effective in 1985, is a skill-training programme designed for student of technology
based and practical of institution of higher learning which includes polytechnics,
colleges of education and universities in order to meet the employers of labor.

The four months supervised industrial attachment which is referred to as

Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) is a part of ND1 Industrial

CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION

1.1 ORIGIN AND BRIEF HISTORY OF SIWES

The student industrial work experience scheme (SIWES) as it is fondly called is a skill
training program designed for students of technology based and practical or internal
program off institutions of higher learning, which includes polytechnics, college of
educations and universities in other to meet the demand of the employers of labor. The
scheme became fully effectives in 1985. It has since been managed by the industrial
training fund and funded by the federal government of Nigeria

At the inception of this polytechnic, in the 1978/79 academics sessions, the

polytechnic and other technological institutions in Nigeria were preparing their
student for Nigeria National Diploma (ND) programmes. This was in compliance with
the policy of technological education of the federal military government headed by
Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo then also this was the view of ND with University.

Bachelor’s degree and thereby by placing graduate of both programme at a uniform

salary grade level (08) on entering into the public service of Nigeria.

In accordance with the policy as stimulated by the national board of technical

education (NBTE), institution often causes leading to the award of ND is science-
based and allied courses are to arrange with industries for placement and supervision
of their student for a four month supervised industrial training attachment now called
student industrial work experienced scheme (SIWES). This aspect of the policy had
been responsible for the establishment of industrial liaison and placement office
(ILPO) in the registrar’s department of all affected tertiary institutions including
Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, Ogun, State.

1.2 OBJECTIVES OF SIWES

The four supervised industrial Attachment is referred to as “student Industrial

technology base and allied courses.

1.3 SIWES OBJECTIVES;

The scheme is aimed at the following:

To provide the student with an opportunity to apply their knowledge in real

work situation thereby bridging the gap between college work and actual
practice.
To assess the student’s interest in an suitability for the occupation they have
chosen
To exposes the student to work method not thought in institutions and provides
access to the production equipment not normally available in the college
environment.
To enhance industry’s satisfaction with certificate from institution of higher
learning.
To enlist and strengthen employer’s involvement institutions activities and in
the entire educational process of preparing the student for employment in

Web development is more just a design; it is a process of creating a dynamic website
page with both the front end and back end. When talking about web development, we
consider some terms and terminologies such as;

Server: is any device that has the ability to share it resources between the devices
connected to it.

Client: Is a device that depends on other devices to receive resources.

Website: is a place where we found many web pages that contains information and all
the resources required on web page can be found in web site.

RULES AND CONVENTION OF JAVASCRIPT

 Semi-Column (;): Java is not compulsory at the end of every JavaScript statement,
however it is a good practice to insert a semi-column after scripting statements,
because it enhance the readability of the code.
 Comment: The comment in JavaScript is very similar to that of java.
 Quote (“”): Double or Single quote is allowed to en-string characters.

JavaScript allow us to use double and single quote when using quote within another
pair of quotes.

 Case Sensitivity: JavaScript is case sensitive scripting lang. e.g in JavaScript

variable (a) is different from variable (A).

Rules guiding and variable name in JavaScript are the same with the one in Java.

Data that can be store by variable;

1. Numeric
2. String
3. Boolean (True/False)

Variable Declaration

Var X;

X = 12;

X =] “Ade”

The data type depends on the current value the variable holds.

OPERATOR
1. Arithmetic Operator +,-,*,/,%
2. Relational Operator <,>,==,!=
3. Bitwise Operator &,|,^,<<,>>

14 | P a g e
4. Logical Operator AND, OR
5. Assignment Operator *=,+=,-=,/=,%=
6. Conditional Operator ?,:

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN SERVER-SIDE SCRIPTING LANG. AND

CLIENT SIDE SCRIPTING LANG.

SERVER SIDE SCRIPTING LANGUAGE: All code that stay back on the server
during request and respond for execution are known as server side script.

CLIENT SIDE SCRIPTING LANGUAGE: Are those resources that the server can
share with client and can also run on the server. Any scripting that can be executed on
the client.

CASCADING STYLE SHEET (CSS)

Is used to define how to display an HTML element.
 Decorate
 Arrange
 Beautify

CSS can be added to an HTML page in three (3) ways.

 External – Code written outside the HTML file.
 Internal – CSS is written within the HTML
 In-line

TYPE OF SELECTOR IN HTML

Selector is used to predefine element. It can be an existing tag.
1. ID is used to predefine single item, it can be used for only 1 object.
2. Class is used to manipulate or edit group of items.

Before an ID is named there must be an object or element that bears that name.

#Symbol represent an ID selector.

.Symbol represent a Class selector.

3. Tag is used to manipulate or edit tag items.

ID selector will override class selector but only take in the attribute that present in
class and not in ID. Especially when ID happens to be a primary selector.

Class selector overrides the tag selector.

CHAPTER FOUR

CHALLENGES FACED

15 | P a g e
4.1 POWER FAILURE
This is one of the major problems I encountered. Every activity that takes place in the

Animation Department requires electricity but one can’t rely totally on PHCN, so the

company provided a stand by generator, but many a times, the gen malfunctions due

to high usage rate, and if the experts don’t come to fix it, our work progress gest

affected. Although, I saw that as another opportunity for me to look deep into the

theoretical aspects of animation, as animation is about 80% practical, 20 % theory.

4.2 LIMITED TIME

The training scheme commenced late, and we spent an approximation of three months

instead of four, so I was unable to complete my Networking to its fullest. But I intend

to further after my National Diploma

4.3 CONCLUSION
To conclude this report , the experience that I had during my SIWES program
make me to understand more about my career and engineering. I will say one should
not be left behind the world of information technology, as the world is advancing in
technology, nearly every activity of mankind now a day has been programmed as a
task to be carried out by the computer. Hence one needs to understand at least a little
of the application of the computer and its languages. And the student industrial
work experience scheme is an opportunity for a student to be the best in his/her
future career
