Organic compounds
The main composition of man is organic compounds. However, organic compounds can be
converted to inorganic substances through heating process.
Inorganic substances could not be converted into organic substances. These observations gave
rise to the theory of vitalism.
It states: 1) life and substances associated with life were not bound by the laws of science.
2) These life connected substances had a vital force that man cannot control.
A German Chemist formed an organic compound urea (end product of body’s metabolism of
protein) by heating an inorganic compound (ammonium cyanate) in 1828.
After some years, Chemists are able to synthesize many organic compounds.
Organic chemistry is the study of compounds that contain carbon compounds relationship
between organic chemisytry to other branches.
