the essay question twice and that you understand what you need to do.

1. Could a firm simultaneously pursue focus, differentiation, and cost leadership?


Should firms do that? Discuss

 Integrating cost leadership with differentiation strategy, for example, is


favorable and well suited for today's company world, according to business
literature. As global rivalry intensifies, this "hybrid" method is expected to
become ever more important—and popular. This hybrid strategy allows the
organization to respond to changes in the environment and learn new skills
and technology faster than companies that employ a single generic approach.

2. If a company has $1 million to spend on a new strategy and is considering market


development versus product development, what determining factors would be most
important to consider?

 The process of determining how to move a product or service into a new


geographic location is known as market development. There are several
factors to consider when determining when this should be employed. When a
company is doing well in its current market, it may be advantageous to
expand its operations into an underserved location. The company must
determine whether or not it has the necessary human resources to support
this expansion. They should assess if the channel through which they will
distribute their services or commodities is cost-effective and dependable. If
products delivery is problematic in the new market, there will be a direct loss
of customers before they even get to the product. To benefit the company the
most, all aspects would have to be in sync.

 When evaluating a product development strategy, a corporation wants to


boost sales by altering the physical characteristics of its product or service.
To effectively pursue this quest, resources will need to be established to
generate the necessary research and development. An assessment of the
product or service life cycle would determine whether they are at the
maturity stage, allowing for a deeper engagement with existing customers.
The corporation should assess the necessity for the newest product or
service, as well as whether or not other companies are exploring new
developments in this quickly increasing field. Validating these characteristics
will help this firm determine whether investing these resources in R&D will
result in a more attractive product or service.
