VISION
A premier national university that develops leaders in the global knowledge economy.

MISSION
A university committed to producing leaders by providing a 21st century learning environment through innovations in
education, multidisciplinary research, and community and industry partnerships in order to nurture the spirit of nationhood,
propel the national economy, and engage the world for sustainable development.

General Directions (Problem Solving):

1. Read each problem carefully. Answer the following problems completely.
2. Solutions and answers should be presented (written or typed-written) clearly and
neatly as possible.
3. Use clean sheets of bond or yellow paper and black pen in solving.
4. Round off all answers to the nearest thousandths.
5. Upload your solutions and answers finished or not finished on or before the due time
posted. Late uploading of answers will have corresponding deductions from total raw
score.
6. Cheating in whatever form means a score of 0 in this exam.

1. a. Calculate the control limits for X-bar and S charts based on the first 12 samples reflecting
the process before any problems were denounced.

b) Plot X-bar and S charts labeling the data points, upper and lower control limits, and center
lines on both charts. Plot the means/ranges of the last 6 samples, but use the control limits and
center lines calculated for the first 12 samples.
2. The performance of the first shift is reflected in the inspection results of electric carving

3. Given below are the data for empty bottle inspections of a soft-drink manufacturer.

a. Determine the central line and control limits using c chart assuming there is a
constant number of empty bottles being inspected. Construct the chart. Make the
necessary revision assuming all out of control points have assignable causes.
b. Determine the central line and limits of the defect with the highest rate. Make the
necessary revision without constructing the chart assuming all out of control
points have assignable causes.
