MORINGA OLEIFERA SERVICE FARM PROJECT

Moringa oleifera is a known nutritional value and healing wonders that grow
abundantly in Nigeria especially in the northern part of the country. This
underutilized natural resource was never thought in ways that can make it as
a source of income or livelihood.
PRICE OF MORINGA SEEDLINGS
The unit cost of our treated hybrid Moringa seedling is #250 each. Due to the
high cost of setting up the plantation, the price of the seedlings has been
lowered or subsidised for the benefit of the investor/partner.
Eden Group Farmers Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited, therefore
seeks to partner with your company.
TOTAL NUMBER OF MORINGA SEEDLINGS/TREES ON 1 HECTARE
AND PLOT.
- The total number of Moringa seedlings needed to be planted in 1 Hectare
is 11,000 Seedlings.
- The number of Seedlings per 1 plot of Farm Land of 100feets by 100feets
square is 1,100 Moringa Plants.
HOW THE PROJECT WILL BE FUNDED
It is proposed that the Investing Partner will fund the project.
MORINGA TREE SPACING
For intensive Moringa production, the trees are planted at every 3 feet apart.
The purpose of planting the seedlings to develop quality Moringa seed
production for commercial utilization and export.
It is projected that 30 Moringa Trees produce 1kg of the Leaves, while 10
Moringa trees will produce 1kg of Moringa Seeds when harvested at a worst
case scenario.
TYPE OF MORINGA TO BE PLANTED
Out of the 12 species of Moringa, the most widely cultivated species is
Moringa Oleifera because it wins out over the other species in terms of leaf
nutritional yield and quality, antioxidant activity and a lot of other aspects of
interest. Eden Group Farmers Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited in
collaboration with its Members will cultivate the superior genotype variety of
Moringa oleifera. This variety first yield of Leaves starts in four (4) months
while the Seeds is in seven (7) months basis after planting and gives a
commercial yield for many years. It is an elite Moringa variety and has a high
productivity.
MARKETING/ SALES
Who Will Buy The Moringa Seeds/Leaves?
Our Off-Taker (SAI-EDEN MORINGA PRODUCTION COMPANY LIMITED) and
Partners are in every part of the world and have been scanting for the
procurement of the best Leaves and seeds; supply of the seedlings to the site,
buying of all the dehydrated Moringa seeds and leaves harvested on the farm
have been on ground.
This is one factor that has made this business very successful. As long as we
exist, our market size will be bigger, stable and permanent. A company
(Grand Cereal and Oil Meal Limited, a subsidiary of UAC) requested if it could
be getting supply of 10 trailers {300 Tones} of Clinically Shade-Dried Moringa
Leaves weekly beside Foreign Pharmaceutical Industries that are SWITCHING
BACK TO NATURE. With a 1,000,000 Hectares of land of Moringa plantation, it
is impossible to meet the weekly production world demand.
A huge market for the sale of Moringa locally and internationally is available.
Aforementioned, the demand for Moringa is so huge that it requires that
Moringa trees be planted on at least 300,000 hectares of land in each of the
36 states of Nigeria. Here in Nigeria adequate arrangement has been
made for buyers of our Moringa leaves before we ever embarked on
this project. As soon as this project kicks off, our buyers are waiting
to buy all the dehydrated Moringa seeds or leaves.
Competitive edge
One of the unique selling advantages of our seeds and leaves is the way in
which the product/sales are structured.
The products are bought as soon as they are harvested. This is a unique
quality that differentiates us from our competitors if there are any.
Our plan to push our sales in the first year of operation is to be able to
compensate in full the fund provided by the bank. This would materialize
through commitment, determination and hard work as the financial plan in the
next page will indicate.
MORINGA PROJECT LIFE SPAN
Moringa farming business is not like seasonal crops farming such as rice,
beans, etc. Once Moringa farm is set up; it keeps churning out millions of
Dollars for the investor monthly. The lifespan of Moringa tree is about 30 to
50 years

RISKS AND MITIGATIONS

The risks for the start-up farm include;

A. NATURAL DISASTERS
Weather – heavy rains and floods is a threat to Moringa trees.
Mitigation: the plants will be planted in high places where water would not
stay stagnant. The farm will also make provision for insurance with the
Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Company (NAIC to soft land, in case of natural
disasters.

B. Domestic Animals and Grazing Cattle.

Mitigation; Security will be deployed besides the Application of ANIMAL
REPELLANT in the farm to secure the entire plantation

C. Incidence of Thieves.
Mitigation; Adequate security and vigilance will be mounted in the premises of
the farm besides the farmers.

SUSTAINABILITY PLAN
The venture will be sustained through discipline, proper accountingtraining,
consultation, research and development.

MANAGEMENT SUMMARY

The productive plantation of Moringa needs to be scientifically managed for

better growth and production. The growth and yield of the plant could be
improved through effective management practice. The enhanced cultivation
technology and improved inputs may provide above 400 litres of biodiesel per
hectare without displacing food crop and without utilizing prime food land in
terms of sustainable farming techniques. However cultivation and
management of Moringa plantation go together, without professional planning
on the project from start to finish, the result harvest will be low and also
affect the Nutritional Value of the produce which is the MAJOR CONCERN of
the Off-Takers.
