EVENT MANAGEMENT INDUSTRY

An event is a public assembly main purpose of it being celebration, marketing, education


or reunion. Events are classified according to their size, type or context.
Event Management is the process of analysing, planning, producing, marketing,
evaluating an event. Efficiently managed event can be used as powerful promotional tool
to launch or market a product or service. It requires certain values to be deployed to
each element, process and decision to achieve effective and efficient results.
The number of people required to organize event depends on the size and scale of the
event. It includes professionals like: Event Manager, Event Planner, Logistic manager,
Information manager, Event Coordinators.
Whether it’s a Big Fat Indian wedding, IPL event, music launches, concerts or themed

type of services collectively known as event management.
The event management industry in India began in the 1990s with the opening up of the
economy. Since then it is growing at a rate of 16% CAGR and is predicted to grow at 20% in
upcoming years. It is observing exponential growth because of its ability to adapt and grow with
innovative technology.

The events industry in India is predicted to cross 10,000 crore mark by 2020-21.The key growth
drivers for this are digital activation, rural expansion, sports leagues, and increased government

Adventure sports or extreme sports are activities undertaken through the medium of Land,
Water and Air and perceived as involving a high degree of risk. These activities often involve
height, speed, highly specialized gear and high level of physical exertion.
India has major geographical advantage over other countries because of its vast topological
layout and diversity. So India can be considered as ideal place to promote adventure and
outdoor activities.
India has inspired spiritual relationship to the natural world for many years. This magnificent

Indian Government regularly provides financial assistance to organizations such as


National Adventure Foundation(NAF), Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF), Sea
Explorer’s Institute in order to promote adventure activities under the National
Programme for Youth and Adolescent Programme(NPYAD). Scheme to conduct
adventure activities like awareness camps, training, workshops, seminars, exhibition,
film/slide shows etc. Along with these Himalayan Mountaineering Institute,
Darjeeling, West Bengal, Winter Sports, Jammu and Kashmir and the Jawahar
Institute of Mountaineering are the national level institutions which receive share
grants regularly under the scheme of promotion of adventure. The IMF is recognized
by the Indian government as the main body to oversee mountaineering activities across
the country and control the expeditions in the mountain peaks across the country in
consultation with Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Home Affairs.
