Physical Education VIII

I – Objectives:
At the end of the lesson the students are expected to:
a. Discuss the history and origin of Binislakan
b. Execute the basic steps of folk dance in 2 4 time signature
c. Value folk dances as part of our cultural heritage

II – Subject Matter:
A. Topic: Philippine Folk Dances with Asian Influence: Binislakan

Reference: Physical Education and Health 8 pp. 148 to 155

Materials: PPT, pictures, music, speaker and projector.


III – Procedure

A. Daily Routine:

 Greetings
 Prayer
 Checking of Attendance
B. Review:
Ask: Do you still remember the fundamental steps of arms and feet?

(Execute the fundamental steps in dancing.)


C. Motivation:
Act. 1
“4 Pic 1 Word”

 Show four photographs on the board.


 Let the students guess what the word is by looking at four pictures with one common word.

D. Lesson Proper
Ask:
o What do you think is our lesson for today?
o Based from the pictures in act. 1 are these dances influenced by the other countries?
 Defining folkdance
 Naming some Phil. Folkdances with Asian influences
 Brief discussion of history and origin of binislakan
 Clap the counting of Binislakan

E. Generalization

What is the role of folk dance in our culture?


Folk dances has a great role in our culture it serve as a mirror that tells the nature of the people living in
that particular place such as; occupation, religion, customs and belief.
It is significant to have a dance that represents lifestyle, behavior and background so that this would
be a great help for them to be recognized and be part of the dance history.

IV – Evaluation

“Group Activity”

o Divide the class into 2 groups.


o Each Group will be given 15 mins. to practice.
o Perform the Basic Steps of folk dance in 2 4 time signature using the binislakan music to accompany
their steps.
