THE OLD RETURNING ALTAR SERVERS

Coordinator: May I now request the Old Returning Altar Server

Candidates who wish to be re-commissioned to stay behind our New
Candidates. (Roll call of names):

PRIEST: My dear Candidate Altar Servers, new and old, you are now
to declare before the Lord and His people your intention. (Candidates and
Old Altar Servers will kneel down. Old altar servers will stay at the back of
the ` new ones)

The love of God, / which is manifested
in Jesus Christ and celebrated in the Eucharist, / has called me to live a
true and authentic Christian life.//

I, (state your name, middle initial/ and

surname), / wish to respond to the call of God as an Altar Server by living
the Eucharistic Mystery / in all its fullness by assisting the Priest in the
celebration of the Holy Eucharist. / Inspired by the self-giving of Jesus
Christ, Himself, / I promise to fulfill my duties and responsibilities as an
Altar Server / with the help of the Virgin Mary, Our Patron Saint, St. John of
Sahagun/ together with the entire Christian community / and my dearly
beloved companions in the Ministry of Altar Servers. / All this I ask through
Christ our Lord. / Amen.

PRIEST: In Jesus Christ’s name, I, Rev. Fr. Virgilio Dolloso, your

Parish Spiritual Director, accepts your good intentions by offering
yourselves through your humble servanthood. May the good Lord always
assist; bless; inspire and strengthen you; and make you grow in His love in
the name of the Father + and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Altar Servers: (They will do the sign of the cross. Together with the
priest, they will response: Amen)

PRIEST: God of glory, your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, has shown us
that true worship comes from a humble and contrite heart. Bless our
brothers and sisters who have responded to the needs of our Parish, Saint
John of Sahagun; and wish to commit themselves to your service as
humble servants of Your Altar, grant that their ministry may be fruitful and
our worship pleasing in your sight.

(The altar servers with their new vestments will be blessed with Holy
Water.)

PRIEST: The offering of our Altar Servers has been accepted, as a

sign of our acceptance and support, let us give them a big round of
applause.
