (22), Some teachers provide too much data
which causes me to be unable to finish studying and to understand the knowledge (14), I do
not get good enough sleep at night because I worry about quizzes and exams (12), I often
face problems as how to share work with my classmates when some exercises or reports
require group work (5), When I give a presentation, I worry that my classmates will laugh at
my inability to perform well (9), I feel that my parents feel that I am not serious with my
studies (8), I worry that my academic results will not meet expectations of my parents (12),
When I want to study on my own in class, I am affected by my classmates’ chatting (9), I
feel confident about my ability to support myself financially (11), I cannot pay attention in
class (12), I study but have trouble passing tests/assignments (10), I am not sure if I am able
to do well in school (11), My attendance is poor (6), I am often late for class (17), I have too
many assignments (16), I cannot stay awake in class (9), I feel sad/ depressed (12), I do not
feel like anyone cares about me (12), I do not want to do things that I used to like to do (17),
I feel like I have too much pressure (16).

Requirements are the most influential stressor based from the results of the study.
Moreover, there are some negative impacts of stress towardto the academic performance of
the Senior High School students of LASNHS-DALAYA ANNEX.

Conclusion
Based from the result of the study, the following conclusions were drawn:
1. The number one cause of stress among senior high school students is requirements
with 37 respondents who claimed it.
2. There are some negative impacts of stress towards the academic performance of the
students.

Recommendations
The researchers would like to recommend the following:
1. Longer time should be given to conduct the study.
2. Teachers should provide good teaching methodologies to enhance the learning skills
and ideas for students.
3. School must implement different programs and activities regarding stress
management.
4. Parents should counsel their children who are experiencing stress.
