CHALLENGES FACING UNLAWFUL AND ROADSIDE PARKING ACTIVITIES ON
CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT (CBD).
A case of Kariakoo in Ilala District.
Background information.
Introduction.
Both unlawful parking and roadside parking are aspects of parking violation whereas referring to
all act parking a motor vehicle in a restricted place or for parking in unauthorized manner. It is
against the law virtually everywhere to park a vehicle in the middle of a highway or road;
parking on one or both sides of a road, however, is commonly permitted. However, restrictions
apply to such parking, and may result in an offense being committed. Such offenses are usually
cited by a police officer or other government official in the form of a traffic ticket. (Tanzania

Background information.
As we all know that world’s population is increasing day by day. Increasing population
increases the vehicle use. So, now parking has become a major issue now a day. There is a huge
demand of proper parking facilities. In order to short out the parking demand, we need to study
the parking pattern so that we can improve the parking facilities. World’s vehicle use statics are
increasing day by day. It’s a major issue for proper parking facilities in order to maintain the
traffic conditions and adequate traffic flow. Accessing a parking service, an individual is
supposed to provide a fee so that his or her vehicle will be under supervision and secured.
Parking standards refers to the uniform procedures, dimension or materials applied during
providing parking spaces in a particular area such as a market place, industrial areas, residential
areas and other places that directly affect the design of a parking area. (McGraw-Hill concise
Encyclopedia of Engineering.2002). Initially we figured out what is the variation of PCU
(Passenger Car Unit) with a certain time and then we compared all these data with the help of t-
test to find out whether these parking pattern are same or different
Statement of the problem.
Despite of the presence of the Parking areas in city Centre, most of them do not satisfy the
requirement of the number of users in the city Centre. This is to say most of them are faced with
a lot of challenges that lead to their poor satisfaction to the users of this service. This study is
aimed at exploring the challenges facing parking service in city Centre and find out what should
be done to overcome the situation.
Broad objectives.
To explore the challenges facing unlawful and roadside Parking activities at the city Centre.
Specific objectives.
i. To examine the drawbacks facing parking services at city Centre.
ii. To suggest suitable upgrades of parking spaces at city Centre.
iii. To establish strict rules upon unlawful and roadside parking activities.
iv. To analyze parking requirements at city Centre.
v. To identify Parking areas and spaces in Centre areas.

Research questions
i. What are the challenges do drivers incur when accessing parking service in the city
Centre...?
ii. What is the nature and existing situation of parking service in the CBD?
iii. Who are the key stakeholders in parking service provision?
iv. How does the challenges facing parking service in city Centre will be solved?

There is relationship between unlawful parking with public space in the city Centre

Null hypothesis

There is no relationship between unlawful parking with public space in the city Centre
