Congratulations on selecting the Garrett
SuperWand hand-held metal detector. You
can begin using your SuperWand with this
user manual, a summary guide to basic
operation. The SuperWand with both audible
and silent vibrating alarms offers outstanding
performance as well as operating features not
found in any other hand-held detector, with
state of the art circuitry that allows instant
operation, which provides the optimum setting
with no operator adjustment. With full 360°
Plus™ detection coverage—even at its tip—the
SuperWand is very effective in easily detecting
even the smallest of metallic objects.

 COMPONENTS / FUNCTION
3-Way Power Switch - Has two On positions
and a central Off position. When the Power
Switch is pressed forward, the SuperWand will
sound an audible alarm upon detection of any
metal and the red LED will appear. When the
switch is slid backward, the SuperWand will
vibrate and light the red LED upon detection
of any metal but no sound will be heard. Power
is turned off when the switch is in the central
position.
LED Array - The green LED illuminates
whenever the detector is operating. The red
LED illuminates whenever metal is detected.
The amber LED illuminates when battery
power becomes low and the battery should be
recharged or replaced.
Audio Alarm - The speaker provides a clearly
audible sound whenever metal is detected.
The Audio Alarm sounds only when the Power
Switch is pressed forward.

 Vibrating Alarm - When unit is in vibrating
mode,the handle will vibrate and red LED will
alarm operator whenever metal is detected.
Battery Cover - Remains securely in place
at all times but can be easily opened for
changing the battery with no tools required.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

When the SuperWand is operating, it will

detect metal only while it is in motion. Scan
within approximately one inch of the person
(object) being inspected. Sound will be heard
or vibration felt and the red LED will illuminate
when metal is detected anywhere around
or at the tip of the SuperWand's detection
area. Operation is completely automatic. No
"retuning" is ever necessary. All ferrous and
non-ferrous metals will be detected. To scan feet
and ankles, position the SuperWand vertically
with the tip pointed at the floor and sweep the
SuperWand parrallel and approximately one to
two inches above the floor.

 Maintenance and Verification
Periodic maintenance should include a daily
check for battery condition, verification that
the SuperWand detects metal and there are
no loose or missing parts. A daily test standard
can be established by using the FTP or OTP
test piece available from Garrett, or simply
by selecting an object the size of a large coin
and noting the expected detection distance. A
formal test program may be establish using the
Test Kit HHMD p/n 1626100 available from
Garrett.

 SERVICE INFORMATION

Battery Replacement
The central amber LED will illuminate when
battery power is low and the battery needs to
be replaced. Slide back the battery cover (use
a coin if necessary), tilt the detector and the
battery will slide out. Before installing the new
battery, look inside the battery compartment
and note the locations of the small and large
battery contact openings. Install the new
battery with the proper orientation to align
the battery posts with the openings. If a 9V
battery is improperly installed, no circuitry
damage will occur; however, the SuperWand
will not operate. Because the battery cover
will not close tightly if the battery is inserted
improperly, never force the cover. When the
SuperWand is to be stored for more than 30
days, remove the battery.

 COMPONENTES / FUNCIÓN
Interruptor de encendido de 3 vías - Tiene
dos posiciones de Encendido y una posición
central de Apagado. Cuando se presiona el
interruptor de encendido hacia adelante, el
SuperWand emitirá una alarma audible al
detectar cualquier metal y el LED rojo se
encenderá. Cuando el interruptor se desliza
hacia atrás, el SuperWand vibrará y el LED rojo
se iluminará al detectar cualquier metal, pero
no se escuchará ningún sonido. El detector
está apagado cuando el interruptor está en la
posición central.
Matriz de LED - El LED verde se ilumina
cuando el detector está funcionando. El LED
rojo se ilumina siempre que se detecta metal.
El LED ámbar se ilumina cuando la batería está
baja y es necesario recargarla o cambiarla.
Alarma audible - La bocina emite un sonido

abrirse fácilmente para cambiar la batería sin

INSTRUCCIONES DE OPERACIÓN
Cuando el SuperWand está funcionando,
detectará metal únicamente cuando esté en
movimiento. Pase el detector aproximadamente
a una distancia de una pulgada de la persona (u
objeto) que desea inspeccionar. Se escuchará
un sonido o se sentirá una vibración y el LED
rojo se iluminará cuando se detecte metal
en cualquier parte alrededor o en la punta
del área de detección del SuperWand. La
operación es completamente automática.
No es necesario "volver a afinar". Todos los
metales ferrosos y no ferrosos se detectarán.
Para revisar los pies y tobillos, coloque el
SuperWand verticalmente, con la punta
dirigida al piso y pase el SuperWand paralelo
y aproximadamente de una a dos pulgadas de

 Mantenimiento y verificación
El mantenimiento periódico debe incluir una
revisión diaria de la condición de la batería,
verificación de que el SuperWand detecta
metal y de que no falten piezas ni hay piezas
sueltas. Puede establecerse una norma de
prueba diaria usando la pieza de prueba FTP
u OTP disponible en Garrett, o simplemente
seleccionando un objeto del tamaño de una
moneda grande y tomando nota de la distancia
esperada de detección. Puede establecerse
un programa formal de prueba usando el Kit
de Prueba HHMD, número de parte 1626100
disponible en Garrett.

 INFORMACIÓN DE LOS SERVICIOS

Cambio de la batería
El foco LED ámbar central se iluminará
cuando la carga de la batería sea baja y sea
necesario cambiar la batería. Deslice la tapa
de la batería hacia atrás (use una moneda si
es necesario), incline el detector y la batería
se deslizará hacia afuera. Antes de instalar la
nueva batería, revise dentro del compartimento
de la batería y observe las ubicaciones de las
aperturas de contacto grandes y pequeñas
de la batería. Instale la nueva batería con la
orientación correcta para alinear los postes
de la misma con las aperturas. Si una batería
de 9V se instala incorrectamente, no se
dañarán los circuitos; sin embargo, el detector
SuperWand no funcionará. Debido a que la
tapa de la batería no se cierra firmemente si
la batería se inserta incorrectamente, nunca
fuerce la tapa. Cuando el SuperWand deba
almacenarse durante más de 30 días, retire la
batería.

Interrupteur à 3 positions - Deux positions
de fonctionnement et une position centrale
pour éteindre l'appareil. Lorsque l'interrupteur
est poussé vers l'avant, le SuperWand émettra
une alarme sonore s'il détecte un métal, puis
la DEL rouge s'allumera. Lorsque l'interrupteur
est glissé vers l'arrière, le SuperWand vibrera
et la DEL rouge s'allumera dès qu'un métal
sera détecté, sans qu'aucun son ne soit émis.
Lorsque l'interrupteur est en position centrale,
le SuperWand est éteint.
Matrice de DEL - La DEL verte est
allumée lorsque le détecteur est en cours de
fonctionnement. La DEL rouge s'allume lorsqu'un
métal est détecté. La DEL ambre s'allume
lorsque la pile est presque épuisée et qu'elle
doit être rechargée ou remplacée.
Alarme sonore - L'enceinte émet un signal
sonore clairement audible lorsqu'un métal est
détecté. L'alarme sonore ne retentit que si
l'interrupteur est poussé vers l'avant.
Alarme vibrante - Lorsque l'appareil est en
mode vibrant, la poignée vibrera et la DEL rouge

 s'allumera pour signaler à l'utilisateur qu'un
métal a été détecté.
Couvercle du compartiment à pile - Reste
bien fixé en permanence mais peut être
facilement ouvert pour changer la pile sans
utiliser aucun outil.
INSTRUCTIONS D'UTILISATION
Lorsque le SuperWand est en cours de
fonctionnement, il détectera les métaux
seulement s'il est en mouvement. Passez le
détecteur à environ un pouce de la personne
(objet) que vous inspectez. Un son ou une
vibration, ainsi que la DEL rouge allumée,
vous signaleront qu'un métal a été détecté à
n'importe quel endroit ou à l'extrémité de la zone
de détection du SuperWand. Le fonctionnement
est entièrement automatique.
Aucun réglage n'est nécessaire. Tous les
métaux ferreux et non ferreux seront détectés.
Pour une inspection au niveau des pieds et
des chevilles, positionnez le SuperWand à la
verticale, l'extrémité pointée vers le sol, et
effectuez un balayage parallèle au sol, à un ou
deux pouces de hauteur avec le SuperWand.

 Maintenance et vérification
Éléments à inclure dans le programme de
maintenance périodique : vérifiez tous les jours
l'état de la pile, vérifiez que le SuperWand
détecte bien le métal et qu'aucune pièce ne
se détache ou ne manque. Pour effectuer le
test de fonctionnement quotidien, vous pouvez
vous servir du dispositif de test FTP ou OTP
disponible auprès de Garrett ou bien d'un objet
de la taille d'une grosse pièce de monnaie, puis
noter la distance de détection. Un programme
de test formel peut être établi à l'aide du kit de
test HHMD réf. 1626100 disponible auprès de
Garrett.

 INFORMATIONS D'ENTRETIEN

Remplacement de la pile
La DEL ambre centrale s'allumera lorsque la
batterie sera presque épuisée et qu'elle devra
être changée. Faites coulisser le couvercle du
compartiment à pile (à l'aide d'une pièce de
monnaie, si nécessaire), inclinez le détecteur
et la pile sortira. Avant d'installer la nouvelle
pile, regardez à l'intérieur du compartiment à
pile et notez l'emplacement de la grande et de
la petite ouvertures dédiées aux contacts de la
pile. Installez la nouvelle pile dans le bon sens
pour aligner les bornes avec les ouvertures. Si
une pile de 9 V est mal installée, les circuits ne
seront pas endommagés mais le SuperWand
ne fonctionnera pas. Si la pile est mal installée,
le couvercle ne se fermera pas correctement.
Ne forcez donc jamais sur le couvercle. Si le
SuperWand doit être entreposé pendant plus
de 30 jours, retirez la pile.
