JOINT PARLIAMENTARY COMMITTEE ON MAINTENANCE OF HERITAGE CHARACTER

AND DEVELOPMENT OF PARLIAMENT HOUSE COMPLEX

Introduction
Constitution

The Speaker, in consultation with the Chairman, Rajya Sabha, has constituted a
Joint Parliamentary Committee on Maintenance of Heritage Character and
Development of Parliament House Complex. Present composition of the Committee
is as follows:--

Terms of reference of Joint Parliamentary Committee on Maintenance of
Heritage Character and Development of Parliament House Complex

(i) formulate policies, guidelines and programmes on conservation,


restoration, rehabilitation and maintenance works in Parliament House
Complex in accordance with standard conservation principles and
procedures;

(ii) consider and approve proposals for acquisition of additional land,


construction of new buildings/structures or development of existing
buildings within the Parliament House Complex;

(iii) monitor and review the steps being taken for conservation of Heritage
character of Parliament House building and development of existing and
new building projects in Parliament House Complex in the light of the
decisions of the Committee;

(iv) consider any other related matters/issues referred by the Chairman,


Rajya Sabha or the Speaker, Lok Sabha to the Committee.
