Good morning to all the honorable juries,teachers,and all of the competition

participants. My name is Daniel Francis. I am an 11th grade student from Budi Mulia
High School. First of all, I would like to say thank you for this opportunity to represent
my school in this speech competition. On this occasion,I want to talk about “Learning
from the current COVID-19 impact on business and how to cope with the next
pandemic”.
Ladies and gentlemen,
As we all know,COVID-19 is a dangerous disease caused by a virus called
coronavirus. This virus has caused a pandemic that is happening globally. COVID-19
has not only affected the health sector,but almost every part of our daily life including
the economic sector. Firstly,I want to talk about the various impacts COVID-19 has
caused in the economic sector/business.
The first impact is the change in business model from conventional to digital.
This is influenced by the existence of several government policies likeWork From
Home (WFH) and Large-Scale Social Distancing. This change causes both producers
and consumers to be able to adapt and adapt to circumstances. However, switching to
this online model, some producers are still very far from covering the losses
experienced.
The second impact is the decline in income. According to IkhsanIngrabatun as
the Chairperson of the Indonesian MSME Association, he estimated that the turnover of
MSMEs in the non-culinary sector will fall by 30-35%. Meanwhile, according to the
Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises, around 37,000 MSMEs
have reported that they have been very seriously affected by this pandemic which
includes around 56% having reported a decrease in sales, 22% reported problems with
the financing aspect, 15% reported problems related to the distribution of goods and 4%
reported difficulties. in meeting raw materials.
Ladies and gentlemen.
 We have seen how COVID-19 hugely impacted the business sector of this
country.We’ve seen how tremendous these impacts have been. Because of this,we have
to learn from these impacts so that we can overcome these impacts if a pandemic ever
happen again. If that happens,we have to be ready. There are ways to prepare us for the
next pandemic (if it ever happen again),such as:
1. Try to adapt with the pandemic by using online delivery,like Gojek and
GrabBike.
2. Connect and communicate more with customers. Get something useful from
your customers,like feedbacks and critics.
3. Make sure your business products are delivered safely and as clean as possible
so that your customers know you keep your product as hygiene as possible.
4. Make a website or online blogs so that your customers can order your products
wherever and whenever.
5. Adapt your pricing model and ensure customer loyalty.
I sincerely hope that we can recover soon from this pandemic so that we can
continue our activities normally again. I apologize if I said something wrong. That's all
