The Tyler Rush
Memorial
Scholarship Fund
and the “Night on Broadway” tradition
bfre Tyler Rush Fund and the “Night on Broadway” performance tradition began in 1999 as a tribute to Tyler Rush
and his love of music, especially Broadway musicals. To date, over $50,000 in scholarships have been awarded to
deserving chorus students from the money raised by the “Night on Broadway” concerts.
The mission of this fund is to raise money, through tax deductible contributions, for college scholarships
awarded to outstanding senior graduates involved in the choral program at Winter Park High School.
Scholarships are given in $1000 increments and recipients are announced at the end of the year chorus banquet.
Tyler Rush
July 27, 1983 - December 26, 1998
Tyler was an energetic and enthusiastic member of Concert Choir and Park Singers
when his life was cut short by a tragic car accident. One of only two sophomores in
Park Singers, Tyler loved the time he spent in the chorus department. He truly
loved musical theater and enjoyed the many productions in which he participated,
including First United Methodist Church of Winter Park’s production of Joseph
and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Rollins College Annie Russell Theater’s
production of A Month in the Country, and the Park Singers’ production of Godspell.
It means a great deal to the Rush family that the chorus department continues to
remember Tyler through these memorial Broadway concerts. They would like to
thank the Winter Park High School chorus department family for helping them keep
Tyler’s memory alive. Together with the students, they look forward each year to the
“Night on Broadway” Memorial concert. ‘This is exactly the sort of production that
Tyler would have loved.
